Better article on the ETF situation...

Better article I think on this issue. “Lower cost of canceling
Wireless customers in the U.S. are generally required to sign up for one- or two-year plans, with early-termination fees typically set at $175 to $200. When they want to alter monthly plans, customers are usually required to extend their current contract or enter a new one.
Under AT&T's new approach, the early-termination fee would be progressively reduced over the life of the plan. It would apply "early in 2008" to new and current customers who sign one- or two-year contracts.
Spokesman Mark Siegel said AT&T has not yet determined how much the fee would decline. The company will inform customers shortly before the change takes effect, he said.
Late last year, Veriz...

quick question

I've had about all the phone carriers there are, and i've been with att while now...Does anybody know if they offer any sort of extended battery for their phones? I know verizon, sprint, nextel, etc. offer a regular and an extended battery for most of their phones. I have the n75 and my girlfriend has the nokia 6555 and the battery life is just plain awful. We've had both phones for awhile now and were lucky to get through the day with the phone. I know CDMA phones have a worse battery life usually, but with my extended batteries, I was getting around 4 or 5 days. I was told GSM had a better battery life, but so far our battery life has been pathetic! Thanks

Any one can buy a phone...

I deal with wonderful hillbillies each and every day. I relish the oppurtunity to educate such an oblivious person. I jump at the chance to tell them how the real world works, because i can.

you drop phone, you pay now. Phone in pieces, you go insurance. me sorry

premere upgrade contract question

Does anyone here work for the online premiere site? I have a usps discount and was looking at the tilt but i was wanting to buy it at non contract price. I went through the motions all the way to the credit card screen and no where on any of the pages did it say i had to extend for 2 years. there wasn't even an asterisk that indicated any type of renewal. i found this odd and started over but this time selected new line of service and then it showed at the bottom that it did in fact require a new activation and new 2 year commitment then had a link about pricing structure that showed how discounts were calculated. when i was on the upgrade option it said that the prices were available on premiere only but did not show a 2 year contract was r...

question.

My husband is due for an upgrade with AT&T and will only settle for the Motorola V3xx. About a month ago this phone was $49.99 w/ upgrade and then the next day it was $99.99...so now as stubborn as he is he won't pay the $99.99..I know you could care less I'm just wondering why the pricing fluctuated like that and if there are any other options so he will stop whining besides waiting until the V3M is free and it goes back down to $49.99...

thanks.

Currently I'm a verizon customer and have never gone this route before, so any advice would be appreciate. Also after the test drive, what number would I call to do the port of my verizon lines. TIA and thanks for reading.

wi-fi question for BB 8820 or AT&T 8525/Tilt users

I just got a corporate paid line of service. Corp doesn't allow data plans and the manager has to pay any/all data charges at the standard $/kb rate and I have to justify any/all data charges.

I am thinking about getting a wi-fi capable phone to avoid data charges since 80-90% of the time I'm in a location where wi-fi is available (work & home).

Is there a way to configure these phones to only use wi-fi? Or require an extra click/button push to use AT&T's data network?

I basically need a phone that I can sync Outlook calendar items to, has great reception, and can easily read text messages sent to me from servers (server down/application outage). Everything else is bonus.

Phones for Elderly people, Would you agree?

I'm sure this has already been posted already, but wouldn't many of you Sales Reps/Consultants agree that AT&T could stand to make a decent amount of money if they got with a manufacturer and had a phone for older people made?
It would have to be Nokia, because many of them that come in have an old arse Nokia that they swear by. Simply a phone that would make it easier to text, and place a call.
I love my job, but damn I swear most of us pretend to work when an 87 year old lady walks in, wanting to upgrade a phone.

Blackjack extended battery phone case

My last phone case for my blackjack bit the dust and I am in the market for a new one... When I go to the ATT stores to find one they have it but my blackjack has the extended battery and none of the ones made for the blackjack fit it and most of the ones made for the PDA phone are way to big. Anyone have a link or idea of a good one for the blackjack with extended battery?

Recommendation

I started working for an AT&T indirect dealer this week, and I'm being offered a generous employee plan. I couldn't care less about smart phones...I have been using a RAZR previously on a CDMA carrier, and having no problems whatsoever. Any recommendations from you AT&T veterans as to what phone(s) I should be looking at for consideration? I'm leaning towards the Motorola V9 (RAZR2), but I'm open to suggestions. Thanks!

Lawsuit accuses Apple, AT&T of monopoly with iPhone

Ok This is just stupid!

http://www.usatoday.com/tech/wireless/phones/2007-10 ... »

SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) — Complaints over Apple's use restrictions and recent software update for the iPhone have erupted in two lawsuits alleging Apple and its carrier partner, AT&T, engaged in illegal monopolistic behavior.
Two separate lawsuits were filed Friday in San Jose — one in federal court and the other in state court and both seeking class-action status.

The federal case accuses the companies of unfair business practices and violations of antitrust, telecommunications and warranty laws. The state case raises some of the same allegations.

Apple spokeswoman Susan Lundgren and AT&T spokesman Mar...
