AT&T’s 4Q Results Lifted by Cingular’s Solid Performance

AT&T posted strong fourth-quarter earnings, with revenues up 23% to $15.9 billion and profits up 17% to $1.9 billion.

In 2006, AT&T earned $7.3 billion (up 53%) with revenues of $63 billion (up 44%). The earnings were lifted by the projected cost savings of the 2005 merger with SBC, which totaled some $1.1 billion – $300 million better than it anticipated.

With its recent merger with BellSouth, AT&T believes it can further improve its cost structure in 2007, especially by rejoining Cingular Wireless with AT&T. Cingular's earnings bounced up in the fourth quarter of 2006, and AT&T chairman and CEO Edward E. Whitacre Jr. noted that wireless amounts to 34% of the merged company's business.

Another positive for the company came v...

WHATS THE DEAL WITH THE 8525's bluetooth

okay i got my 8525 on the 17th of this month really didnt touch or start fooling with it until the 21st.

as usual i started cutting mp3's into clips to send to the phone via bluetooth.

after i got 7 songs chopped up i paired it with my kensington bt adapter/dongle. it asked me what profiles i wished to share handsfree, serial, and dun. i thought this was strange but i kept on with the process. i went to send the songs via bluetooth and i got a rejection pop up saying the device doesnt support transfering files or pim.

i thought it was my device its self until i tried on a customers.

WHATS THE DEAL. is there a work around i have to do for bluetooth to work or is the 8525 LIMITED! πŸ‘Ώ πŸ‘Ώ πŸ‘Ώ

Good Bye Cingular Brand, I hope you rot in HELL!!!

😈

Now that AT&T gets it back, let's hope they fix all the crap that cingular did and make as good as it was before the original merge. I hope AT&T does not continue the down path that cingular is going. I hope they bring it back up. If not, I only have a few months to put up with this crap and go somewhere else. 😁

What is the big deal about resellers?

If Wirefly, Best Buy, Let's Talk (and the like) are considered resellers, well then those resellers are signing up post-paid customers too!

Advice ladies and gents needed...

Hello... I was thinking about joining Cingular/ATTT and I believe I found the right phone for me. The Sony Ericsson W810 looks like the perfect fit for me because of the fantastic battery life, FM radio/MP3 for when I work (Which is always outdoor) and for the gym and from what it seems like good reception. Now my question is, I read on Cigular's website that this phone has advanced XHTML web browsing, what the hell does that mean? Since working outdoors I really need radar on my phone and purching apps after paying $20/MO isn't going to happen so I was wondering if I could get the radar from either weather.com or the national weather service site (www.nws.noaa.gov) Any answer regarding that matter would really help me decide to join or ...

WHY????

First off, nice to see you guys again. For those who don't remember me, I used to frequent these forums until I left ATT/Cingular in late 2005. I proudly take credit for creating "Bob, the Typical Cingular customer" (thank you, thank you).

I've been out of the loop in the cell phone world since leaving Cingular (and finding happiness), so I don't know whats going on here. Someone please explain to me why, after all the hassle of changing their name and convincing their customers to migrate from "Blue" to "Orange", is Cingular changing their name back to AT&T?

It's almost as if this company is a glutton for punishment, and wants to bring its employees and customers along for the ride. I don't mean to trash the company because i'm sure ...

RadioShack

Okay, I hate to keep bringing this up, but how much longer will Cingy be part of the RadioShack Offerings. It sounds like to me, offering Cingy/Att is going to be more involved than just selling cell phones. RadioShack may not be up to the challenge of getting employees trained, keeping them in the store, and keeping up with what looks to be huge sweeping changes for the next few months/years. Just a thought, what are yours?

AT&T???

okay. i know that cingular is only changing its name to at&t. it's just a name change, i know. are rollover mintues really going to be taken away? am i going to be forced to change to a new plan? these are just a few questions.

ohh and are there going to be a change in terms of services? if there are does that mean i can leave without paying cancellation?

i would like polite answers.
if you are going to be rude
and critize my questions i
would prefer you not to answer.

Blackberry +Media Max 200

So this weekend I'm going to get a Blackjack. There is no way in hell I will pay for that $40.00 a month for unlimited internet. And I have read that you are able to use Media Connect with the Blackjack. I want to do Media Max 200, because that is the cheapest. But really do I need unlimited internet usage? I am going to be using my phone to check email (i use g mail) and go on the internet casually, maybe 1 or 2 times a day. So what plan would anyone recommend me to use.

? for Cingular Rep. RE: Contract transfer

Is it true that I can transfer my Cingular contract to a willing recipient instead of that person starting a new line of service?

Is there a fee to transfer?

If I transfer, does the contract retain the bank of rollover minutes?

The reason I ask is that I have a line of service with Cingular that is about halfway through a 2 year agreement. I used it for a short time where I had a requirement for their service but since then, I have not used it. I have almost 4400 rollover minutes banked now and I was just thinking that if someone wanted to take over this line, they would be only assuming less than one year of a contract and if they are a heavy user would benefit greatly from the rollover bank.

If this is possible, please let me...

I know the iphone isn't 3G capable now....

But what are the odds that it will be when it comes out in June, and if they are going to release a version of it later on, what is the purpose of buying it in June...

Also, if it doesn't have built in GPS, what is the point of using google maps, because I have to tell you, that would help, not to be captain of the obvious or anything, but its kind of hard when you limit a phone as bad arse as that, with a 8G memory.

Unlocking iPhone

With Apple and Cingular not wanting the iPhone unlocked, how will that work with the U.S. Copyright Office ruling that all cellphones can legally be unlocked?
