Can I Port My Phone No's Over Now??

My Verizon contract is up on Feb. 20, and has a $175 penalty for early cancellation. I'll be changing to Cingular this time and my new phones are already on the way. If I go ahead and transfer my phone no's now will Verizon see that as early cancellation??...I would of course continue my Verizon payments thru the last invoice. Is there a way I can switch now w/o penalty? Thanks for any replies.

About the New Plans....

I hope someone is making the same mistake people made on VZW’s new plans, which was that all the base family plans included 2 lines, so if that were true, than these new plans are awesome!!!

The main thing, that always kept me away from VZW, was their arrogant attitude, that they are the best, and therefore can charge the most etc... I just hope Cingular does not turn into the arrogant wireless carrier VZW always was.....

First Cingular Buys AT@T Wireless And Now They Are Buying AT@T All Together....

How and when does this affect us cingular customers?

On a technology framework/groundwork level how does this effect us all?

What's Up with the Cingular Wireless Care Reps, Mr. and Mrs. Attitude!

I don't understand why so many CW reps have so much of an attitude and ATTWS reps are so much nicer when it comes down to care. I work w/ ATTWS accounts and also I work under the CW name (Blue Team) and I called CW cust care and I didn't know about how the invoices are printed. My customer migrated to CW and had two invoices I explained to her the ATTWS account charges then I advised her that I had to contact CW care for them to tell her why she was chrged extra. The rep from CW was like "I am pretty much going to tell her the same thing you told" *dead air* so I'm like is she serious? 😲 I mean how am I supposed to tell the customer about the details on the bill.

SE P910a with Cingular

Anyone using a P910a with cingular. If so, does all of the functionality work and have you had a problem with accurate accounting for your rollover minutes? Thanks for any input.

Another SIM Question

I know that this subject has been beat to death but I didn't get a satifactory answer searching through the arch.

I have a MPx220 with a 32K sim card. My co-worker has a V551 with the 64K sim. My phone and his favor a Cingular tower that is approx 2 miles away. On our companies property is a tower that has a ATTWS and Nextel antennas. Our phones tend to stay around 2 bars except when we go into some of the more shielded parts of the building (I know that sounds crazy) where it will jump to 4-5 bars. This tells me that it is only switching to the ATTWS tower when the cingular is out of reach.

I thought the V551 with the 64K sim should aquire the closest tower regardless of the original owner.

UMTS in Dallas

I just heard the word that Dallas will be an official test market for UMTS. The rumors going around on it say around March. I'm hoping everyone can chime in with expectations or predictions about how this will affect things. I'm hopefull for market specific features and incentives for people to try out UMTS.

Northern WV Service

I go to college in Fairmont, WV. I was wondering if anyone knew what service i should get. I am getting either Cingular or Verizon. I looked at the maps and they both say they offer service. What do you think is the better service for my area?

ATT Merger

Although funny and sorta ironic, there is rumor SBC might buy ATT, what impact do you think this will have? (maybe save on the confusion on att/sprint MVNO)

International Text Messaging

Does anyone one know when Cingular will get up to speed on international text messaging. I am mostly concerned with UK. On AT&T GSM, you could exchange texts with 5 UK carriers, Verizon now allows you to exchange with 4 UK carriers, Cingular is in the ice age as you can only exhange texts with 2 UK carriers (O2 and T-Mobile UK)...what is worse is that messages from UK come in through a text service ('E-Mail' address shown, etc) which eats up about 1/3 of the text data from UK so you do not get complete message.

On a side note, when I get text messages from friends in Pakistan, complete message comes through just as a USA message would come in?

Any help from you guys would be fabulous....

Cingular North America Plan

In regards to Cingular North American plan (no roaming/long distance in USA, Mexico, Canada, etc), I am a Cingular customer on a 2 year contract with Nokia 6230 w/ 64K SIM chip on national plan.
-Can I switch to the North American plan for a month or two for an extended trip to Mexico/Canada and then switch back to a national plan?
-Will this extend my contract?
-Will I need a new SIM chip?
-Side question...as Cingular grows, how do you update your phone with the newest roaming info?

What are the new rate plans?

I'm reading posts on here about new rate plans? But what are they?? Will they have a 2nd line for 9.99 on the 39.99 family share plan? or maybe the 49.99 fam. share plan? I hate paying 19.99 for this. ☹️

is it true since the merger cingular service has dropped?

Im a cingular customer and i live in the southern california area and i havent noticed any difference in my signal since the merger was approved. IS it true cingular service has dropped in the east coast since the merger or is that a myth? Last question can a cell phone providers cell phone service really drop after a merger?
