How does AT&T get a signal on deserted islands?

I thought you have to be within a few miles of a cell tower but now AT&T is advertising (with Bill Curtis) that AT&T can bring the internet to deserted islands. Quite a achievement!

Former Dobson store to carry iPhone 3G!

I've been informed by my local AT&T store (used to be Dobson) that they will be carrying the iPhone 3G. This is great news for people like me that live in more rural areas and won't have to drive an hour to go to the next closest AT&T store. I've also found out my store is a corporate store, which is kinda odd!

Why No New Phones?

It seems that every other major carrier comes out with a group of new phones every other week. Every time I see a new phone on the front page of phoneschoop, I click it with the hopes of it saying ATT but it ALWAYS says Verizon. I feel like ATT is essentially saying "We have the Iphone so we don't need anything else."

ATT used to have the best phones but we now have nothing comparable to the LG ENV2 or the new motorola 755. Now I see the Glyde and the Dare are also for Verizon.

We get the Pantech Breeze.

What gives?

Does AT&T cap how much a rep can make?

I've had a little bit of a layoff because of knee surgery. Now I have offers from a dealer and corporate pending the background check. I previously worked for a dealer. For a year straight I made $5400. I was speaking to a rep at my old store and he told me that his "friend" couldn't make more than $5,000 because they cap you. I want to be prepared for what to expect. This is in the Los Angeles area but any feedback is appreciated.

i love my blackberry but.......

i just got the z9 to try and OMFG... the reception on this thing is amazing. i did force full rate, but damn this thing is great. where i live has absolute crap for reception and the curve holds up well, but looses signal every so often where as the z9 holds 1-2 bars solid!(pretty bad when i'm excited about 1 bar, but it's enough to get text and if bluetooth headset is connected i can get a call) navigation is about the same and i've only used it on the z9 twice so i'd say they are about the same.

Using unlocked phones

Just how easy is it using a unlocked phone? Is it worth it or should I stay away from it? Thanks in advance for the information.

Want Outlook sync & smart keypad; is Blackberry the only way?

My Blackberry 7100g recently went bad--it no longer receives or transmits a signal well.

I want to replace it, and my basic requirements are as follows:

* Sync with Outlook (via Windows & USB)
* A "smart" keypad (either a full keyboard or a smaller one that has auto-word-detection)
* Smallest phone possible
* Recharge-battery-via-USB connection

My understanding is that my only choices are the Blackberry 7100 or 8100 series (in order to keep the size as small as possible).

Do any other viable alternatives exist?

I'm leaning toward a 7100 in order to save some money (probably buying a refurbished one) over an 8100/8110.

Thanks for any help,
-Matt

WORKING WITH ATT

Hi...just wondering what it is like working for ATT. I am a former VZW employee and hated working there because I was very micromanaged. I used to work in a call center. Looking to working in a store. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks!

Wish me luck.....

Well I have been on these forums before, but haven't posted much. I currently work for an AT&T Exclusive Agent, well I got a call today from the manager at the local AT&T COR store wanting me to come in for an interview. So wish me luck everyone. I really want to get back in the corporate side of things. It was rough going from working for a company owned T-Mobile store to working for an agent AT&T store. I really want to get the job.

Hillarious!

http://www.boygeniusreport.com/2008/06/26/internal-a ... »

Check this out. New reports are coming in that a very interesting memo is currently circulating internally at AT&T. Said memo reportedly lists a variety of features that will supposedly be included on the upcoming iPhone 3G. Among them is an exciting new service that - get this - allows you to send SMS-like messages that include multimedia attachments. Imagine! The service, cleverly named Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS) supposedly allows users to attach one or more image, audio file or even video and deliver the message along with text. The recipient of the message will then see and / or hear the multimedia on his or her mobile. ...

K850i

Last week I received a Sony Ericsson K850i from J and R in New York. After using it for about a week now I have come to the conclusion that if ATT decides not to pick up this phone it would be a huge mistake. Great phone, outstanding call quality, and top notch reception. All the things you need from a phone and plenty of goodies you like to have.

Now can someone tell me if being unbranded has anything to do with reception? Because I'm starting to notice I have reception now in places where before I had little to none. Also everyone I talk to has said that they can hear me more clearly and better than ever before including my W810i(low volume), my Blackberries (Pearl and 8310), and my Nokia 6682(just an awesome device which I never ...

GSM vs UMTS call quality

Ok, so I'm using a friend's Tilt for a few days. (This is the first time I try a 3G phone extensively) but I don't think the call quality, and most importantly, the clarity does not live up to that on my K790a. Could it be that the Tilt is crappy for clarity? Or is it -gasps- that 3G is not as good as GSM for clarity?

Dang Att

I was on the website this morning and y does the cheapest plan come with just 5000 night and weekend minutes instead of unlimited? The data plan I need with unlimited everything is $35??? I wanted the BlackJack 2 in Red but the plans are a little to rich for my blood...geez! 🙄 I already pay too much as it is and I shopping around for cheaper plans. TMobile is the cheapest but they aren't 3g yet...well I know they are testing 3g service in one market...NY right? Anyway, I like the phones but I don't know about those plans. Guess I could get unl text pix n vids but I love to check my email and stuff. Att should go down about $10 on that unlimited media net plan...just a suggestion.

P777 Recording outgoing message

It's been awhile since I last RECORDED an outgoing message and for the life of me I can't figure out how to do it anymore, not even the manual is helpful. Someone suggested that you go to Settings, then Phone Settings, then Greeting Message but I have no idea what this is for.

Text Message Delivery

How long do text messages stay in the system for delivery?

When do they get purged if not delivered?

If the recipient's phone is off for hours while on a flight. Or, days, weeks, if the phone is turned off, out of the country, etc.
