New User Privacy, SSN

I've been trying to get new service from T-mobile, but they seem to be stuck on my SSN.

I don't give my SSN out due to volume of identity thefts and they require it because of the thefts. Logicaly if I don't share the SSN I have a better chance to keep it secure.

The rep is telling me that that is the only way I can get service is to give up my SSN (now I know that is bogus) and that it is erased immediately after credit check verification. After reading the forum I know that the SSN is actualy stored and used in my identification as a T-mobile customer.

Anybody went through something like this?
Is enyone able to outline why the SSN is necessary and how it is actually used by the carrier?

Thanks much.....

V3 Upgrade Price

Anyone see the new upgrade prices with mail in rebate for the V3. It's almost worth signing a two year contract for that price. 😳

Google maps on T-Zones

Has anyone tried using Google maps (sometimes called google local) with t-zones? I can load the application, but it just sits there forever, and eventually times out. I'm currently on the old 2.99 plan, so i was not sure if this made a difference.

RAZR V3/V3i vs. New Nokias

I just want to get some opinions (hopefully as factual as possible) on which are the better phones -- V3i or forthcoming Nokias. Experiences with the current RAZR compared to Nokias would be helpful as well. I focus on Nokias because it seems like they always have the best reception/sound quality and seem to be of good quality.

Does T-Mo/Cingular Have?

I've been with T-Mobile for a while now, but I am starting think about features that the GSM carriers don't have. I have noticed that Sprint and Verizon have PCS Vision and V-Cast. They have streaming download with those functions and it seems real cool. So far as I can tell, T-Mobile and Cingular don't have a similar function. I know it sounds stupid to even ask about it, but I do get board when waiting at restaurants or for meetings, so I usually just hit T-Zones and browse what little of the net I can get to with my old phone. I was thinking it might be worth the switch to have either the PCS Vision or V-Cast function, as it appears to have more function and capability. Any advice?

Aim usage questions, maybe another question too..

Just wondering if you have to use the internet to be on AIM on the V330? Not sure how exactly AIM works on a phone like this. My old Samsung on pre-pay doesn't use the internet and does its thing still.

There was something else I was gonna ask but I have no idea what it was. 😁 I'll repost later if I remember.
Thanks in advance. 🙂

Roaming indicator always on

Our company bought a bunch of unlocked black razors so we can sell them for either T-Mobile or Cingular. They're not branded with any Carrier name on them and the charger is some sort of Euro-plug with an adapter for U.S. The box also includes a bunch of stuff...free headset, free leather case, and a copy of Mobile phone tools v 3.28 complete w/ data cable! but thats unrelated to the topic. just thought i'd share 🙂

Well I wanted to play around with it to see if I could access the internet with it...which i was pretty sure I wouldnt be able to do without updating the browser settings. I have T-mobile so I threw my sim card in there to see what happens. Well the internet didnt work, as I expected.
However I noticed the network it ...

Replacement Phones

I have a Nokia 6600, and my warranty just expired a couple weeks ago. The vibration stopped working a few days ago and seems to just be dead after calling customer care. I would guess my only option is to replace it, so does anyone have any suggestions for good replacements for the 6600, especially any particularly good deals they are offering right now? The way I see it there isn't all that much that's real appealing as a replacement for the 6600.
