Verizon, Cingular, or Alltell???

I am looking to do a shared plan and am not sure who to go with. Who would you go with and why? I am currently with VZW and have a broken phone so it is decision time. I am VERY unhappy with the selection of phones available at VZW. I am looking for a non-flip phone and it seems like Cingular has a great selection. Not sure if it is worth the $175 term fee though. Just need it for the basics, I live in the Cleveland, OH area. I appreciate any help you guys can give. Thanks!

Ok I officially don't want Alltel to be purchased by verizon B/C...

I have alltel but i was originally a cellular one customer and i believe that i have the best plan ever heres what it is

2 lines sharing unlimited anytime minutes, unlimited nights weekends, ect, although it only covers south dakota north dakota and some parts of minnesota, i also have 100 free to roam minutes included in the price, i also have unlimited alltel to alltel calling, but that does not count cause i have unlimited min... I also have unlimited texting, picture messaging, etc on both lines...
all this for

69.99 a month plus tax so really like 80 bucks! I am for sure verizon would take this away if they bought alltel..and i am officially over wanting to switch to verizon and i officially love alltel now because i hate verizo...

SLVR

I called Alltel's customer service and the rep told me that the Moto Slvr was coming sometime soon. Does anyone know a more specific date she told me sometime in the next 3 months. Between Alltel and Verizon, whoever gets it first is who I am going with.

Buyouts...

I would much rather have Sprint, or a private equity/cable company purchase Alltel. The Divestures would be much less with Sprint then VZW. Sprint plans are better. There CS is worse, the network quality where I am i a lot worse. But I believe they would ditch their limited network at least in my area for the Alltel network, they might be able to hold on to both here. And with a cable company they can buy up other carriers and spectrum at the next auction.

Alltel IS for Sale!

S&P worries over Alltel’s ‘strategic alternatives’

By Mike Dano

Story posted: February 23, 2007 - 1:20 pm EDT

Standard & Poor's Ratings Services said it put Alltel Corp.’s credit rating on CreditWatch with “negative implications.” The move follows comments from Alltel executives about the company considering various “strategic alternatives,” financial language that usually means the company is actively seeking buyers.

"Given that Alltel is very conservatively leveraged at around 1x, potential strategic alternatives could materially increase leverage," said Standard & Poor's credit analyst Catherine Cosentino.

Alltel this week announced strong fourth-quarter results, and comments from the company’s management served to sp...

Alltel sale could fetch $30 billion

The top rural U.S. wireless provider fueled merger speculation during its earnings call Tuesday.
February 20 2007: 9:56 PM EST

NEW YORK/PHILADELPHIA (Reuters) -- Alltel Corp. could fetch a price tag of $25 billion to $31 billion from private equity firms or other U.S. mobile service providers looking to expand in rural markets, analysts said Tuesday.

Alltel, the top rural U.S. wireless provider, fueled merger speculation when it said during an earnings conference call Tuesday that it was reviewing its strategic options. Analysts said a sale agreement could happen as early as April.

Its shares rose 3.3 percent to $62.40 after the comment...

LG Chocolate Flip aka LG 8600

Expect Alltel to launch the LG 8600 sometime this month, possibly next thursday. Want pics? Look at VZW's LG 8600. But it should have a black/grey checkerboard design on the keypad.

I have first-hand knowledge of Alltel releasing at least 9, thats NINE,
NEW HANDSETS prior to JULY 1st 2007.
(two of which being the Moto Q and LG 8600)
For Alltel, that's kinda a big deal...

I'll keep you posted with more info.

Alltel wows Wall Street

NEW YORK (Reuters) -- Alltel Corp. posted Wall Street-beating quarterly profit and revenue Tuesday on strong customer growth, and forecast stronger than expected growth for 2007, sending its shares up more than 2 percent.

For detailed info read the article!
http://money.cnn.com/2007/02/20/news/companies/allte ... »

The most interesting part was the earnings conference call was when Scott Ford stated that information about their “strategic review” will be available in May or June after the completion of the share buy-back.

More from the article: Beebe said the strategic review could take several months. Without giving additional details, he said the review was a natural follow-up to the com...

Can you believe Alltel?

I just went to Alltel's website and they actually claim to have the largest CDMA network in the country!!! What a joke! In their "Hed-to-Head" comparison they actually said they had more coverage than Verizon Wireless! Now that's just plain funny. They don't even have coverage on this side of Colorado. Seriously guys, just give up. 🙄

A CDMA/GSM Dual-mode Phone

The U.S. needs one more merger between wireless carriers. There have been quite a few. One merger created Cingular Wireless, which was once owned by SBC (60%) and BellSouth (40%). Another merger was between Bell Atlantic Mobile, Vodafone/Airtouch Cellular, GTE Wireless and PrimeCo. This merger created the then number one carrier---Verizon Wireless. Later Cingular (which at the time was the number two wireless carrier) purchased AT&T Wireless (which was the number three carrier). The combined entity usurped the 'nations largest wireless carrier' tag from Verizon Wireless. Some Verizon fans cried foul, perhaps forgetting that their company itself was a merger baby. In any case, the FCC allowed the merger to take place with some divestiture of ...

Alltel Commercials

So I just want to say that even though the Alltel commercials are very misleading (especially the way they portray T-Mobile's myFaves) they are really really entertaining to watch.

Any new phone leaks?

Anyone know of any new phones coming to Alltel as of January 23rd? 👀
I want to stay with Alltel, I've only had good experiences. But the selection of phones is'nt very impressive, and either has old tech, bussiness tech, or trend tech.
So, anyone have any leaks?

I noticed the U520 supports EVDO, but does Alltel even have EVDO built out? Or do they roam off Sprint and Verizon?
