My friend has Alltel. He wants to know what phone/data plan would be best (price first, then ease/cool factor) for emailing data/forms on average of 3x week. My guess is prob. 25 to 75 Kb/day. Lives in central (rural) TX

ok so long story short since i had a cell one phone that had issues i was able to get out of the contract 9 months early and then i got a silver razr but i dont really like it so what else should i get? it has to have a memory card slot etc! The only other one i think is cool is the 815! And why is the red razr 25 bucks more? It doesnt even go towards aids!

if i have a moto 815 and started service in March 2006 and wanted a pda phone and added data can I get 1 or 2 year pricing

I just got a starcom 6700 and I noticed that I couldn't receive nor send pictures. I have the $10 a month 750 texts. I was wondering if there was something I could do or do I have to go to an alltel store to get this issue fixed. Thanks all

alltel has "axcess", "mobile link" and "broadband" which is pretty limited as far as coverage area and i'm wondering:
1) which uses ev-do. anyone know?

2) is their "broadband" service the only one that uses ev-do and if so,

3) do the other carriers like sprint and verizon have better coverage areas for their broadband service? thanks

I'm having trouble with my text messaging. I can always receive and send messages to my friends with Alltel but I'm having trouble with other carriers. Sometimes when I send messages it looks like it went out but my friends didn't receive them and the same thing happens when they send me messages. My one friend has Cellone and when I send messages to him it gives me an error: Sending Failed Status 98 Invalid Destination. He has sent me messages that I never received either. I made sure his number was correct in my phonebook. He has no problems receiving or sending messages from other people. I called Alltel and they "don't see anything unusual". Anyone else have trouble with text messaging?

I read in the Sprint forum that people are speculating that Sprint should buy out Alltel. Sprint is doing so bad right now that I think if Sprint and Alltel were to merge, I am guessing that it would be Alltel buying out Sprint and not the other way around... Thoughts pretty please?! :-)

Hey everyone, I am thinking of getting a smartphone sometime next year and I'm debating between getting a 700wx or Q or waiting for a 700p or some other palm based phone. At work, we don't use MS Exchange for email, instead, lotus notes. I know Lotus works with Windows Mobile, I'm just not sure how well. What are your thoughts on the 2 versions?

There will be new phones coming out soon!!!! The new samsung U520 will be out 12/7...This phone is way nice i have see one... It is way thin and has a 1.3mp camera.. and a mp3 player...The new treo the 700wx will be coming out late December....

I recently purchased a U prepaid plan with Alltel. The customer service was very kind, and I am pleased with the service, but I thought I would post how Alltel mislead me when I bought my phone.

1. Voicemail. I did not know this at the time and they didn't tell me this. You are charged for voicemail, when someone leaves you one, or if you check it, even from a landline, per minute. I asked the rep when I bought the phone, and they told me that voicemail was free. I did not know that voicemail was charged per minute. I did find this in the back of the brochure, but still could of been brought to my attention when I bought the phone.

2. Roaming rates. The brochure says that the roaming rate is 59 cents per minute. They actually charge yo...

My Razr has dismal battery life. I'm in need of something new, something with long battery life, great signal strength, and excellent camera. Anything new coming? Or how does the PPC-6700, Treo or new Q do?

Any of you guys know what SOC code stands for? The SOC?

And if so...you ever heard of FOC codes? What's that stand for?

I was in my local corporate store last weekend with my Motorola Timeport 8767. I have two lines: Main line is a Razr and 2nd line is my car phone. The timeport came installed in my BMW and it integrates beautifully with the navigation and voice control. I had it actived a while ago. anyways, I asked if I could get a flex update on it and they said motorola took down the firmware for it and oh by the way, that phone isn't going to work in 3 months because of E911. So, how are they going to do this? just start shutting down non-compliant ESN's or will I get a warning? Since my car is equipped with a GPS telemetry service, can't I argue that it is E911? Any insiders let me know.

I've seen tons of complaints about Alltel phones and I can't disagree. I sent Alltel an e-mail politely telling them that their phones suck and that they need to get new ones.....like the Blackberry Pearl, or the Motorola SLVR. They told me to call the toll free number....There is even a CDMA version of the SLVR out now, the L7c. We need to start a mass petition or something to get Alltel's attention. How could we do this....

Incase you were wondering alltel, the soHo and lg 3200 were the two coolest phones ever! I am so glad that alltel sold them and sold them and sold them!! Way to go..not!

So i got 300 texts for 5.99 but 1 month free so after that it is only 5.99 but then i will cancel it and they call in get a dumb rep (as usual) and get it for free again that month!! Sweet monkey balls!!!
