Alltel & Midwest Wireless FCC Approval

The FCC approved the buyout of Midwest Wireless by Alltel today.

I don't think Phone Scoop really seems this is big info because they aren't posting it in the news section at all. (It was submitted over 5 hours ago to them)

Coming back to Alltel after my nightmare with Sprint.......

Just wanted to share with you guys (and gals) about my experience with Sprint. I had to port from Alltel over to Sprint in July due to business reasons and you just couldn't believe what I have been through. I put two phones on a family plan with my phone being a Sanyo RL-4930. Seemed like a great plan and great phone. First 30 days went without a hitch. After that, things started falling apart really quick. My phone wouldn't ring and I couldn't' send/receive txt messages and/or they would get 'qued' for periods of up to 8 or more hours. Went back to the store (Edmond Oklahoma) and advised them of my problems and they replaced my phone with a new one. The problems did not go away. I repeated this process going to the store 4 different ti...

LG 490

The LG 490 (fastap) has been pulled from retail store shelves.

No immediate reason why.

No E.T.A. when they'll be back.

Best Alltel Phone for Chapel Hill

No towers here, terrible service, have used V710, Kx5, Razr and still nothing decent. Would the AX355, 490, Nimbus, KX12, or 6235i work?

Sending Email on Alltel 6700

I just got the 6700 with Alltel. Had one with Sprint and wanted the better coverage in my area and the EVDO.

Now I am having problems with email. Sprint had a outgoing mail server but I am told Alltel does not.

I was told to use the normal incoming and outgoing mail server. I cannot send email this way. I seem to need a Alltel outgoing mail server.

One of my email accounts is bellsouth. I cannot send email on that account or any of my accounts.

Anyone have any pointers?

Thanks

Phone Browsing

I browsed the new phones at Alltel yesterday, I like the Nimbus, very good screen and camera quality, Samsung does seem to make them that way, and I wonder how the reception/signal str is.

The Pantech is definetely unique, widescreen but bulky.

The Nascar phone, errr, no.

The PPC 6700 interests me though if I could get one cheap enough. Would seem to be fun to play with.

Stopped in VZW just for heck of it, took a pic witht he Samsung 3.2 mp camera phone, very nice quality on that. The Chocolate is cool but frustrating! The LG keyboard phone with speakers is nice also.

And Cingular's W810 very nice Sony phone candy bar style.

Auction 66 - What are your thoughts - Winners/Losers?

With Auction 66 basically over, who do you think were the winners and losers? Who do you think over paid or got the best deal? Who is going to benefit from the spectrum they won the most?

That doesn't mean just because TMO acquired allot of spectrum they were the winner nor does it mean Spectrumco spent allot of money they are the winner. Who got the most bang for their buck? I have my opion but lets see what other in the industry think.

I will be posting this in other company forums. That way the trolls can give us their rediculous takes multiple times.

I saw a link the other day that showed what smaller companies were bidding for larger companies. Does anyone have this info?

Have fun!

Anyone heard about 3 watt phone from Alltell?

Hi.

I am on a fire department in West Virginia and our fire trucks have the old Digital or TDMA phones form the Cellular One area (they were bought out by AT&T I believe) and are now through Cingular.

We need a mounted phone to replace these so we can get off of this old service. We talked with Alltel and they tell us that they have a new 3-watt bag phone that can be mounted. HAs anyone heard about these or know what the model is or anything? I didn't think to ask when we talked to them ther other day.

Apparently is has a built-in 3-watt booster.

Let me know.

Thank you

Locked Images on Razer

I have in my outbox 4 pic messages which I sent and now they are locked and unable to be deleted or unlocked. Don't know how they locked in the first place. I tried master reset, and removing the battery, no luck. How do I get rid of them?

Alltel's network coverage and roaming

Does anyone know why Alltel Wireless has roaming charges on their National Freedom network? It's been years since I've heard of a North American wireless carrier that didn't have some sort of plan that was inclusive of roaming charges regardless of where a customer travelled with their handset. According to the Alltel Wireless website, the roaming charge per minute on the National Freedom service plans is $0.50/minute plus $0.40/minute for any applicable domestic long distance charges. I wonder if a buyout is in their near future.

Has anyone heard of any new smartphones for alltel? I see that phone scoop shows both the utstarcom and treo 650 as discontinued even though they are still selling them in the stores.

Metro Detroit area

i wonder why Alltel doesnt operate in the Metro Detroit area in Michigan, Alltel has extensive coverage in michigan But in my area(tri county area, or metro detroit area) alltel doesnt have a network here, thats y i asked was alltel was a pcs or cellular carrier but now know that alltel is a mix between pcs and cellular depending on area,

i wonder is it because my area has two carriers that use cellular(cingular and verizon, both pcs also) and there's a law(i think) that states that there is only two cellular networks in a given area

we have Tmobile, Cingular, Verizon, MetroPCS, and SprintNextel
