Motorola V600
I got one!
For about $570, the FEDEX box came with:
V600, matching Moto Bluetooth Headset, an extra V600 metal cover (metallic green), USB cable and CDROM.
Overall, a good value for the bundle of goodies. (I was also willing to pay a little extra for it right now, as I'm leaving for Asia in a few days and absolutely had to get a new phone.)
This phone was FedExed from Hong Kong. It came with one piece of paper in Chinese, and the packaging on the headset was in Chinese, but all of the manuals are English.
The place I ordered it from:

The one caveat. It didn't come with a SIM card (which may or may not be normal for a sim free model... đ). So I used both my wife's...

First plemix bug problems!!
The other day I was recieving an incoming call and as I tried to answer it, the phone screen went to white and the phone froze.
Today my "call end" button wouldn't work until I took the battery out and put it back in. I couldn't even power the phone off with it. I couldn't end my calls either.
And just a few minutes ago I opened it up to a white screen again, then it started flipping, said NO SERVICE and then went right back to normal.
Anyone experience anything similar? Rather than pay the Hong Kong return shipping prices, Motorola said I could ship it down to Texas and they wou...

Quest
Bluetooth vs. Infrared
Spencer, which car charger can I purchase that will work with the V600? Remember, I don't have any old equipment that I can recycle.
A quick mac/NT usb/bluetooth question
I'm aware that the tools cd and usb cable work only for NT machines running windows 98 or newer, but am I wrong or once the settings are made, one CAN transfer graphics and sounds (mp3s) from a mac to the phone via bluetooth or is that not possible?
thanks
Don't bite my head off
It has arrived
I've put in all my settings and my first call was as clear as a land phone.
I just can't remember how to find my firmware version. Can anybody walk me through it?
Thanks
took the plunge.. flashed and flexxed..
i managed to get PST, i got the firmware and flex files from http://v600.cjb.net/.
i installed phonetools from the cd first. this had the usb drivers with it.
i installed PST next. then the PST patch.
i ran multiflashflex.
first i upgraded the firmware. i made sure overwrite, master clear and master reset were all checked (the other box wasn't).
took about 10 minutes. phone powered off after it was done. i turned the phone back on.
then i upgraded the flex. again overwrite, master clear and master reset were checked. took about another 10 minutes. phone powered off when done.
when i turned the phone on it asked if i wanted to personalize it and dropped me into the personal prefs menu.

V600 caller ID
For example :
Joe Smith is in my phone book under 1.818.555.1234
If Joe Smith calls, the phone displays this 555.1234
Likewise, if I dial 555.1234 the callers name does not diplay - however if I dial it exactly like the phonebook entry - 1.818.555.1234 - it will show as Joe Smith.
Is this possibly because I copied the phonebook from my T720 instead of entering all of the numbers from scratch - or is there a setup step that I missed.
My T720 would show the name of the contact regardless of the format of the phone number - what gives ?

Quick question...
Here's what might be a dumb question - sorry if I should know this already - what is the best way to get my contacts (from my POS T720) to the V600.
I have an old SIM from another phone - do I just copy to the SIM, place it in the V600 and then add them - or is there antoher, better way to do this. Will MPT work with the 720, and can I place all the contact info on my home computers drive and then sync the V600.
What's the easiest way ???
Guide to AT&T mMode setup
http://support.attws.wdsglobal.com/ »
then from there go to:
Configure Your Device (go) >
Configure mMode WAP Service (go) >
Select Mobile Device (v600) >
Submit Mobile Device Number (your v600's ph. #) >
write down the PIN
Then AT&T will send your v600 a message, "READ" it, the v600 will say "Browser Update is required", select "UPDATE", enter the PIN from above, then mMode should be automatically added to your phone ...
Now you have to make sure mMode is the "default" ...
on your v600, go to:
Main Menu > WebAccess > Web Sessions
then scroll down until you see "mMode GPRS" and have it selected, then use the menu to "Set Default"
Then you should be all good to go đ
Cassie
Got it today!
I missed FedEx delivering but I went and picked it up after hours. Here's some quick notes.
The whole thing was in a large box. The phone was in a small Motorola box. The headset, faceplates and cable/cd were in plastic containers. The whole thing looks like it was picked up off of store shelves and bundled up. I imagine it was. There was also some bubblewrap in there wedging everything in place.
It came with a blue coverplate. đ In the box was a light silver coverplate. The blue one is a dark blue. Also in the phone box came the wipe-stick that Cassie mentioned. That will go unused. Haha.
The phone is a little heavier than I expected, but it feels very solid. The battery came with a full charge. I slipped in an activated AT...

I need advice/help. I live in NYC, don't have an account with ATTWS or TMOBILE, have account with Verizon. Here is my question:
- if i purchase from Plemix, how easy is it to have an account opened with either provider and utilize the V600?
- am i limited in functionality by selecting one of the providers?

thanks in advance. đŗ
