Motorola V710

I'm using my v710 as a modem to connect to the net from my Palm Zire 72. Works great except for one thing - if there isn't activity from the Zire after about a minute, the v710 will discconnect from the net.

So this is how it goes: Dial in - read a little on a web site - it disconnects - then either pull up another page, etc and it has to login all over again. Very annoying.

Anyone have a fix for this?

I've looked for some type of timeout setting but to no avail.

Brand new to forum 😁 I've been watchin this forum for 3 months about the V710 cuz I was due NE2. I got the V710 the day it came out and I love it. It does more than I really wanted in my new phone, but now I'm addicted to it. Here's my progress: Downloaded MPT v2.21e, Bitpim, and Gagin. Got a USB cable and car charger for V60 from ebay for $1.99. MPT works great and surfing the net with laptop. I want to upload and download pics, ringtones, games. I've got gobs of this stuff, but Bitpim, Gagin doesn't see my device. Do I have to use a seriel cable. Theres gotta be a way to transfer this tuff, or see my device. TNX

I have no idea but it seems that the majority of my phonebook entries have individual ringer set to silent? Anyway I can fix this on my pc, too time consuming 1 by 1 on phone I have MPT plus bitpim and qualcomm on my pc.

My phone just randomly turns off sometimes. And I try to turn it back on and it doesn't work. So I take out the battery and put it back in and it works. My phone is fully charged but I don't know why it just keeps turning off. Any ideas...please help... ☹️

hey if any of u live in manhattan or wanna stop around 34st in manhattan mall go and check the downstairs place there is a place where u can get light up antennas for ur v710 i got one that lights up a bright blue and then many other colors its really cool

To use my HS820, do I have to turn on BLUETOOTH on the phone first?

Doesn't that defeat the point???

Can't I leave Bluetooth turned on my phone all the time?

I've looked into a couple of issues with voicemail feature and Verizon

1. Dailing your cell number and then hitting # does NOT go against the "IN - Network" minutes, it actually goes against the anytime minutes. The reason, according to Verizon is because we are not calling another or a different number. It's the same as *86.

2. I've tried to change the "voice mail" dail number by going to the Message Center, then to the Message Settings, then to Voicemail No. and inserting a p and Password. Then going back to the Message Center, and then voicemail, then hitting call. should dail *86p(Password). This only happens if there isn't any voice message in the voicemail box, but if there is it will only dail *86.

Card readers are like 25.00 as against Verizons .25 charge.

Somebody from here recently gave me a g-mail account and i'm trying to find out how you get invites so I can send them out.

I've been trying to install my V710 on my computer but my computer never recognizes the driver off of the phonetools disk. How do I get it to work?

Also, I understand that you cannot transfer mp3s over the USB cable in order to preserve verizon's getItNow... have I been jerked?

I bought the Verizon phone software which came with a USB cable which I successfully used to connect with both the Verizon and MPT 2.21 products. I returned the Verizon software and cable because I thought MPT offered more features and got a cable on ebay but am having trouble connecting. The MPT software doesn't find the phone even if redirected to do so. The computer and cable look OK since the new cable works with the Verizon product. I would chalk the whole think up to specific V710 incompatibility but I know I got it to work once. Any others with similar problems?

Has anyone heard any update on when these (clamshell landscape) phones will be available?

Can anybody tell me if Verizon charges you minutes when you connect to Yahoo messenger, AIM or MSN Messenger via their “Mobile IM” application (Which by the way is a free download)

I am aware that the sending and receiving is treated like txt messaging. But I noticed that when telling the application to connect, that I see the icon for calls pop up. Which leads me to believe that it may be using some of my airtime.

Who knows what Verizon is reallty charging us, and for what.

I spoke to John Sturycz with Motorola's Consumer Advocacy Office today after I had sent in my suggestion to fix the speakerphone so it will operate with the flip closed. He sent me a FedEX letter asking me to call him regarding the fix. He told me that it was VERIZON'S DECISION not to offer that feature and it would have to be Verizon's decision to change that feature. It does not matter how many people complain to Moto, they are bound by contract to offer the phone the way we got it. He said they offered the phone to Verizon with the flip closed option but THEY declined. Moto can change the contract only with consent from Verizon.
