How to convert Radio Shack "FutureDial" Cable to standard Motorola cable...

Ok here is what you do...

Get something very sharp and chop off the black box by cutting on both sides of it.

Now you will see a shatload of silver wires, the do nothing so cut off quite a bit of the rubber and pull those ×××× wires back. Do this on both sides.

You should see some silver foil. Unwrap this on both sides and you should see a lot of wires on the side that plugs into your phone and four wires on the USB part (red, white, black, and green).

Now you need to strip all of the wires on the USB side of your cable.

USB pin 1 (red) - v600 pin 6 (Purple)
USB pin 2 (white) - v600 pin 5 (Grey)
USB pin 3 (green) - v600 pin 4 (Blue)
USB pin 4 (black) - v600 pin 1 (Brown)

(don't strip the whole wire, just enough t...

Messed with a V710 at Radio Shack in Arizona Today

I called around today and found out that only one Radio Shack in Phoenix, Arizona got a shipment of just two V710s. They haven't sold either of them.

I drove over there to try it out. I knew I wasn't going to buy it because it's far too pricy from RS. Verizon works with the price a bit and you can put 250 of the total price on your Verizon bill which is nice as I won't have 500 in bulk at one time.

Anyway. The phone was really nice. The inside seemed to grease up pretty fast as I was messing wth a floor model that was filthy.

Personally, I thought the camera and video quality was better than most phones. Definately better than the Sony Ericsson T616 and the Samsung a670 that I have had recently.

The video feature is r...

Outlook Compatible

Can i sync the v710 up with outlook to get my calender on the phone? Also, I was in the verizon store in nanuet, ny and the manager said the phone should be there by monday, and it will start selling as soon as they get it. I dont know if thats true because verizon workers seem to know little about the company and/or the phones. Does anyone know about syncing the outlook calender though?

Quick First Take on My V710

This was originally posted on my website, http://svenrox.com. More updates will be posted there along with a review soon, but I'll post the more "meaty" things here.

OK, I have to be quick, so here it is:

  • Excellent sound quality. I mean excellent sound quality.

  • Low sounding ear piece. It goes to 7 and should go to at least 9, if not 10.

  • Brilliant color screen (main unit) and great color screen when closed.

  • Amazingly accurate voice number and voice name dial.

  • LOUD ringer. Loudest I've ever heard.

  • Weak vibration and I mean weak.

  • Feels great in your hand the keys feel great, too.

  • The cursor (up, down, left, right) is a bit small and the OK button is

Does anyone have any information about whether the V710 is compatible?

Phone tools works great but does not alot

Phone tools will connect and also provides the drivers for the 710 once you online update it to latest version..

Bottom line is it does not do much that I can see..

RS-Austin, TX

😎

OK. Just picked up two V710's (the only two I know of in Austin) at RS in Highland Mall-Austin,TX.

VERY cool phone. I like it alot.

Pricing was as $349 for a 1 year contract renewal and a $70 rebate form (so $279 after rebate).

got mine today too!!

my local rs got only two in stock today bought the first one they have sold...policy as stated by rs employee about returns was 14 days to return 30 days to exchange.Pictures are what you would expect from a 1.2 meg and the other features I've played with so far are great..sound is clear, volume on ringer is loud, and..speakerphone is great..glad I got it ,glad I waited..only thing is they didnot have bluetooth head set... still so much to use and do with it..first impression is very good and I like the look and feel of the phone..guess it's whether you want a great phone or the perfect phone..(have'nt made that one let).. just my first thoughts...

v710 Selling, announcement, etc.

I spoke to my Verizon rep today, and we should be seeing this phone in early August. He tells me the phones have finally (!) been shipped from Motorola (they are the ones who held up the process, btw), and it would be about a week after receipt. Once the phones are in the stockroom, they lose money every day - so they need to go on sale.

And from this link:

http://www.mobiletracker.net/archives/2004/07/30/mot ... »

You can see more similar info and info about Radio Shack.

I hope all the idiots here who made the false claims have diarrhea for the rest of the year. They deserve it.

Handset Call Volume

I've been reading about a lot of people complaining about the volume of the earpiece in the handset speaker while on a call. I was wondering if any current V710 owners could comment on this? I currently have a T720 and I consider the call volume to be on the low side but acceptable. Is the V710 in call volume similar to the T720?

eng50: Phonetools didn't install

eng50: Thanks for posting the file for us! However, I get 2 garbage character display messages (some foreign language character set, I'm guessing) and then the installation terminates.

Someone mentioned that InstallShield is looking for a previously installed version of Phonetools. Did you already have that installed?

Thanks!

dont know if people know this

about people saying that the pics arent better quality...you have to put them on your comp to judge...the pics will look the same as other phones cuz the screen resolution is probably around the same...it could also be a bad flash and thats why it doesnt work it the dark, but a 1.3 mp camera isnt that great anyways. if this is not the problem then i dont know what is but im getting this phone for the mp3's and speakerphone.
