Radio Shack is NOT GOING TO GET THEM BEFORE VERIZON GETS IT. Thats like going to the Chevrolet dealership and asking to buy the 2006 Ford Mustang before Ford even sells it. Come on guys, when have you ever seen RS get a phone before Verizon does? The vx7000 was the most anticipated phone in years and RS just got it. Now the v710 is the most anticipated. But those orders on RS were a mistake just like the vx7000 was on the VZW website weeks before it was available when entering 99999 as the zip code. There is no way in hell RS will have this phone sooner or at the same time. It is in the RS contract with VZW. If the SD adapter is important to you for the transflash card:
I just spoke with Level 2 tech support at Sandisk...
Their 128 Transflash card DOES NOT come with the SD adapter.
As a matter of fact - they don't even make an SD adapter - but may come out with one in the fall.

So - at this point - if you want the SD adapter for the transflash card - you will have to get it from Motorola. However, I'd still recommend getting the Sandisk card from amazon or buy.com, as it is a fraction of the price of the Motorola advertised transflash card.

More importantly - does it matter that the Sandisk card doesn't come with the adapter???
I plan on using this card for additional storage on the phone - but plan on transferring files via bluetoo...

just got the call i've been waiting for! my local radio shack called me and told me the v710 would be in today or early tomorrow morning and they will be holding it for me. FINALLYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Is there a difference in the service that verizon provides me if I do purchase at Radio Shack? Do they have to service the phone? Am I screwed in two years if I try to get out of Radio Shack?

Sure enough, everything the people told me at 1-800-464-5365 was wrong about my order. Although my order shows as being shipped overnight freight, it never went through. And nobody's V710 will. There was a glitch in the system that they are working to resolve but in the meantime I was told to go back to Radio Shack, speak with the store manager to have him locate a phone for me and to get my $ refunded.

GRRRRRRR! Time to switch to AT&T and get the V600!

Does anyone know what type of headphones you can use to listen to MP3's on this phone? Do you need to use Motorola's MP3 ear phones or does it have a stereo jack that works with any generic pair of headphones? Can you use a Bluetooth device? Thanks for any info. raJ

i just stopped by radio shack and asked if they knew why the v710 was taken off the website and the woman told me it was bc they were getting too many complaints from people saying that if it was on the website that it should be in their stores. verizon had NOTHING to do with it.

I've been reading a lot about the restrictions with Bluetooth.

"Verizon has restricted it's capabilities so the bluetooth only function with wireless headset and for use with your computer as a modem"

With the stated quote mentioned above, would you be able to transfer MP3s and photos via the USB data cable and Mobile Phone Tools 2.0? Can you also use the address book feature in Mobile Phone Tools to store your phone numbers and calendar of events from your phone? I know with Palm devices, you can import your address and calendar into the Palm Desktop Software's integrated program.

Maybe it's not a restriction that Verizon has placed on the phone, but perhaps the incompatibility with Mobile Phone Tools 2.0 and the v710 bei...

I looked around for the Transflash card and saw that Amazon says "not yet released" and has it priced around $33.99.

Buy.com (who I have ordered many things from in the past) has a 128Mb Transflash for $31.55 with free shipping.
They are listing it as "in stock".

I ordered mine yesterday, and it appears to be shipping today.

I pulled it up at 8:45 this AM, and now it's not there.

I called this morning and spoke to a rep who said my order had been cancelled. Apparently she actually delt with a few people with this issue and said they contacted local stores to find availability for pickup (when the stores receive them). Apparently non-activated phones are not supposed to be shipped out through the mail(according to her) and this phone basically slipped through the ordering cracks. She said my card would be issued a credit.

Interestingly enough I placed the order on Sunday, called yesterday morning to find that the phone supposedly shipped but did not have a tracking # yet. The lady I spoke to this morning said the rep I spoke with yesterday assumed it was shipped because there was a link for a shipper but no tra...

I am eagerly awaiting the V710 just like you all. So I am going to get it most likely the day it is available or soon there after. But my gut instinct is to wait...but I can't.
So to my question, what kind of recourse is there if there is problems with the phone, software, firmware, blue tooth connectivity. That is the reason I think I should wait and see what the general concensus is. But again I want it bad.

I would say that all the RS orders will be delayed until next week which will coincide with VZW official release of August 3rd.
