710 ad in new ESPN Magazine!!

In the new issue of ESPN the magazine July 19th issue with peyton manning and Serena williams and carmelo anthony on the cover. It is a full page ad showing the phone and its capabilities( 1.2 megapixel camera, 256K color screen, speakerphone,MP3 player)etc. It is on page 51 and obviously it is nearing its long awaited debut! I have heard july 19th from reliable VZW sources, but we have to wait until monday when they get their inventory shipments!! I sure hope it is out soon, because it will be worth the $250 investment with all of its features!!

Some more info

Clue was right about the phones being in the warehouse. Being the spoiled brat that I am, I went into the VZW store in Rockville, Maryland and I threw a bit of a fit because this phone wasn't in yet. I had the guy look everywhere on his computer to see if he could find anything, and he found that same internal link that was posted before. In the New Jersey warehouse, as of Monday, there were 150 Motorla V710's, with 8000 on order to arrive there sometime this week. He even let me step behind his desk area to take a look for myself, because I kept saying he was lying just to shut me up. So the phones are coming in and the way he put it, if the order is there and the phones are coming in, it should only be 2 - 3 weeks at most until they are re...

The Verizon wait is over (almost) - Treo 600 coming July 19th.

This is the first time I've ever posted any date speculation on this site, but I'm certain this is ironclad info. The Verizon business reps (and maybe others) just had a meeting this morning about (guess what)...the Treo 600. My biz rep told me that it will be out Monday, July 19.

Also, there will be discounts for those who choose the unlimited data plan (money off the phone and off the data plan), in addition to any corporate discounts you receive.

I wrote the expected price on a pad and left it at work. However, I believe with the discount you would get it for mid 300s.

To Rich Brome - suggestion

Rich,

Just a thought...

In hopes to perhaps head-off-at-the-pass the two most asked questions posted on this forum everyday, how about editing the header at the top of this forum from

Motorola V710

to

Motorola V710 (no one yet knows the release date nor the price of this phone)

or something along those lines.

Hopefully,

Mike

external display shut off?

I picked up the 7000 to kill some time yesterday. What's really really annoying me about it is that the external lcd shuts off after a while so if I want to see the time, I have to press a button.

Does anyone know if the 710 does something like this or if this is something standard on phones with external lcds? I'm upgrading from a v60i so it's been a while...

Chance of cancellation of the V710

I really hate not having a good date to shoot for anymore. The "in" folks were giving us days to shoot for. Not anymore. Seems when this phone comes out truly is anyone's guess. I was looking forward to the 9900 also, but, from the "in" folks, that phone has been axed. Is there any real chance of this phone getting axed?

Advertising

Well, I'm driving home today and I pass a Verizon Wireless store. I notice a huge sign, which takes up one of the entire windoe panes which reads: "We have Bluetooth phones and accessories in stock and available." So I had to go inside. I was told that the sign was put up 2-3 days ago because that is when they were told the V710s would arrive. However, they have not received them yet but should be "any day now." Just thought it was interesting that the store would have the sign available and ready to hang if the phone wouldn't be available until August.

Bluetooth profiles

I just noticed on the info page that it says the phone supports Handsfree, Headset and Dialup Networking profiles.

I remember reading something (possibly one of the fantastic theory posts) about there being limited use of Bluetooth.

This may have been asked before but I'm using dial up right now and don't feel like going back through 100+ pages of threads to find a possible answer.

Does this mean that you won't be able to send files to and from the phone via bluetooth? A big part of the interest for me is that exact function. Seeing as I've owned the Ericsson T68i and now have the Nokia 3620, I've become pretty accustomed to not haveing to pay every time I want to send a picture to a friend.

Concrete Proof on the V710

I have been monitoring this web site since back when the v710 was announced. Unfortunately a form such as phonescoop use to be a great place to receive concrete release information. Lately most of the postings have been a complete joke. The true release date for the v710 is mid August. How do I know this. I work for a fortune 500 company that spends neary $30,000 a month with Verizon on service. When we told our Verizon corp. sales rep. we needed bluetooth capability or we would switch to At&t he researched the release date for the v710 and got back to us that he could assure us the phones would be available to us in August. Now everyone can relax and stop posting bullshit about when they think the phone will be released.

Upgrade

I am currently in the middle of my 2 year contract and would anyone like to speculate on how much it would cost to just upgrade to the V710? Thanks.

Release mentioned on Investors.com

Ratings roundup

In other calls from the sell-side, Thomas Weisel Partners bumped its recommendation on Motorola (MOT) up to "outperform" from "peer perform" while also raising earnings estimates for the fiscal 2004 and fiscal 2005.

Underpinning the upgrade was strength was continued strong momentum in handsets with checks showing the handset division performance tracking strongly near-term while new handset product introductions could make for a better than expected second half.

"With a slate of new product introductions around the bend, MOT's second half 2004 performance could turn out to be better than the 'worst case' scenario we have been building into our model," analyst Hasan Imam wrote in a note to clients.

Imam also noted...

Will you be able to download AIM/MSN/YAHOO app With Get It Now w/ V710?

Although I don't see why not, I think this feature is mainly an LG thing with Verizon. Does anyone know?
