710 is NOT being released!!!

I work for VZW and just spoke to my District Manager who has informed us that the 710 is not being released anytime soon if ever. So please do not go into our Verizon stores asking us when it is coming out anymore. It is not being released. Leave us poor sales reps alone. I do not want to have to answer this question ever again! If anything you will be lied to by a sales rep for his/her own amusement. Which we have been doing lately. "Yes sir, it should be out on Friday." or " Yes ma'am..It's already out in California. Should be here soon." Nope. Not coming. Software apparentely sucks.

Expiration Date Change

I don't know if anyone has noticed but...
On the Offer Details page for the V710, it used to have and expiration date of July 10, now it says(cut & paste):

Offer expires August 1, 2004 or while the first 710 offer packages last.

Maybe they are still a little optimistic or maybe they know something they aren't telling.

Firmware upgrades?

As has been mentioned in this forum, we can probably expect this phone to have a series of firmware updates after it is released. I'm wondering what the procedure is for updating a moto phone. Is there some place you can go to download the updates, or what? How does that work?

UNSOLICITED ADVICE

YOU CAN READ EVERY MESSAGE IN THIS FORUM TILL THE COWS COME HOME AND COME TO ONLY ONE CONCLUSION, NOBODY KNOWS DIDDLY-SQUAT ABOUT WHEN THESE PHONE IS BEING RELEASED!! INSTEAD, PISS AWAY YOUR MONEY ON A NICE DIGITAL CAMERA OR SOMETHING AND CHILL OUT, THERE IS GREAT STUFF OUT THERE AND YOU WILL MORE THAN LIKELY BE MORE SATISFIED.

Bluetooth Transflash File Transfer?

I have heard that the phone does not support OBEX, i am a little lazy to try to figure out what that means, but, from what I have gathered, it means that the phone CANT transfer ringers and pictures to/from the phone. Does this same limitation extend to transferring files to/from the transflash slot? Will the additional purchase of a memory card reader be required?

Thanks agian for the GR8 info!

V710 Release

Wait a minute everyone...I'm not trying to contradict what The Al has provided for us...Thanks Al...but I thought a couple of pages ago someone posted something about the phones being in the warehouse...it was by Clue I believe...he posted a link to but it was only accessible by VZW employees or VZW computers or something...so wouldn't this mean that the phone would be here sooner than 3 Weeks...Because I believe that Al you stated that part of the 3 week process was to ship Moto's inventory yo VZW warehouses...right...so...either I'm just really eager or this makes some sense...opinions please?

The web site

Does anybody remember how far in advance the 7000 first appeared on the VZW web site under the 99999 zip code before it went on sale?

v810 ALSO says July 2004

Someone posted last night that the V810 also says July 2004, so that date really may not mean much (lest the V810 is now scheduled for a July release too...)

Stereo headset adapter?

I have been keeping up with this forum (as absurd as it has become at times) and have yet to find out if a stereo headset adapter would be made available. I contacted motorola requesting info about this but they never got back to me. While I do not plan on using this as an mp3 player much, the use of it on the train would be nice. Like most of the PDA phones and korea's vx8000, they have an adapter that is basically a mic with stereo headset plug. I was wondering if anyone that has methods to contact verizon testers or motorola reps could ask them this question. I submitted this question under the alchemist's thread but somehow it got turned into a games convo. I am the last one to make useless posts, but I thought this would be something...

V710 Released In July According To PhoneScoop

Hey Everyone,

To counter the alchemist argument about an August release date, the info page for phonescoop has changed from "mid2004" to July 2004. Looks like they know something and it means its coming out in july. Its getting closer gentleman

If the vx7000 flash is...

so much better than the v710 then the v710's flash is probably useless. I took several pictures with the VX7000 flash and it is a joke. Its basically no more than a pen light. Trust me.

No offense ecko but your picture taking prowess is nothing to brag about so I take your opinion on the camera with a grain of salt. You couldn't even take a good pic with a 5mp digital cam in your posted pictures, everythig was blurry and dark. LOL

Duh, excuse me but did we learn anything new from alchemist?

everyone calm down, cause he said that at the moto gathering, where all the moto people were yucking it up and passing around phones, it was told to him that the phones are ready and good to go and WHEN verizon says boo, then 3 weeks later they will hit shelves.People, thats what moto has been telling us for 3 months.Everytime u call the 800 # in ****ing India, they say that the phones r ready and good to go and theyre just waiting on VZW to say boo, so what was learned today that we didnt know yesterday or 3 months ago? Not a ****ing thing.Moto is ready and has been while VZW will decide if n when. Nothing new that I can see????????????
