Motorola V710

Ok...yeah I know tons of these conversations have been posted but I just thought that I'd share what I learned...

I live in fresh aired LA but am on vacation visiting my family in Iowa...so I stopped by the local VZW store to ask some questions and check out the VX7000...I personally think the vx7k is a flimbsy POS...it felt cheap to me and I had trouble with the menus...and its not HUGE I think it's a perfect size...anyway...I also thought the menus were diffucult to navigate through but then again I didn't change the style or anything...so..anyway...I went to the desk and asked about the V710 release and the guy knew what I was talking about...he was told mid-July...if he's right that would bring us to what next week or so...maybe a lit...

I work for verizon wireless. I made a call to an associate on this 15 day issue. You have 15 days to change your mind on phones. You can try as many phones as you want for the first 15 days. After that, it is your phone! (Unless you buy at full retail.) By the way the end of Q2, or 2nd quarter, is the end of June. The Moto 710 will not be out for AT LEAST 2 weeks.

What's up everybody. I've been looking through this forum for months hoping to find out a release date that's real and gather as much information as possible about this phone. But I've finally realized that 99% of this forum is total bullsh!t. I just read an article today about this phone on another site which states the phone is not supposed to be available until the end of Q2. And that means the end of this month "July". So that left me thinking to myself that all these post about the bugs and recalls and how the phone should have been released months ago are all **** lies. i really have no use for bluetooth, so im just wondering...if bluetooth is virtually non existent (for me it will be) ...which phone is better?

I want to thank you for the information u've given us in regards to the v710. You gave us hope after all the mumbo jumbo going on in the past 109 pages. You've been very patient especially with repetitive questions. U must be a calm person. 🙂 Anyhow, thank you again. 🙂

A few questions. First, can the V710 handle MP3s at a bit rate of 192kbps and higher? Second, is the quality of the V710's camera so much better than the VX7000 as to put the VX7000 to shame? Thirdly, how is the flash on the V710? Is it better than that of the VX7000? Fourthly, how many colors can the external display on the V710 handle? 256, 4,000, 65,000, what? Ecko, can you state again why it is exactly that you chose the VX7000 over the V710? Finally, forgive these redundant questions, but I would just like to get the answers to these questions back out in the open with detailed answers to them. Thanks to you both.

This will hopefully be the last time this comes up and I just wanted to clarify this so I don't see multiple threads steming from this.

You can have external picture caller id but the external screen resolution is so low and isn't in full color that you may not want to do that because the picture will look horrible.

You can also take a picture using the external screen but like I said since the resolution on the external screen is pitiful the picture will also look horrible.

Once and for all, hopefully, you CANNOT change the external screen at all. There is no option in the menu to change that setting in any way at all. The screen that you see in my pictures as well as The Alchemist pictures is the external screen and there ...

They dropped the 9900 Audiovox permanently today and they are releasing the 710 in the next 2 weeks.

SHould be interesting to see how bad Moto did this time ?

has verizon figured out a final date to release the phone and what price is it going to be????


I talked to motorola today they said that they didn't know a date or price.

So if the v710 keeps getting delayed, as we all see, then does that delay the release of the vx8000, or are they gonna release that whenever it is ready-meaning possibly before the v710 is ready? 😕

Our Business Account Executive told our company this mid morning they were told at a meeting yesterday the phone will be released this month. The way it works for non-store clients is he will get a call saying the 710 goes on sale the next day and he will overnight in the 710 or any other model we desire.

I couldn't take it anymore and I walked over to ATT Wireless to test one of their phones. While last year I had no service were I was with ATT, this year I have stronger reception and clearer calls then Verizon.

I took the SonyEricson T637 to determine if it works and it worked great. Also the plans are cheaper (74.99 1250 minute, unlimited nights and weekends, nights starting at 7, unlimited roaming, and unlimited nationwide) and I have Bluetooth.

I am going to be testing it for a few more days if it works, GOODBYE Verizon, CAN YOU HEAR ME NOW. Plus ATT (Cingular) is getting the MPx220 (what more could I ask for).

I have contacts in the retail channel as well as our marketing, testing, and tech support channel, and have played with the phone myself. My teammate has one in my cubicle as we speak. I have heard earliest will be August. (Mid) from a variety of sound sources in our organization. ☹️

Does anyone at Verizon or Motorola - or anyone who already has this phone know what Bluetooth Profiles it will work with other than acting as a modem (DUN)? Microsoft is finally integrating Bluetooth Support into Windows with SP 2 (one of the new features is "Bluetooth File Transfer Wizard"), and I am hoping that this will provide a way to connect with this phone (if it ever comes out). Because it's really going to drive me crazy to have to wait for PhoneTools 3.0 to transfer files after waiting this long for the phone.

I just got off the phone with Verizon, and I asked the immortal question: WHEN!??!?

And she calmly informed me "August". When I asked when in Aug., she said "Mid-August." 🙄
