Why I'm frustrated with VZW and the V710...

VZW finally has a chance to be ahead of the other carriers in terms of having a feature loaded phone but it's delayed and delayed and delayed. They admit that they are usually the followers (and not the leaders) when it comes to phones with new features (i.e. memory card slot, MP3 player, 1.2MP camera) but they finally have a chance to get people like us to stop complaining about their phone selection and blow past all the other service providers out there. I'm happy that they have the best network out there but don't rest on your laurels because your competitors will catch up. I'm also frustrated that Motorola can't get the bugs worked out of the firmware so that Verizon will approve it. They've dealt with Verizon for years and they kno...

Repeated banter...

So my Verizon rep was into my store (circuitcity) around the 29th of May?? and told me he was "playin around with the phone the other day" and that he was told they would release on "july 1st if they could get the ad campaign together, if not then, then july 7th."

well obviously the 1st has come and gone. and we find ourself here on the 7th. so take what you will.

For Ecko

First off I just want to say thanks for all of the question answering and picture posting you did when you first received the phone. You did far better than anyone else thus far dispelling/confirming rumors about this phone. Much appreciated.

My last question for you is, you've been one of the very few people to be able to use the v710 and vx7000 side by side. Now you're selling off the v710- where there any distinct reasons that drove you to this decision? I remember you said you like the appearance of the vx7000 more. Either which way, was there anything besides the appearance that made you choose one over the other?

Thanks in advance for answering one last nagging question.

Thanks Alot Verizon!

I don't know if anyone else agrees with me or not but what would be so wrong with Verizon simply telling us that because they want to provide their customers with quality hardware and equipment this phone is being delayed until _____ . I would much rather have a hard date from my celluar company, even if it is one or two months down the road, rather than suffer through all this speculation and dates that come and go with no new releases. And I know it's just a cell phone, but I have had it with my T720 and I would just like to know when I will be able to get trid of it. Personally I would appreciate that kind of straightforward honest response from Verizon and I believe a lot of you here would too.

Cingular anyone?

I too have been putting off getting a new phone since late march. During that month, i worked HARD researching alternative phone companies, their phones and their service. I had pretty much decided to get the Toshiba 4050 (from Sprint, think i got the model right). That phone had pretty much every band on it, i need coverage (roaming or not). I loved the screen, i hated the style of it (that case is ugly). I was going to "get over it" and buy it anyway. I had even talked to Sprint telling them that I was a 10 year customer of verizon (was bell atlantic when i started), I asked them if there was anything they could do to further "entice" me to switch. We worked out a few things, i was almost prepared to make the jump when i found out a...

On pondering the vx7000 over the v710

Went to the shgop today to look at the vx7000. I can say it's a nice phone. However if you drop it like I usually do the rotating camera piece seems vey cheap and likely to break very easily if hit in the right spot.

The menu is quick and functionality is very user friendly. Only took me about 2 minutes to get use to. The camer was ok but the "flash", if you want to call it that, is abismal.

It is a very "thick" phone and seems tall too. Not boding well for people who pocket their phones. Also when holding it the phone housing feels very cheap and plasticy.

The outer display is ok but not that great. Wallpaper on the outer screen is very dim. The inner display is very nice and crisp though with very fast menus.

My v...

Internet access

Does vzw act as the ISP if you use the v710 (or other phone)? Can you only use 1xRTT if you are using their internet access services? Or, is it possible to use a cheap ISP to dial into with this phone but still use the faster connection speeds? Thanks

In Lieu of Useless Speculation...

...about release dates:

There are some people out there who apparently have actually had v710 phones in hand for days (weeks?) now. How about if they provide us with some detailed reviews, critiques and commentaries?

Interesting event unfolded today...

I went to my local VZW store today to play with (and possibly) pick up the VX-7000. I noticed the salespeople were unordinarilty on edge. I was curious as to why everyone in the store seemed like they were on a mission and I was told by the salesman that the District Manager was there visiting with the Associate Director of Store Operations. I took advantage of this opportunity and made conversation with both. I told them that I wasn't sure about upgrading my phone (T720) because I was waiting on the v710. I asked them if they had any idea when the phone would come out and both replied that they didn't but they could ask the guy that would. They emailed the guy that is in charge of equipment purchases (from the manufacturers) who's out...

problems with 710?

A friend of mine is testing the 710 and said it's a great phone, with two exceptions.

1.) the camera takes good pictures, but when you click the button to snap the pic, it waits about 3/4 a second before actually taking the picture. I guess it's not a huge deal if you are used to it, but you just have to know to wait before moving the phone. Otherwise all your pictures turn out blurry from moving the phone/camera too soon.

2.) The outgoing audio is bad. Meaning when you are talking to someone, the person on the other end says, "Are you using the motorola again?" That gets kind of annoying after a while. The incoming audio is great though.

The test unit is not a final production phone and these could be fixed. just thought ...

vox8920 - 1st megapixel from Sprint

👿 Havent posted in a while because everything that needs to be said has already been said. But now I find out that we're close to getting a megapixel phone from Sprint @ RadioShack and its starting to tick me off. Granted its a Vox and kinda cheap looking but still Sprint keeps coming out with better phones all the time always sooner than Verizon. I dont buy that testing crap. Sprint came out with the 1st ptt & camera & camcorder all in one Sanyo VM 4500 and its one of the most solid phones out there. I'm still gonna wait for the V710 to replace my beat up Vox 9500 (I no longer have an antenna and its all scratched up), but I just wanted to rant a little.

Everyone needs to chill...

Sitting here whining and bitching about the phone not being out isnt going to make it come out any sooner. Obviously there are numerous different reports from numerous VZW CS reps and others that claim to have knowledge of the phone, but each has a different date or month.

So just relax! It will come out when it comes out. Then we all can be happy. Yay! 🙂

I'm SO close to just getting the VX7000 its not even funny

If this 1-2 month rumor is true, SCREW this phone. I'm not waiting that long when I have the extremelly old LG VX-10. I'm sick of this waiting bulls**t. Either release the damn phone now or cancel it all together. I can't wait any longer.

What is the problem

What is up with VZW and new phones. They suck! that is what is up. With the amount of money I give/invest for my service to this company, you would think they could get their act together when it comes to new phones. Come on Verizon! Get it together or lower your rates until you do! Yea I know - Go to other company if I'm not happy, but I also don't want to pay 200 bucks for that freedom.
