Motorola V710

no better news here with a date

Well, I know we've all heard a million different dates, have had Mr. X @ VZW tell me this, and Mr. Y at a VZW reseller tell me that.

I want this phone as badly as anyone else, but based on teh conversation I just had with a very nice Customer Service Rep (in the Wallingford, CT call center) I'm guessing the phone won't be out in the next week.

I called up asking when my contract expires, and the CSR (Lynette) proceeded to ask me why I am thinking about chnaging carriers. I told her that despite the fact that VZW's network is great, their phone selection is horrible.

I told her that I need to have a bluetooth capable phone by the end of the month (my contract ends the 27th) and while I would like to stay with VZW, if they aren't cap...

Anyone else notice the new exhibits on the FCC pages about SAR reporting and how the phone had to be retested? MAYBE this is why the phone is being delayed? Possibly because there are holes in the FCC submittal? Who knows how many other attestation statements Motorola is addressing?

I dont mind the cursing so much, but could we lay off the racial stuff a bit. Not trying to be ultra-sensitive, but that's really putting this forum in the gutter.

aren't you glad that at the end of the day you can read all these posts and know that you're not the only one obsessing? Just giving a thanks to everyone for their posts who took time out to try and give us some helpful info, even if it was for only a moment. And a special thanks to ecko for giving all of us hope. 😉

If the kid has the phone then he has the phone, if he doesnt want to prove it then he doesnt have to prove it. But to tell us that it takes a phone for him to get laid? That's another forum we should start to crack on this kid. Bottom line if he has the phone then let him jerk off to it every night the rest of us are just gonna have to wait til it "actually" comes out. No sense in replying to this guy cuz you and I both know that we're not gonna see pictures of it on this page or any other page any time soon. Let the kid have his fun its summer schools out probably has nothing better to do.

If you dont acknowledge the person's postings he/she might go away and let us get back to our regular speculative date posting / lie busting / general-goofing-off-at-work.

I just thought of a new reality TV show... it can be about all these people living in a house waiting on UPS to deliver a new phone. only, they dont know when it was shipped by the company and UPS can decide when to deliver it! The camera crew can go through the lives of each of these people waiting on this phone. Some people will even make model phones from clay and try to trick the other people into joining their team. They could even have relationships based on the hope of getting the phone! Yeah... this could be such a great tv show....

The 6th has now come and gone...and I'll admit that I believed in the 1st and the 6th but now that it's passed...what are people thinking of now...I say 7th-14th...Again I don't work for Verizon but I have a feeling that the phone is coming soon...those who work for Verizon and have seen that shipping thing posted by Clue...how long has that been up? And where are those phones located...does that mean they are in some warehouse or something? or in stores? Is the only difference between the 2 that the a840 allows for gsm and cdma? Are there any other differences?

Don't you think that those who signed up with the Motorola web site would be notified that the V710 was released? Don't you think that would be a reliable indication? 🙄

This is my first post here, although I've been following this forum for weeks now.

I am waiting to see the v710 in person, should be good. However, I beleive that the vx8000 will be the better phone because it supports the new 1xEVDO data speeds. Broadband power within your phone. I saw a video on CNET from the CTIA convention where they take a look at the LG VX8000 and it looks shiney. Has the higher color specs on both inside and outside lcd. Has the quality CCD lens. Take a look. It won't come out for another 3 months or so though looking at the FCC approved date. Ususally takes about 9-10 months from then. Drawback is lack of bluetooth. Anyhow, I'm sure you guys already knew all this. The v710 is probably going to come out a...

I just read about the new A630:

It seems as though it has:
- Camera
- Spearkerphone
- Bluetooth
- virtually the same dimensions as the v710
- better PIM features
- PLUS a FULL KEYBOARD HIDDEN IN THE CLAMSHELL!!

Doesn't the A630 basically have all of the features of the v710 plus the ability to write tons of text messages and do e-mail (almost like a smaller blackberry) with the full keyboard?

It's due out Q3 2004 and is under Cingular.
Granted that I like Verizon's coverage more than Cingular in the Northeast - aside from provider choice, can anybody think of any reason why I would want the v710 over this phone?

Went in not looking for the v710 so I didn't look suspicious. I asked for the phones available with bluetooth and if they had Verizon plans.

The answer I got: only the v600 for AT&T which they dont even have in stock right now. In addition the store doesn't even carry Verizon phones or plans.
