V710 Screen Question

Hey
I've been looking around for a new phone recently and have it down to either the Lg vx7000 or the V710, but leaning more towards the 710. I just had a question since you guys seem to be really knowledgeable about this stuff, Is the screen on the outside of the V710 colored, like will the outside screen have picture ID like the VX7000?

Thanks

postponed? not what i heard

People in this forum say the vx7000 has been postponed, let me interpet:
this means the phone did not come out on the date that their uncles, cousins, sons, nephew sisters husband who knows a friend at taco bell who servrd someone who knows someone who works at vzw.
For new people to this forum, take note from a long time visitor. Believe nothing you read in this forum, just read for humor and or technical questions. Phones will be released on schedule when vzw wants. usually 8 months behind everybody else.
Still waiting for 710 like everyone else.
P.S. I have money against the july 6 date!

Bluetooth Question....

Will there be a hub of some sorts that comes with the v710 to allow you to go on your computer wireless, or will there be a seperate accessory you can buy eventually?

July 1st or 6th

Ok...so Verizon postponed the release of the Vx7k to July 1st...was this done for a dual launch Vx7k/V710 or was there something wrong with the phone or something went wrong with VZW? If it was postponed for a dual launch then that would mean the V710 will be coming out on July 1st...right? If the vx7k was postponed for other reasons such as problems with the phone or whatever...then does that mean the V710 will be coming out July 6th...This July 6th thing also goes along with the whole Tuesday thing which I have never really payed any attention to but whatever...opinios? 🙂

Web Surfin' Question

Hi to all....especially to those that have (or have had) the v710 (and the vx7000).

I was wondering if anyone could provide a description of what it's like to surf the web on these phones. Of all the features, I would really like to access some websites without having to use the boring old WAP screens (all text); you know to have the ability to actually see some f'n html content....like going to my yahoo fantasy team and adjusting my lineup, for example.

I read that Openwave's latest browser can do some html rendering and would appreciate any input you all have on the matter.

Thank you,

John

v710 Availability

Hello all...

I called VZW and spoke to a sales rep; I mentioned some of the confusion about when this phone would be available, etc. She said the best information she had available is about 1 week from now.

Honestly, I've never seen so much hype over a phone -- but I am excited to get it.

I don't think the Motorola v600 is as good with the basic features (anyone?) - and certainly I'd have to go with Cingular to get that phone.

If you think the 710 is too BIG... here's an easy way to confirm....

Walk into any AT&T store and hold the Motorola V600 phone they sell now. It looks VERY similar to the 710... and is actually a bit smaller. But when I held it... it just felt TOO big for me. I should mention that I like small phones and currently have a Samsung a530. I like the 710 for its features, but size will be a big issue here.

Anyhow, check out the v600 in stores now and you can see if you'll like the 710 or not. Remember, the 710 is even BIGGER than the 600... specs are on PhoneScoop.

Exactly HOW does one use a cellphone to dial-up to their ISP?

I’ve been wanting a bluetooth enabled cellphone ever since I bought my iPAQ 2215 (has integrated bluetooth) back in November. Just didn’t like the Eriksson ones AT&T-W had, and their V600 (NICE phone!) just didn’t have the signal strength in my region (Binghamton NY area). So, I’ve been patiently waiting for VZW to bring one out (I'm even more pleased it’s gonna be a flip-fone).

Anyway, exactly HOW does one use the cellphone as a cell modem? I am sure the linking of the phone to the iPAQ via bluetooth will be a breeze, but without an integrated modem in either device, how do I dial-up my ISP on the cell and create an online conenction? I do still use dial-up on my home PC connection and of course plan on using them for the cell-iPAQ usage...

Video message length..

I work at VZW, just had a Moto vendoe come in and show the phone. I was told 15 seconds of video length max(ehh ehmm ecko). On the top of the phone theres a notch for a memory chip. Video can actually be up to 3 minutes. not bad huh. sorry ecko thanks for the other in-sights though...

aldcon, whats your take on comparison w 710 n 7000

you'd trade a 710 for a 7000? Why and we'd all like to hear detailed comparisons on the 2 phones that r coming soon. PS- VZW EMPLOYEE, a trusted post'r on hofo who always comes thru says his store has 10 7000s for tommorow. Guess theyll sell em even tho video messaging is delayed till July1.

prices

Ive heard 2 prices from VZW 399 and 449. Others have heard 499, so either way, the retail price will be 399-499. Aldcon has one now for sale for 500, if u dont want to wait till july6.

Interesting

It is kind of interesting. Motorola is confident that the V710 will come out before or by the 7th of July. Most likely, Motorola has that same confidence in the V810. LG is confident that the VX7000 is going to come out "soon." Of course, they have been saying that for weeks, so with each passing week their confidence seems to be less founded. Samsung, as usual, has no idea of when Verizon is going to release their phone. Or at least if they do they are not saying. Then, of course, there are those on this forum that also share Motorola's confidence in the before or by the 7th of July. What is more, Verizon said earlier this year that we would see three things happen before or by 12.31.04: the introduction/deployment of video messagin...
