My Experience one Afternoon at a Verizon Wireless Store
I just returned from my local VZW store. As some of you may know, I was the dramatic person on the board a few weeks ago who lost his cell phone outside and it was ruined by rain.
Well, I got a loaner from one of my coworkers, and for the past few weeks I've been working seven days a week from 8:AM - 9😛M. Today's been my first day off in a long time.
So I had the opportunity to go to VZW and activate the loaner until the beloved V710 came out.
Here's the conversation I had with tech support while I was in VZW
Me: When is the Motorola V710 coming out, that's what I'm really waiting for!?!?
Tech: (Smile) Towards the latter part of the year. That all I can say.
Me: Really! Wow!

need link to hi (higher) res pics of this phone
Sorry folks, I am new to this forum and I need some better pictures of the V710. I recall seeing some a few weeks ago and have lost that thread. Any help would be appreciated.
And for my two cents ... I have been selling and using cell phones since 1982 and I have seen lots of excitement over the new releases over the years. The speculation and the corporate stance of Verizon about this phone reminds me so much of the release of the Nokia 8860 (thru AT&T) in the late 90's. I would speculate a release of the Moto V710 within a couple of weeks. That's what I think. What I KNOW is that if the V710 actually powers up when you turn it on (and then does nothing else) ... it will be a better phone than the Nokia 8860. 🙂

VZW Commercial
Okay, I've only seen the commercial one time but I swear that the person in the commercial has a V710 in his hand. It is the one commercial where some guy's friends keep calling him up because he is the first one to get a real job. Just curious. Anyone else notice this?

HoFo has blurb about 710, says end of second quarter. Same for Nokia 6255
No indication of where the info comes from. Phonescoop has the 6255 as 4th quarter.

Might cross over to cingular
Being that this phone hasn't seem to come yet, i think i might switch to cingular, does anyone have any idea about service in NY with cingular, the v600 is the same exact phone except for the fact u can take ur self portrait with the external display with the v710.

I just spoke to my contact at verizon headquarters and they said that the v710 is deffinetly coming out the 20th. This is exciting guys 😉 I CANT WAIT

the first 710 buyers get free accessorie but what about the west coast?
I feel gyped if the first 710 buyers get a free accessorie and there is no way for me on the west coast to get in on this action. Do u think they will release it at a universal time? i.e noon there and 9am here? or are we just out of luck??

Verizon "cool" quotient going down?
If Verizon does not get on the ball (and fast) ... the other networks (namely AT&T) are going to start to look pretty good to this long time Verizon customer. I used to be an AT&T customer and recall no great disappointments with service in my area. Add to that, a SonyEriccson S700 (super sexy phone) and you have the makings of a rat gladly jumping ship!

MP3 Player? Speaker Phone?
is there going to be head phones or something like that for just listening to mp3s? i mean 256 mb card is HUGE and that would fit a lot of em... wut else could a 256 mb card be for???

VZW and Phone Releases
I don't know why VZW takes so long in releasing new phones. I understand that they put it through rigerous testing. However, all the other carriers are popping out new/cool phones left and right and everything works on theirs. Look at Sprint for example. They come out with cool phones most the time and they don't take long to release them either. Everything works on theirs. I had Sprint for quite a while before I moved to VZW. VZW services works exceptionally well for me, but i have to admit their phone selections suck big time. I hear people talking about it all the time. I know of 3 people that are leaving VZW for another carrier because of VZW lack of phones and new phone releases. I just wish that VZW would get on the ball with...

Why it takes so long
There is a reason Verizon takes so long to release their phones. Think about it. They have one guy going around the entire United States asking "Can you here me now?" It takes a long time to cover everywhere.

What exactly can be reprogrammed in a cell phone?
If this has been asked before, forgive me.
I am wondering what can be changed in a given phone's operation once people have it. I know that there is thing called "reprogram" (Heck, VZN pretty much insists I do it every half year...).
Can the phone's functionality be reprogrammed?
If it is determined that OBEX is needed, can that be added? -- I assume OBEX is a strictly software thing.
What about the phone number directories? Can those be changed, and new functionality added?
If, through a general revolt (or a real change of heart by VZN), they decide that users should be able to use Bluetooth for more than it will be (if what I read about VZN crippling that feature is true), can they do it to an existing phone?

👿 The phone will be out when it comes out!
Damn stop going to stores and asking, they are just going to tell u a time frame to keep you waiting. It will come out sometime this QTR or 4QTR. Its not coming out in 2 or 3 weeks. We know when phones are coming out about 2weeks before hand and I haven't heard anything yet. I work in the same building as the marketing team who knows when phones come out and send us the training packet on the phones and they don't know when its coming. SO PEOPLE STOP GETTING YOUR HOPES UP LIKE LAST FRI. IT WILL BE OUT WHEN IT GETS OUT. DAMN! Every other day we have to come in hear and see somebody say I found out from this person's cousin and that person aunt who know someone who works for Motorola and is ...

I agree w iconic, and am passing on the 670 (comes out 6-8) because
cant video message. Im actually leaning towards the 7000 tho because LG is better and easier than moto and my 6000 blows away my friends moto 600 (small numbers, lousy menu, dim etc etc), and probably VZW will release both around 6-15. We'll see.
