Motorola V710

JUST SO THAT EVERYONE IS AWARE, WHEN YOU GET THE SOFTWARE UPDATE. YOU CAN NO LONGER MOVE MP3 FILES TO YOUR PHONE TO USE AS RINGERS, BUT YOU CAN STILL CHOP THE SONG WITH A WAVE EDITOR, THEN SEND THEM TO YOUR PHONE AS A PIC MESSAGE, AND THEN SAVE THE SOUND. BASICALLY THE SAME THING AS BEFORE, BUT IT COSTS YOU 2 PIC MESSAGES.

Im trying to use my mp3s as ringers, i have already cut the mp3 down to 30 sec. and put it on my transflash card. I can play it with the mp3 player on the phone but i cant figure out how to copy the file onto the phones memory so i can set it on the ringer... anyone know what i need to do? thanks in advance

to be read through the USB. I'm guessing NO since it's USB, but just thought i'd check and see if there are specific drivers on the MPT cd.

Can someone please explain to me how to get ringtones from Walmart.com to my phone. I have two phones the V710 and V551 (I want the ringtones on the V551) that's my fully Bluetooth-enabled phone. I use that one the most.

I was just wondering if the update was done over the air. Do we have a choice? Can I just choose to live with the camera quality and the other things the update changes?

I'm sure many of you feel the same as I do, who cares about the camera quality...as long as I can continue to transfer the music from the tf card to the phone I dont care about the update. Thank in advance 😈

Is there any different version of Motorola MPT which is specific to V710? OR can I buy the general Motorola MPT ver 3.0 and it will work with V710 by default?

Sounds like the BMW owners are happier. Does anyone have a report on how the new 1.40 official flash or one of the hacked flashes solved the problems with the Lexus (and presumably other Toyotas). Specifically, will the phone ring now with an incoming call? Is it the phone or the car speaker system that rings? Any luck with the phonebook upload?

i moved some pics onto the transflash card from my computer, that i had originally taken with my digital camera, but i can't view them because the file is too large - any tips on how to fix this problem? thanks.

another quick question:

is there an FM radio headset that can be used on the 710? I know there's one for the Motorola 98310/SYN8609...would that one work on this phone?

does the 710 have a calendar and how good is it??

Please clarify, what CAN I do with a TransFlash card in a v710 now that it too has been crippled in the latest firmware?

It's seems pointless to read the manual from Motorola without a comprehensive list of features and functions removed or crippled by Verizon. So far, it's my understanding that:

Bluetooth - Limited profiles
TransFlash - No more moving pictures/audio to/from
POP/SMTP Email Client - Removed

Please help me complete the list.

My local store had trouble with the flash yesterday and said to call about it today. When I called, the tech said he had received an e-mail saying to not flash phones after he had done all of their stock.

There are a couple of posts about it on Howard Forums. One person was told that Motorola asked them to stop until they could resolve a problem.

I've searched the forum and cant find an answer. I have the transflash card and have been able to make ringtones, but I have been having trouble with getting the phone to play short clips. I have some 2-5 seconds MP3's that I want, but the phone doesnt play anything when I put it on the card. Please help. Thanks.

🤭 went into a store yesterday, in metro detroit, they told me all they have is 1.40 and dont even carry 1.38;

-any idea where i can get 1.38 and a cord to get it onto my new phone?

-can anyone also tell me HOW to get it on my phone?

p.s. ...damn verizon and their constant drive to make us pay for EVERYTHING (in reference to mp3 ringtones) and their choice NOT to completely allow Bluetooth transfers.

Do anybody know if I can get Motorola phone tools free?
Will the latest version of MPT work wil all motorola phones?? Or there is a MPT version for each model?
Is there anyway I can sync my contacts with desktop without using MPT? (like Nokia)

I went to the VZW store where I bought my 710. Tech said they are doing the flashes but was very up front and told me I would loose the TF ability to move audio, just like we know.

He made a bit of a face and said it was a decision by VZW to disable it and when I mentioned the GIN motivation I could see he was in agreement that it was a lousy move but he was being cool - all in all , a pretty knowledgable and ok guy.

I've read about getting the TF's ability back by altering the seem here, so I'm trying to decide whether to update or not.

I want my phone to ring when using my HS820 and, as an audio engineer and musician, I make my own ringtones so I want a 256 MB TF card to transfer my own stuff back and forth for ringtones.

I was pissed to see some water got in my phone...not the first time water has gotten the best of a motorola of mine. Anyway, it acted up at first, but then seemed to be fine. Occasionally, it still freezes more often than usual and does weird ****. Anyway, if it does go down the tubes, I have insurance where I can get a phone of equal or lesser value for a $50 deductable. If this happens, do you think I should stick with the V710 or get the LG video phone? Or another brand?

Features that are most important are: MP3 ringtones, camera, video camera, speakerphone.

Any suggestions?

Hi guys, this has been a very helpful site, even though i don't have my phone yet. I was wondering if there were any Alltel service users here and also if the bluetooth funcitionality was crippled in the same way that VZW had done to their phones? The wallstreet article claimed that Alltel allows the phone to function as motorola had intended it to.
Also, Alltel has recalled the v710 due to "networking" problems, can anyone confirm this, and explain exactly what that is? I have been waiting since december and was promised mid of january; however, the release date is now expected for sometime this month. Is there any news on this? I have my tf card and the hs810 headset already, and they are just a little lonely.
