#646 (#MIN)

I just found out from a friend that you can determine how many minutes you've used by dialing #646 (#MIN). VZW will send you a text message detailing your usage.

Similarly, you can determine your balance by dialing the equivalent of #BAL.

My question is: For us people that don't pay for text messaging, does it cost $$$ to read these messages??????

Thanks ๐Ÿ˜

Trouble finding pictures

Hi. I am having huge, INCREDIBLY annoying trouble locating many of the pictures saved on my memory card. I can view them in the phone, but when i put the card to the computer, very, VERY few of them show up. They are all saved to the card. And many of the pictures show up in different places. Some are in the main folder, some are in motorola>shared>pictures. Anyone else have this annoying problem or a way to fix it?

I REALLY dont want to have to email ALL the pictures (and videos) to my computer.

Thanks

Please help

I am trying to get my mp3 on my TF to transfer to the phone. It is 27 secs long, the name is only 3 characters, and it was resampled to 96 kb/s. When I go to the menu options after highlighting the file, there is no 'move' or 'copy' option. The volume level on the phone is on 1. I can't seem to find out how to move it....any help appreciated,
thanks

About To Buy...

I am about to upgrade phones and i am looking at the v710. I am looking to upgrade from my LG Vx6000 that i have had for about 2 years.

i just had some questions about the v710 that i cant seem to find answers on.

Can i use the speakerphone if i close the phone? the store display hangs up if i close it, but i havent really had time to really get into the options to see if i can have it stay on the call if i close the phone if its on speaker phone.

Is there a way to set MP3's as ringtones? if i use the TF card?

I also see a lot of complaints about the camera, are people comparing it to a real digital camera? because im only concerned about the camera if its worse than what i have now in my LG which is i believe 640x480. If its be...

New Reviews!

Isnt it amazing the reviews these days for the v710 are good now! Thats because it usually takes a few months to get the kinks out for a phone of this magnitude! Sure am glad I got this phone, works fantastic for me! Learn to use the phone people before you pop off!!!! The E815 will also go through many software updates and kinks to get out, so wait a while to get it, everyone is in such a big hurry to get the latest and greatest!

Question re: MP3 Ringtones

Guitar-man - please don't respond. I am looking for helpful information not a flame war.

So, I have the phone. I have the old version of the firmware... so the transflash method would work. I may need to upgrade to the new version of the firmware to make bluetooth work right with my car (one hand giveth and the other hand.....).

Somewhere (don't know if it was here or elsewhere), I saw someone claim that they could email themselves the MP3 file to the phone and install it that way - without the whole transflash purchase and dance.

Anyone know how to do this? I don't need to put in new ringtones twice a day - just a couple now and then....

Deleting a phone entry.

I can't find anything in the manual on how to delete a phonebook entry. Bringing up an entry does not give a "delete" option. Finally I discovered that if I just clear out the entire phone number it will then allow me to delete the entire entry. Is there a better way?? Thanks. ๐Ÿ˜

Also, my software version is 8700_01.30.OF
Should I be asking my local dealer to update this ??? Thanks again.

Transferring Files only using Transflash or Pix Messaging?

I am still waiting on my transflash card to be shipped and want to know besides pix messaging is there any other way to download rings from pc. i have Bitpim, Moto Phone Tools, and several usb drivers but did not know if there is a special way to configure program for it to work. I can wait for card, but just wanted to know if I had any other options.

Quick Tutorial on Making A Ringtone for the V710

It's really simple, and I'm getting 192k mp3 tunes to be ringtones, so I'm not sure why people are having so many problems, BUT...

This is what you need:
an mp3 of the song or sound effect you want to be the ringtone;
a basic audio editor (I'm using mp3 DirectCut -- freeware: http://www.rz.uni-frankfurt.de/~pesch)
TransFlash card
Some Creativity

---------------

What I've been doing is this:
I made a "Ringtones" folder in my mp-3 directory, which is otherwise dominated by iTunes; I then COPY an mp3 (eg Smoke On The Water by Deep Purple) into the Ringtones directory;
Fire up mp3 directcut and open said mp3, eg SOTW;
The track appears as a wave (ie peaks/valleys); I select the portion I want to retain/keep as my ringtone;
Selec...

E815 for USCC and/or Alltel ???

Someone posted here that USCC will never be getting the Moto E815 ( an upgrade from the V710 ) cuz USCC is incapable of handling EV-DO. Is this true? Also, would Alltel be able to use the E815?
I'm kinda holding off from buying the 710 cuz I don't like the smaller # 2, 5, and 8 buttons. The E815 fixes this.

Class Action

Via Gizmodo, the following:

Verizon V710 Class Action Suit Expands Nationwide

So you know when we all sit around and bitch that mobile phone carriers are screwing us out of services because they can, but they we sort of forget about it when we start rolling up new characters? Well now you can actually do a little something about it, presuming youโ€™re a Verizon customer who purchased the Motorola V710 with the crippled Bluetooth stack. Kirtland & Packard, the law firm who had filed the original class action in California against Verizon, has opened up the suit to customers across the country. Do what you want, but if you felt like you got ripped off when Verizon let Motorola hype one thing, then offered another, youโ€™ve got a chance to ge...

Dude,

Why are you spending so much time on a board for a phone you either don't have/ don't like? Look at the threads, most are yours and most of your posts are a waste of bandwidth, as you are coming across pretty childish with the numerous nonsense posts.

Don't you have anything better to do with your time? Please don't take this personally and don't get offended, but Dude, you are coming across as a knucklehead.

It's only a phone, go out, enjoy your life and your own phone.
