Motorola V710

I've heard that the initial problems with the V710 have, for the most part, been rectified and that this phone now has far fewer problems than it did initially. Can anyone confirm or deny that? I've been told that I should consider purchasing this phone.

I have the cable, the Motorola PST, the P2k seem, but the bits and bytes are killing me. There's got to be an easier way, somone please help!

Is it possible to flash my phone and remove the verizon software from it? I simply would like a clean phone without verizon's crippling software on it? 😡 😡 😡

So, I followed someone's suggestion and emailed myself an mp3 file to the phone. I did it once with an .mp3 extension, once with a .mid extension and once with a random extension I made up.

In each of the first two cases, the fine people at vzw (at least I'm pretty sure it is them and not the phone itself) decided to change it into a .qcp file - which it then won't let me assign as a ringtone. In the last case (the made up extension), the phone simply says it doesn't know what the file is and won't let me save it to the phone at all.

Any suggestions? Is this vzw's way of disabling sending yourself ringtones?

On my phone, I decided to try to make a banner. I went to settings-->personalize-->home screen-->banner and set one up.

Now, however, it only displays sporadically. Most of the time, it displays "Verizon Wireless" despite the fact that it should display my banner. Even when it desplays my banner, if I go to a menu and then press "end" to go back to the home screen, "Verizon Wireless" returns.

Does everyone else have this problem too, or is it just me. Is there any way to fix this problem?

I just purchased a V710 (newest software verizon 8700_01.04.OR)this weekend to use with my new 05 Acura TL handfree system. Everything is working great and was easy to set up. However the first call I make in the car from the handset itself doesn't link with the car. In fact the music will stop for a half a second, I see hands free link on the radio then the music is back. The call is then only connected on my handset. I have no issue with asking the car to transfer the call at that point into the hands free system. After the first time...every other call links with no issue. This issue occur with the first incoming call. Anyone know is this still a bug in the phone's software? I have a memory card and I've owned my 710 since 2 weeks before the release date(early Radioshack shipment) and I've never been able to get videos on my phone. I can get mp3's on it, and I noticed there are folders for other categories like, "wallpapers" but when I drag something into them, they don't show up anywhere on my phone. How do I go about getting potential video clips or wallpapers on my memory card to show up on my phone? Anyone know? Thanks in advance for any help.

Is The Motorola V710 Compatible with the New 2005 Acura RL?

I still have my old accessories from my T720. Do I need to buy a new charger for the V710? I heard a "rumor" (from a sales rep in the VZW store) that the old T720 chargers, while having the same connectors as the chargers for the V710, can fry the software. Is there any truth to this?

how is the overall quality of this phone besides the lack of its bluetooth capabilities is it a solid phone? how is the speakerphone? please let me know any help is appreciated thanks!!!!!

Hi long time reader first time writer. Just got a V710, and wondering how and what program to use to cut down my mp3 to use as ringtones. I use Itunes but i dont' think that works for this. Thanks in advance..... 🙄 🙂

Trying to find the drivers for those two to work together. Any ideas?

I went to the verizon store yesterday to find out what i could do to get my transflash transfer back. What they basically told me is that it isn't going to be fixed. The reason was is that Verizon screwed up the first time by allowing it and those who were able to do it weren't using get it now. And you know verizon doesn't want this to happen. so the fix i found, which only worked for me since i got the phone just 2 days ago, is that i exchanged it for a new v710 that had the older software on it, which a lot of the verizon stores still have since they are trying to push the models with the new software on them...hope this helps people in not getting the new flash, because it sucks....

I get to the last step in trying to remove the files from my phone when bitpim shows me this pop up:

"Other CDMA Phone on COM4: The phone is not responding while manipulating the filesystem."

What do i do from here?

i am a u.s.cellular customer.(not much choice in my area) anyway i think i am going to have to send my phone in for the new firmware flash. i am assuming the flash is good for the phone and not just the carrier?.?> i hope.anyway how can i get the mp3 player to play the whole playlist continously. right now it just plays one at a time, then i have to manualy have to play the next one. also really wish that the mp3 would play through the blue tooth ear bud. thanks for your help.

I am just looking for the easiest way to activate my v710 to transfer pics and mp3's. I would much rather use the bluetooth. Is there an easy way to do this? Thanks in advance bdog

I've been successful at setting up the Tungsten T and the V710 for a Dial Up connection. But I haven't been successful at SMS. When I attempt to do SMS from the Tungsten, a Bluetooth connection is established to the phone (I can hear the beep on the phone, indicating a connection is being made). However after sending the SMS message from the Tungsten, after a few seconds I get an error message: "Your phone was unable to handle your request, please make sure you are using the right phone driver.". I am using the TP280 driver, since there is no V710 driver yet.

Can anyone else tell me if you were successful at doing SMS and/or TapDial with your Tungsten?

I hear there is a 256 memory card out there somewhere! Does anyone know about this or where to get one? thanks!
