Sony Ericsson S710a

hey everyone.

can anyone give me their views on wether the S710a or the S700i is better? im wanting one of these two phones for the mp3 mainly but i do also want video recording and playback, camera, bluetooth, gameing, etc.

the only real thing that's setting them apart in my head is that i hear the S700i doesnt have a speakerphone and the S710a does. this would be handy as i would like to view videos and listen to music with a group of friends and we couldnt all wear the given headset. is the volume through the normal speaker of the S700i good enough to do this with reasonably volume or is it as quiet as the nokia 7600 where you have to put the phone to your head to hear it??

anything a new owner must know or do with the phone?

Im really thinking about getting this phone but I need your guys' honest opinions...

1) How is the camera quality on this thing?
2) Does the flash work well for indoor shots?
3) Is it slow like the T637 was?
4) Can calls be answered without opening the phone up?
5) Is it same OS as the other SEs? (ie. T637)

I got mine. I'm an RSC in the Louisiana market, but since I thought they were coming next week I had it shipped to my family's in New Jersey. It came FedEx.

Has anyone received their train and gain phones in the Chicago market yet??

The funny thing is that about 11 yrs ago my parents bought the EXACT same sofa (and matching loveseat) 🤣 & had them delivered from Sears. They got rid of the things about 3 yrs ago. I even had them for a while when I was in college. The hide-a-bead sucks too.

Anyone have any info on when we can get a firmware update?

😡 I went to plug in my SE HBH-660 (Bluetooth headset) to charge, and it wont charge! The day before I was using it, it worked fine, charged fine, then all of the sudden yesterday it flatlined. It has a little battery power left, enough to stay on without being used, but it wont charge! Im going to have to call Sony Ericsson on Monday, this really blows! 👿

And no, the headset has never been mis-used, mis-treated, and it's been dropped once a long time ago.

Not 1 phone has shipped. They assure me though I will have the phone by the 23rd which does me no good since I'm leaving this weekend to go out of town for a week.

I just received my 710 from the train and gain competition!! YEAH!!! 😁

If you have a theme saved on the computer, and save it to the memory card, how do you transfer it to the phone?

If anyone was told that the S710a was backordered and had to wait until March 11th or 23rd, should call up customer service and ask them if your order was canceled b/c it was on backorder. That was what happened to me. I waited and waited until I couldn't wait no more and decided to call and they said that since it was backordered my order was automatically cancelled. So I ordered another one and it's coming in on Monday, fedex 2 day. Just to let you guys know.

Also, did you guys read the CTIA article? Cingular is going to skip the initial UMTS deployment and go straight for the HSDPA deployment this year!! 😁 GO CINGULAR!!

My CAR-100 arrived this afternoon and works great with the S710a!

It took about 25 minutes to charge the first time, then I just followed the instructions provided and it worked like a charm. The car *will* work on your typicaly office carpet, but it seems to drain the car's battery rather quickly.

Naturally, everyone wanted to try it with their phones as well, so it has also already been paired with a 610 and a 637. And it sounds like at least one more person in the office is going to order one so we may end up having races. 😎
