Motorola E815 / E816 Hollywood

Ok - if I buy a USB cable for this phone, do I need special software to access the files/pictures on it?

Sure - I can buy a transflash card and reader, but it's more of a hassle than to hook the phone itself to a USB cable and run with it.

I have been posting mainly in the 8100 forum as that is the phone I just bought, or should I say 2nd phone received. I got the 815 tonight and so far so good. The 1st night I got the lg, I was done playing with it after about an hour. I have been playing with this one for about 3 hrs now. I have to say I was an avid lg fan (still am) but so far this one is pretty good. I won't go into why I switched since most everyone knows of the troubles, also I have had to explain it to just about every verizon worker and lg rep out there. It just plain wasn't ready to be released. Now since I have had the 815 for only one night, I can't give an impartial review. Can the message alert chime be changed? I downloaded a number of .mid music files and would like to replace the chime on the message alert with one. Can anyone tell me if/how this can be done. Thanks for your help!

Has anyone noticed when you record a conversation and play it back you can only hear the person you are talking to and not yourself.

OK, I realize I'm now with a different provider (vzw) and that I've got the E815 rather than my old Nokia. (Impressive unit, btw. Have had it two days now.)

Here's my question: Can I program this phone to automatically over-ride or bypass or enter the requested password when I press '1' to retrieve my messages as I could with the old Nokia?

Had a car kit for the old phone & it was very handy to just press '1' & have the password automatically entered or bypassed so that it started playing back my messages right away.

Will be getting the car kit for the E815 in the next week or two & want the same convenience whether I'm in the truck or not.

How can I save pictures downloaded from the internet? I'd like to set them as wallpaper. I'm not having any luck with this. The image downloads fine but there is no option to save.

Time for a new phone and this one is high on the list.

When I had a V60, it had a cool feature where you could assign a quick dial to start a txt message. In other words, I could hold down the '6' and it would start a txt message to the phone number in that slot.

I currently have a Samsung a670. It is a great phone, but creating txt msgs is a pain. Too many steps.

Is this possible on the e815?

Ok I just got my Motorola One Touch Stereo Headset today and have to say I am extremely disappointed with the audio quality of them with the E815. I am sorry but I thought it would sound at least someone good but I have to say I disappointed. Plus the media player one plays one song and then stops. Where as I have to open the phone back up and select a song....is there a way to make it continue to the next song without me having to hit a button? I just thought I would have a decent audio quality from the mp3 player from all the good reviews of the E815. Please, please someone out there tell me that they are satisfied with their audio quality.

From the reviews I have read the V710 gets excellent reception. The V710 is a trimode phone. The E815 is dual mode only. If you have previously used the V710, and are now using the E815, is there a difference in reception or call quality? Your input will be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Hey gang--

I just got the phone last week and am loving it. I just discovered that I can play MP3's with the flip closed. All you need to do is start the MP3 file or playlist. Then, hit the speakerhone button on the side of the handset until the display says "Speakerphone on". Finally, close the flip and enjoy!

I was looking throuhg another forum and it said that i could go into the activation menu by pressing menu 073387* and then go down to SPC overwrite and put it on forbid and it would give me free web access. Does anyone know the validity of this and also as to what SPC overwrite is for on the phone. Thanks

Anybody who has the phone.. can you answer these few questions for me please. Im prob gonna buy it for retail (300$) on Friday so I just wanna make sure it does a few things.. I am picky lol..

1, you can make the background, pictures you take with the phone right? And the outside display, can you make that have a picture bg too?

2, can you assign different tones to different callers?

3, Can it hold like 20 or 30 small mp3 ringtones?
