LG VX-8100

Verizon claims it can't, but I'm not sure I believe them. Especially because of the add for this data-cable from RPI wireless: http://www.rpiwireless.com/store/product.php? productid=17818&cat=337&page=1. Naturally, I tried contacting the RPI, but they aren't too fond off answering the phone.

If verizon is telling the truth (instead of just trying to milk $60/month for broadband out of me) then I will trade this phone in for a 6100, which I know will work. But I like the 8100 better in most other ways, so I'd really like to keep it. My computer doesn't have bluetooth, so I need to be able to make it work through a cable. Has anyone succeeded in doing this?

What can the 9800 do that the 8100 cannot or vice versa?? In exception to the keyboard. TIA

if i go to the network select a choose mode prefernce and select 1x only or digital only non hybrid, how well will the phone work???? i dont really need the evdo service, i just want to make sure the phone will still work as a phone, and still be able to send pix and txt w/o problems. thanks

what will i learn to hate on my 9800 and wish i would have gotten the 8100?

Okay, I've looked through these threads for a username and password for using the 8100 for a modem.

All I've found are:

1. username = [email protected]
Password = vzw
Tried that, it goes to verify the username and password then returns this:

Error 691: Access was denied because the username and/or password was invalid on the domain.

2. qnc for both username and password.

Tried that, same error.

Any other suggestions for a username and password?

If this is not the correct forum to discuss this, please let me know where I can get the information.

I am getting an error when trying to convert .mov files to .3gp using SUPER v1.811. This program works with other file extensions with no problems. There is no explanation for the error with the program.

Does anyone know if the 8100s' mp3 player has an option of playing the songs in random order?

I was wondering how you would received calls while on MP3 mode. Apparently the MP3 mode turns off when somebody calls. But people are complaining that their MP3 ringtones are coming out with static?

Whats up with that? Is this a glitch on every phone? I haven't bought the mini sd card yet to try the MP3 function... Nor added any new ringtones (MP3) via bitpim...

Question: Could you put in Midi files on the mini sd card and transfer them to your My Sounds folder----> then assigned them to ringtones???

I've been having trouble locating the software for the LG model phones for the data cable. I lost my disc with the software on it and I'm really freaking out ... I have new ringtones i want on my phone but my phone isnt recognized by bitpim cause i dont have the lg drivers ... if anyone has any idea where i would be able to locate these drivers on the web i would greatly appreciate it ... 😁 Now i know that a billion people have asked this question, but every answer seems like its written for someone who works in front of computers everyday and I don't understand a word of it...How exactly can we turn our mp3's into ringtones? I havent even upgraded my software yet to beable to use my mp3 player. But after that is where i need the help. If someone is really bored and has some free time on their hands, it would be such a help if i could learn how to do so..thanks a lot,

Saw the average user review is about a 3.4, but all of the recent reviews have been in the 4+ range, when I went to page 14 I saw the low reviews. So did the phone get a software update that greatly improved it?

Interested in it or the E815. Well documented that the E815 has lots of functionality that was disabled by Verizon, how about the 8100? Not overly interested in the whiz-bang features but would use it as a laptop modem on occasion, hence the interest in a EV-DO phone.

I just got the 8100 and I like it alot other than some minor things. I traded in an e815 for the 8100 and the menus are very different.

With e815 you were able to send ringtones to yourself and apply them as ringers but with the 8100 you aren't able to do that.

Has anyone figured this out besides using BitPim? It would be great since I have some nice ringtones I would love to transfer to this phone.

I've just recently purchased the vx8100, over the a950. A950 is not what I've imagined it to be after seeing it in the store. I've imagined it to be rock-solid-sturdy-silver-high-weighing, like all the other Samsungs.. but the size/weight/material is the same as this fone >.<

Let me say, the Verizon user interface is wack. I am not digging the red border 😡 It's like a waste of a fone... Can't see the true potential of the fone, what it was suppose to be like... blah. 😕

Camera: Does anybody else notice the gayness of this Cam? It looks alright when your about to take the pic then when you do take it, it takes it in couple seconds and degrades the picture??? Quality sucks so bad >.< Is this just my fone? Will the version 5 update fix ...

Anyway, I'm in the market for a good MP3 player. I'd like one with at least 10GB of memory, 20GB would be great.

Just curious, outside of the iPod, what else comes highly recommended? (Too bad the 8100 maxes out at a 1GB miniSD)
