LG VX-8100

I am loving it so far. I have purchased a card reader and USB cable on ebay so I'm waiting for those. Picked up a 512MB card today at Best Buy for $28 with a rebate. Not Bad! I'm hoping to figure out how to turn my MP3's into ringtones. I've read everything I could possibly find but it still sounds a little difficult. We'll see once I get all of the equipment!

So I STILL have the 8100 without the MP3 update. So when I bring my phone into Verizon to get the software update, what will it do to my phone?! 😲

I've read that a few of you have had their phone updated with v 5. Can you share with us what it does and what it fixes?

This phone only plays .3gp/.3g2 videos according to the manual, but I just tried to put some .mp4 files on my mini SD without changing the extension to .3gp and they work just fine. The image quality of .mp4 is even better than .3gp and there're more of them available on the net. I'm so glad that I did that and can't wait to share it with you guys. enjoy!

You, know, I just can't get over how much I sitll love this phone! I still can't get over all I can do with it, MP3's, a different ringtone for everyone in my contact list-FREE w/ Bitpim, best outside screen I have ever seen, etc. etc. etc. I have checked out almost all of the high-end phoned that Verizon has right now, and this is still by far, by favorite and even after almost 4 months, I still LOVE it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have a 512mb Mini SD card and when I put it in my phone only some of the songs show up. Is there anything I can do so that I can get all of the songs that are on my card to show up?

I know everyone on this forum and others are having problems with there phones and others things, but I just have to tell you all something. I have had Verizon/GTE for almost 15 years. I have friends that have the other providers and they still wish they had the coverage I have for Verizon. Remember this is a service to talk to other people not use camera's, video recorders, and mp3's. Verizon is the best at talking to people. Do not leave Verizon you will be sorry (and no I don't work for them). Jus t a FYI I was talking to a customer service guy and he told me Verizon is growing at 27,000 new people every month thats ALOT of people. if you ask me there doing great, as a matter of fact please leave so there will be better service for me. Yes, I was picking out the little rubber flap so I could charge my phone, and it ripped in half some how. I am the kind of person that just wants everything-working correctly on my phone and everything to be there and not missing considering I just bought this phone less than a week ago. So if anyone had a spare little rubber flap that I could have or have any information on where I could get one that would be GREATLY appreciated. Thank you guys

Still looking for compatible one. Moto 850, great for awhile, nothing but static on other end. Scala 500, won't stay connected. So, with May's advice, testing the H500. Saw the Jabra BT500. Very thin and shabby looking. Black with gray plastic top. Had problem with BT250, so don't even know if any better. The LG, not shipping yet. H700, seems to be only on eBAY. Will let you know about H500.

Anyone heard about the Motorola Razr V3c that is *supposed* to be coming to VZW?

I'm about ready to give up on this 8100 and the volume problem and MP3 Static problem when I have no service.

I am a long time LG customer. I have had the LG 510, 4400, 6000, 7000, 8000, and now the 8100. I have had the vx8100 since it was firsr released in July. I have replaced my handset 5 times, and I have had a fru replacement sent to me from the insurance company. My major issue is with the volume fluctuation. Other than that, this phone is perfect to me. However, after 3 months of waiting for a fix, I can no longer wait, without even knowing if it will ever be addressed. I have raised hell with Verizon and LG about it for quite some time, but I have not received any help, besides, swap it out again, or they will give me another model phone. I want to stay with the vx8100 because I love everything else about it, and I have invested mone...

i'm trying to decide between using a cable vs. bluetooth for my laptop and my VX8100. i'm going to use it for bitpim, but also for a modem when i don't have internet access.
is it smarter to get the cable if i'll be using it for the internet? will my connection be faster than if i use bluetooth? is it a huge difference? i hate wires!

I broke my card reader, and the mini sd adaptor! It got stuck in the card reader and when i pulle it out it broke connectors on both items!!!! 😈 THis sucks, before i go and buy more crap i was wondering if there is a way to get info to and from my card by using bitpim and just leaving the card in my phone? I have used bitpim for ringtones but never tried this. has anyone else tried it?

Does anyone know where i can get a good deal on a bluetooth adapter. Preferably the Motorola one. Or anyone that you guys recommend that will connect to BitPim and access DUN. Thanks

There is a video clip in the my flix folder that I can't erase.

I erased it in Bitpim and an error happened and the file was not erased, then afterward I tried to erase it in my phone and I get a "Remove error" and the thing is still there.

I try to play the file and it is just a blank screen, no sound. Just a blank white screen.

Now the file doesn't even show up in Bitpim but is still on my phone.

What led to this was my fiddling with putting mp3s in the my flix folder in the Brew directory using Bitpim (since I haven't bought a mini sd card yet), and something happened when I was adding and deleting mp3s, and this video file giving me the problem now isn't erasing properly.

What can I do?

Or is my phone cashed?

You guys all seem to know how to work this kind of stuff, so I figured I'd throw it out there to see if anyone could help me.

I'm trying to get my MP3 player to work on my phone, and it seems I've run into some sort of problem. I get the songs on the miniSD card just fine, and then I put the card in the phone. When I pull up the MP3 player the songs show up fine, but when I try to play them, the thing seems to freeze up. No music, nothing. The track names are there and everything, it just won't play, and the phone freezes up.

Eventually it resets itself, and then the phone is back to normal, but I have tried to use the MP3 player several times to no avail, and the same thing happens each time.

Does anyone know what I am doin...

The ring tones and address book work fine but everytime I try to upload a photo, my only choice is wallpaper and the image comes up black,I tried uploading it to my phone and it comes out black also I am using version 8.00 What am I doing wrong

I just got my LG VX8100 and I love it sooooooooo... much. I can watch my favorite MTVs, movies and cartoons anytime I want. very good image/sound quality and very smooth, It's super cool! Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha... It can't be any easier, a 512 miniSD card plus all the .3gp format files I downloaded from the internet, it's done. You don't even need to use the 3GP converter to convert .mpeg/.wmv/.rm/.wmv files. There are plenty of .3gp on the net. Just dig them out, download to your PC and copy them to the MY_FLIXS folder. You will love it as long as you don't play it in full screen.
