is it a decent mp3 player?
I notice the buttons on front. It seams that you can skip forward and backwards between songs. Can you search through songs? Can you create play lists? Can you sync it with Windows Media Player? Basically, how well does it work as an mp3 player.
Thanks for your help!

Stereo Headphones
I bought the vx8000 when it came out because I thought it was going to be like this phone, but it wasn't. Anyway it did come with some very nice stereo headphones that you can plug in and listen to mp3's and also use as a hands free device on the 8100. Maybe you can buy these as a seperate accessory or something, but they are very nice!

8100 totally wins over the a950, IMO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have had the 8100 since the first day I could get it in my area, but my curiousity of the a950 finally got the best of me yesterday and I went and bought it. I just had to at least try it out. Well, long story short, I am now using my 8100 again.
As far as BT and reception on the a950-I didn't notice any difference in reception, but then again I never had reception problems with my 8100. As far as BT-I like the fact that on the 950 you only had to say "call Amy home" and it would call vs. "Call Someone" "Amy" "Home" "YES", etc. on the 8100, BUT, when I pressed my headset to start this process with the 950 there was a huge delay before I was even able to make the command.
Battery-well, I didn't use it long enough to test this out, b...

Charging the phone
I recently bought a new lg vx8100, but i purchased it separately from my charger. I just received my charger today, but for some reason, i don't think my phone is charging. There aren't any lights coming up or anything, and the phone won't turn on. I don't know if this is of any significance, but i drained the battery all the way because i wasn't able to charge my phone. Is there a problem with my charger, or is it the battery or phone itself?
Thanks in advanced.

Voice Memos as Ringtones (YES YOU CAN)
Have been reading on a few threads here that Verizon has disabled the ability to use voice memos as ringtones, in other words, record someone's voice and use it as a ringer. This is not really true. While you can't do it easily right from the phone, if you have a mini sd card and a reader, it can be done. Just did it.
Record your memo, and then move it to the card under the Options menu. Once on the card, put the card in your reader and it will show up under My Sounds. Not using the data cable and BITPIM, add a ringer and choose the file from your card reader. It will show up as a QCP file (or at least it did on my system) and then download the ringer to your phone. I personally don't like having someone's voice as a ringer, but there are...

2.5mm jack adapter
Can anyone tell me where they purchased their 2.5mm > 3.5mm jack adapter? I have gone to Walmart, Circuit City, Best Buy, Target, and Radio Shack. The only one that had it was Radio Shack and I was told it would probably only come out one side of the speakers due to the placement of the rings on the jack. I purchased a FM Modulator (trasmitter) and am dying to use it but can't until I get the adapter. Any help is greatly appreciated!

LG 8100 - $199 2 year, $249 1 year,
This phone IS up on infocenter, and they list the price for the phone. The full retail price is $439.99, 1 year is $249 and a 2 year is $199. I think those nifty verizon people said this comes with a 50 dollar mail in rebate also, but the infocenter does not list mail in rebates. I still think it is so freakin stupid that you can't get the ring tones you want... ggrr...

Ok, so i have seen and played with the new nokia, i have messed around with the 9800, looked at the sam 970 and 950 and i have to admit that i am actually content with a headset for once in my life! i might actually keep my 8100 for more than 6 months and that would be the first time in 3 years!

LG stands for...
LG stands for LUCKY GOLDSTAR. The name used to be just Goldstar but they added Lucky and now I believe they are trying to change it to "Lifes Good" Shocked? You remember Goldstar. That brand in Ames, Kmart, Hills, Gold Circle, Wal Mart and the rest of the so called discount dept stores. The TVs that we all walked by laughing at that used to cost 13 cents...a nickel with the mail in rebate. The VCR's that were a quarter after the 9 cent rebate. Remember how we used to walk by all high and mighty laughing with our friends saying..."Who actually buys that crap?" as we went to the Sony and Hitachi shelf. Now look at us all sporting Goldstar phones on our hips and bragging about it. Oh how the times have changed. 😁
