LG V VX-9800

I have questions that the sales people just don't answer about the LG Vx9800 phone. If yu know one send a reply. Anything. It would be greatly appriciated. Whenever I talk to someone at Verizon they never know what I am talking about.

1.) They say there is a UBS port but whenever I look at it in the store looking at it or online I don't see the ubs port or atleast the one I am familair with. Is it the place above the mini SD card slot? Because that looks a lot like a head phone jack.

2.) If I have the cable (which is about $30.00?) can I transfer music to my phone from the computer like a regular MP3 player? My laptop doesnt seem to have a mini sd slot in it. And I would never pay to download music.

i have been trying to get a pix through bitpim and through just adding it to the mini disk but i cant seem to find the right size for the inside screen does anyone know the size and if so what did you use to get it on there thanks for any assistance its appreciated

Hey guys, I got my 9800 about 3 weeks ago. I'm ready to get a cable from eBay. I used to have a USB cable w/my 4400. Worked well w/BitPim. I'm not getting the bluetooth adapter since I want to use this cable w/multiple phones. Question is, do you guys recommend buying non-OEM cables from eBay? I can't remember whether or not my old one is OEM or not (probably isn't OEM though), but I haven't had any problems w/it or the phone. I'm just asking because some guy selling an OEM cable is saying that his cable version is newer, and the older ones had a problem w/the built in charger which overcharged and even ruined some phones.. I'm not ready to ruin my new $200 phone.. soo.. I just want to make sure. For the others that have bought USB data cabl...

Absolutely love this phone BUT...even with the Master Volume at its highest, the audio from my mp3s is almost impossible to hear without earphones. At its highest level, it sounds like two on a scale of ten of volume.

Is there a way to fix this? Or do I just have a faulty phone?

I have a prob with my camera its so slow i cant take any pics the object is either out of the way by the time it snaps or blurred because any movement even slight hand movement blures the photo is there anything i can do to fix this the camera so far has been useless to me.

Many people are saying that the speakerphone can only be used when the phone is flipped opened, now I hear that it can be used with the phone in the closed state. Which one is correct??

I can't stand hearing a phone beeping the tones in my ear when dialing. I have that shut off except for when it sends passwords automatically. How do I make it where I don't have to listen to the beeping when it sends pass codes?

im hearing a rumor that 2 gig mini sd cards are being sold in japan right now and their slated to come to the us soon does anyone now if this is true or how soon they will come to the us and if so will the 9800 read all 2 gigs

Dose any one know if there is a way to shorten the time it takes to turn the screen off after the back light off? I man once the back light switch off screen is still light up just not bright, was wonder if there a setting to turn it off or make shorter.

How do you use the voice to text option? I thought you could speak out a textr message. Please help. Thanks.

(1) In my old LG (VX6100) i could record music with the voice memo tool and set it as a ring tone...i have not found a way to do this with the 9800. Is there a way?

(2) In the 6100 i could take pictures and it would ask me if i wanted them to 'fit to screen' so it would fill the whole screen, i have not found a way to do this with the 9800. Is there a way?

(3) Extural Screen stays on while charging..anyway to turn it off?

(4) I have ordered a mini SD card but it has not come yet, when i load mp3's on it, can they be set as ringtones? or am i forced to be ripped off $2.99 for each one from verizon.

(5)I know this is a new phone, but the game selection is very small. only 3-4 in each catagory at most. Is there anyother other way to...

I tried to download my pictures from my computer. When I put the chip back in my phone and went to my pics, the pics are there, but question marks are there instead of the pics. What am I doing wrong?

Question for anyone out there.... when i am listening to my mp3 player and get a phone call the mp3 player shuts off and allows me to go to the phone call, but when I get off the call, I have to go back and restart my mp3 player.... another words it does not pick up where it left off... is there a software upgrade or a setting that must be set for this....? or will I cont' to be frusterated?

A test version of bitpim 0.8.01 is available with full vx9800 support, including phone detection , ringtones, wallpaper, calendar, phonebook, SMS download and call history. Thanks to all the testers for helping with getting it working.

This is a windows only version, mac and linux will be available in the next official bitpim release.
Phone detection on bluetooth will only work on XP SP2 if you are using the native windows drivers.

I got it to work with Bluetooth....
....basically if you have been able to connect BitPim with BT in the past using the file system, you should be able to connect it via the new BitPim...you can now get it here:

Once you load the software and have checked that your phone can connect via BT using the file system. (Note -- this has been discussed in length on how to do this -- search if you need help at this point)

From there all you need to do is make sure under settings that your phone 9800 is selected and then go to the DATA menu and choose GET PHONE DATA -- dont not choose detect phone, it wont work via BlueTooth. A pop up windo...

How do you guys know when you have a missed call or text message with this phone considering teh screen goes black after X (i think like five) minutes?

At first I thought the little light in the top left stayed lit up green/red but then I realized it doesnt. Can you turn this feature on or is there something I can do? Thanks in advance!
