Motorola Q

Does anyone know if there are 3rd party applications that can beef up the security on the phone. I know the phone has a time out lock down. But I believe there should be a sub-password protection on sensitive information such as e-mails, texts and contacts. IE. You let someone borrow your phone to make a call and if they tried to look at your info it would be password protected. Any suggestion / thoughts??

I constantly have the data exchange icon (signal bars with oposing arrows in top right corner) after I run a data program (IE, email). I have my email set on manual check. And after I kill all the programs with Task Manager it still shows the data exchange icon.

1. Any ideas why this is? Am I being charged for this?

2. IS there any way to close programs besides through task manager?

I'm trying to replace a BlackBerry and frankly the automatic email checking every 15 minutes won't cut it for me. Is there a way to get push email? Is there a third party that can provide it? Even simpler would be forwarding email to the Q's email address, does the Q on Verizon have it's own email address? I like the phone and I'm trying to eliminate a device but if I can't get push working I'll have to stick with two devices I guess. Thanks for any help or insight!

please let me know because i can not for the life of me set it up to send mail. i can receive mail, but whenever there is something in my outbox it hangs and then i get an error message that there was an error. i have my incoming and outgoing setup as mail.optonline.net
this is how it's supposed to be set up, but i can't send. i hope this isn't a problem with sending messages with optonline.

I'm trying to decide between the Q and 700p. I like the touchscreen feature of the Treo but since I don't have one yet, I'm not attached to it.

Looking for some people who have experience wiht both, and how they feel about it.

Has anyone found a case made specifically for the Q, so I wouldn't have to take the phone out of the case to use it (which is when most of the drops would probably occur)?

What the hell is it?

It goes on automaticaly on my phone...meaning I see it in the task manamger every few hours...

I don't think it's related to IE, or Activesync
because I use both and then check my task manager.
Maybe I'm wrong...

Have activesync already installed from other pda. Wants me to update to serv. pack 2 as well. Have had nightmares on other comps with serv pack 2 and dont want to upgrade. Any way arounds? thx

I had inquired with moto support about the ability to flag certain contacts as "do not sync with wireless device". Moto told me there was no way to do it, and that every one of your Outlook contacts would wind up on your Q.

I found a very simple solution.
If you create sub-folders under the Contacts folder in Outlook - only the records in the top level "contacts" seem to come over to the Q.

When I recieve a pix message how do I save it to my photos?

The only way to currently do voice dialing without using the speaker phone is to use a Bluetooth headset to make the call. At this time there is no additional information regarding a possible patch but please feel free to check for updates at Hellomoto.com

I currently have the Blackberry 7750 and use it to sync my POP3 account with optimum online, which is the only email account I use. The blackberry push is great, plus it has an automatic bcc function that has all emails that are sent from my blackberry go back to my POP3 mail server so they are back in my inbox. Does anyone know if there is a way to have emails that are sent on the Q automatically bcc back to your POP3 email server or, in the alternative, when you sync with the computer can you synchronize the "sent" folder in Outlook? I need sent emails to end up back in Outlook either in the Inbox or Sent box, I don't care which one as long as it is there.

when im using the msn messenger and try to sign on it says temporary conditions is not allowing to sign on and and disconnects while im chattin any help?

Is there a way to increase the sync intervals to less than 15 minutes? Also, can you sync it maually? I'm using a Pop3 account with the wireless sync.

Does anyone know where they list all of the Q shortcuts? I saw that if you hit home/spacebar it locks the keyboard which is much easier than what they list in the manual.
