The Q Cradle - Nice design

Interestingly well designed cradle. I dont know if one's included with the actual phone, but if not, its nice to know I can get one.

These days, most PDA devices and Blackberries only offer a USB cable and the device just sits flat on your desk. I HATE THAT! I like to see all my PDA functions staring at me in my face while charging after I easily slap it on the cradle. Thats what made PALM so successful 10 years ago. Why do others skimp on this these days.

Dead Q

Phone goes black screen and the only way to get it back is by pluging it into a charger, anyone else have this issue? How can this be fixed? Motorola does't know?

need help picking pda phone

my friend is interested in getting a verizon phone with the following requirements:
1) scheduler/organizer - like in a pda
2) mp3 player
3) car navigation. i know most verizon phones now support GETITNOW NAVGATOR. the problem is that i think it only works if i have verizon service since all map data is stored on the verizon servers. i want to buy navigation software that will work with my pda phone, use the phones gps capabilities, and either uploead all mapping of the US or regional mapping via bluetooth/cable.
4) expandable memory splot incase she needs to install more memory for new software

she was looking at the TREO 650/700, 6700, and Q. which one would be best for her needs?
what NAV software do you recommend and how much...

Keyguard / Keypad Lock ??

Does anyone know how to lock the keyboard? I have already hit the keys several times, even in the rather bulky Best Buys case.

SMS 2000 feature?

I'm thinking about going with the Motorola Q and saw reference in the forum to making sure to add "SMS 2000" as a no cost feature on your plan.

Can someone explain what this is? If I have this do I still need to add a text message option?

Q, hands-free, and GPS navigation

Anyone out there need GPS navigation too? I also want a bluetooth speakerphone car kit, such as the Motorola 1000. What do you think is the best way to go? A couple of options I'm considering...

My wife has a Razr and we've used VZ Navigation a couple of times. I don't know if this is available on the Q.
PROS: Works nearly as well as a factory unit, or at least good enough for us. Easy to use in any car, or walking.
CONS: It's either $2.99 for a day, or $9.99 per month. Plus, you have to pay airtime charges. This can suck up minutes faster than a Hoover.

Buy a smartphone, such as the Q or Treo 700P, and add 3rd party navigation, such as Garmin's upcoming Mobil 20.
PROS: Garmin unit also includes handsfree calling! Wireles...

Bluetooth Headset very SLOW and unreliable voice recognition

Does anyone else notice that using bluetooth handsfree is slow to initiate? Also any name I say the Q voice tells me a totally different name. IE: "Call Diana" "Did you say call Brian, Did you say call Ira, Did you say Call Matt"....
Very frustrating. Maybe cause I have 600 contacts on this and my E815 only had about 30.

I see their are some voice signal tweak settings I can adjust but dont know if to make it more sensitive or less sensitive.

Anyone know of any app that will play wav email attachments

Looking for something that will play WAV files attached to e-mail messages. Many mobile service providers allow you to configure voicemail service on your land line at the office or home to be forwarded to your regular e-mail account as WAV files. When this setup is in place and someone leaves a voicemail you will receive an e-mail with voicemail attached as an encoded WAV file - and you can use app to play it.

How do you access the web with the Q?

On the Treo I can type in the address of the site I want to go to. It appears the only thing I can do on the Q is go to the pre-selected MSN sites. What gives? IS there a way to do go to a website other than the MSN stuff?

Thanks in advance for all that can help!

best video bit rates + encoder

I am looking for the best encoding rates, file format, and encoder for the Q. I've been trying a bunch out and some are too low with crappy video, and others are too high and stutter when playing. The min specs would be with at least 320x240 29+fps and CD quality audio.

Thank you

Q needs a smart holster

When I would place my Blackberry in my holster it knew it was there and would go to silent mode (vibrate twice and then ring for phone calls and vibrate once for new e-mails). This silent notification was very helpful when talking with clients or when I would forget to put it in silent mode at church.

But this Q does not have this option...or does it? Anyone know if you can buy a smart holster for the Q? RIM must have a patent on this, never seen anyone but them use this cool feature.
