Motorola Q
where is the antenna/
Does anyone know where the antenna is on this phone? I can't think of a good place for it to be. My hand covers most of the phone when I use it so I am sure I am blocking it. The signal strength isn't as good as my razor and I thought I might be able to improve it if I moved my hand around.

WOW Great Review
Wow what a great review and I concur with 98% of what was said.
The only thing that seems to miss slightly is the following:
"Typing a name into the address field does not accomplish anything, it is not matched with the contact list."
I have 1400 contacts and when I type a name about 3-4 letters, type the message and hit send, it prompts me with a list of match selections. This is better than nothing, but far from blackberry messaging.

custom ringtones / ?'s about non data plan
sup guys, do u knoo if theres a way to put custom ringers when ppl call on the phone (aka my fav song/mp3)...i did it with my old lg 8100 and bitpim and a data cable....anything like that out for this phone?
also, i didnt get the data plan with the phone.....is there a way to use aim for free on here (I saw the agile link, but how does that work if i dont pay for the data plan)
same with email, i dont wanna do that much web browsing, but email would be nice....

Q available without data plan?
Does anyone know when or if the Q will be available without having to get one of those data plans? I'm, dying to get the Q, but if I am obligated to pay $80 a month for it then I'll just forget it.

pop3 help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I got my Q last week and I set up my pop account with gmail now when I receive an email I can view it but then when I try to come back to it later on its not there anymore is anyone having this same problem?
Any love for Mac users??
I have heard rumors that a mac user cannot use this phone? Is that true?? Is there anyway to sync it?

Making Use of Memory Card
Does anyone know how to transfer contact information to memory card so you are not tieing up internal memory?
I saw on-line somwhere that the phone books memory capicity is based on expanding memory slot, yet how in the heck do you utilize the expanded memory.
I already have over 680 contacts and a lot more to add. Please help if you know how to.

Any have the Motorola HT820 BT Stereo Headphones?
Just wondering if anyone has these and what are your thoughts on these? Just got my Q last night 😲 and I'm anxious to get these, but would like to hear some opinions on these first. Also prices people paid would help.

Thanks for the extensive review. I learned a couple things that even the Verizon rep didn't know about. 🙂 I have been using it since June 2nd.
A couple of things you may have missed...
The battery level indicator has a habit of getting stuck at full, then suddenly jumps down to half(this was corroborated with the Verizon store unit).
The mini-SD port cover is extremely difficult to open. Even with a tiny, sharp screwdriver(btw- it opens from the side adjacent to the IR port).
There is no quick, one-key-press way of putting the phone in silent/vibrate mode(such as holding down the # key in a Samsung).
Page 75 of the manual says that to disconnect a web session you should press the "End Session" key. 😕 Where is it? I have to continu...

Insert Pause in voicemail number
All my other phones I was able to do *86p# there it would automatically enter in to the voicemail without entering the pincode. Is there a way i can insert a pause?

Scroll & Back Buttons
Does anyone use the scroll and back button on the side of the phone. I've had the phone for a week now and realized that I haven't even used them. Seems like they could have either left if off or used the space for something else. For those of you who do use it, am I missing something?
Reading News on the Q
Hi guys,
Just got a new Q... Seems pretty good so far. Wanted to use it to read news on the train, specifically the Wall Street Journal (wsj.com). However, the website isn't formatted very well for the Pocket IE and I don't think that there is a condensed version of WSJ.com... What's the best way to look at this site, or is there some way to pull the news off the site and format it as text only?

AIM for the Q???
I just bought the q today and I went to this website on my phone,

downloaded the beta version and the phone cannot view the file.. Any suggestions? I too am an avid AIM user and MUST have it on my phone, if I cant get it I'm going to return the phone and go back to my V.. Any help please?!!???!!!??? I was told that website would be the fix but it didn't work. Please let me know. Thanks!

Phone Lock Password
Somebody correct me if I'm wrong on the following points:
1. You cannot enable the Q to "KEYBOARD LOCK" automatically after a certain amount of time.
2. If you want an automatic keyboard lock after a certain interval - you must use the "PHONE LOCK" feature, which requires a password
3. The password for the phone lock MUST be numeric? (I tried text but it wouldn't work)
4. Therefore, whenever you want to unlock your phone - you must hit the "ALT" key to do so before each digit of your password - thus DOUBLING the keystrokes to unlock your phone.
Is this really the way they built this?

Outlook overide Q?
How can I make the windows sync overide the Q. I spent two hours on Tech support. Synced the Q with outlook. Then synced the Q with myvzw after deleting 4500 contacts to make sure they would not duplicate. however the site on the calendar makes you choose to overide the calendar. Now I have old calendar data that I am scared to sync with my computer. Which means that I can get the information updated and emails! Phone is a waste at that point. Very frustrated. If I can set a setting to have the computer overide the phone, then it would work but cant find anything and VZW does not know how.

Need Some Help Getting this for $199
Here's my deal. I'm not eligible for an upgrade until March 2007. I do have a corporate account through work but its a large corporation and we don't get discounts on phones. I have called customer service numerous times with the same result... pay full retail.
I could be mistaken but I believe I read that people where getting for $199 by signing up for a data plan but customer service said no to that as well.
I want the phone but I'm not going to spend $419 to get it.
BTW (here comes the ranting).. It always surprises me that Verizon (or any phone company) is so unwilling to sell me a phone for $199 which would lead to retaining me for an additional two years as well as coming close to doubling my monthly access plan...
