Motorola Q

Has anyone experienced when the keypad is locked and some one calls you that the display will only be lit for a second or two? If you have any way to keep the display lit longer please reply to this message.

Question for all that own it. Does your phone make a loud beep through the speakers on the back every time you make a call? Very annoying! Wondering if there is a way to disable this.

Pretty good considering every other case I have looked at so far on ebay and other sources are lame lame lame.

Anyone know of a possible release date or know where to get one yet?

A few questions:

If you are getting your email on your Q are you also getting it on your desktop? (I hope)

If you delete it on the Q...Will it stay in your in box on your PC?

If you send on the Q will it sync with sent folder?

Any way to synch notes?

Do I disable VZN wireless sync (To use Exhange) since that is what I am using now?

My phone ringer volume is very low. I've gone into the Audio Enhancement but it is very general and even the highest volume (5) is not too loud. I know some of you are thinking that my solution does not lie within the Q, but with and ear doctor.

I want my phone to vibrate first and then ring. How do I set that up? And is there a way to increase the volume of the alarm?

I had about about 500 numbers stored on my e815 and need to get them onto my q. With the e815 i had backup assistant from get it now and I still have them stored online, but q doesn't support get it now?

I ordered a Motorola Q last Wednesday; it was promised for Friday. Showed up Monday. Opened the box and the unit was damaged (it had been dropped) but it dialed calls and surfed the net. I took it to a VZ store and exchanged it for an undamaged phone. Got it home and - discovered the new phone won't surf the net. Called data tech support; after 30 minutes on hold with the rep she finally tells me there is a KNOWN ISSUE with the Q and the Verizon system; that they have had a number of calls about this problem. She has to "escalate the ticket" and it will take 24 to 48 hours before I hear back from them. Great; another 1 or 2 days wait to see if the thing even works...

As this is not a touchscreen, I'm wondering if anyone has a feel for (or if) cut and paste works. I think this would be a major thing missing compared to the treo for those who edit documents, or copy small pieces of text around. Also, if one exists for the OS, how's the ssh client?

I was trying to view a youtube video from an email today... I clicked the link sent by a friend, and the web page appeared just fine, however the video was missing. In its place read something that said 'hello, you either have JavaScript turned off or an old verison of Macromedia's Flash Player.' Any thoughts? I tried to download the flash player but it was unsuccessful.

Anybody else having issues with their Voicemail Notification on the Home Screen?

Even after I check my voicemail and delete everything, the home screen still says I have voicemail...

Any Ideas?

Not if there will be a Q2 but when, hmm....

What would you change. I personally think that with some straight forward basic tweaks. The Q or Q2 if you will, could be one of the best devices on the market!

Blackberry Streamlining
- Double spaces equal period.
- Autotext
- Distribution groups or lists
- Text selection
- A little work on the keyboard layout
- Hard delete key

Anyway that my quick two cents, lets run with it.

Anybody see the front page of the Personal Journal section of the Wall Street Journal this morning?

Mossberg did a side by side of the Q vs the 700p. Didn't work out too well for Moto.

They basically said that the Q has a much better form factor but is annoying to use. They recommended staying with the 700p if you are a heavy business user, but getting the Q if size is most important to you.

Their main complaints about the Q:
- uncomfortable keyboard
- hard to open file attachments
- lower resolution screen
- terrible menu

Main pro for the Q: size and "cool" factor

I personally value the size factor as one of my major purchase decisions - so I'm willing to deal with the other annoyances and difficult to use menu's.

Does anyone share my problem....If you set your home screen to MSN Default and go to the Home screen; try to sign in with your msn account. When i try to input my email, i cant enter any numbers!! hitting the ALT key doesnt help. does anyone know of this problem? or is it just me?

Is it necessary to format a memory card in the Q. Also, what files, programs, etc., can be placed on the memory card? How do you move files to the memory card?

Ok here is my problem. I have the XV6700 now and the thing is just huge in my pocket and I love how thin the Q is but I have been messing around with one and can't seem to find a way to copy and paste in the calander. This is a huge feature for me for scheduling appointments that are really the same thing just at different times in each day. on my 6700 I just click and hold the appointment and paste it in a different time slot. I really want to get this Q but this inability to copy will get way too anoying any help with this would be great.
