Internet Explorer

Any know if I can download anything to the Q so that it can display a website that uses frames. I tried to go to my exhange server site but it only shows my log on then once I sign on it gives me the error saying my browser does not support frames. A full PDA does and palm treo do.

Home Screen Question

Just purchased the Q today. In fact, just ported my number from TMO to VZN today.

Is there a way to program which ICONS display at the top of the Home Screen?

I'm trying to create some shortcuts and cannot figure out how to do so.

Bluetooth question.

First off, love the Q.
My question is: I just got a bluetooth headset to use with the Q. Do I have to turn bluetooth on and off everytime for it to recognize the headset, then connect to the headset. If i leave bluetooth on, it really kills the battery. Is there a way that when I turn the headset on, the phone will recoginze it's on and connect to it. Also, is there a shortcut to turning bluetooth on and off (and for that matter connecting to the headset). The only way i know is by going to the bluetooth manager - settings - turn bluetooth on/off. Can you maybe set the profile to connect automatically? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Piolit

Dumping the 'Q'

I bought the 'Q' on Monday and I'm taking it back today. I also have a Blackberry and you can't beat that for email. But I also need a Windows device since I develop internet apps for handhelds. Hence the purchase.

Here's my brief summary of the good and the bad with the 'Q':

What's good:
Slim and light weight. I forgot I had it in my jean's pocket.

Looks cool. (Flavor of the month for techy types, but that will pass.)

Feels nice and solid to me.

Best phone camera I've ever tried (but still stinks, good for a Susquatch sighting but no match for a "real" camera).

Unlimited video shooting length (many only allow 15 - 30 second clips). Small video but OK quality with sound.

What's bad:
Screen is too small and some text is...

Killed Features?

I wonder how many features on the Q Verizon has ordered killed. I am sure OBEX is dead, as it is with most, if not all of their phones. Of course, I am sure Verizon is offering a way to get all these features thru their Get It Now program, at an extra cost of course.

over in the "Review: Motorola Q" discussion:

Verizon warns of a known issue with the Q accessing the net!

I ordered a Motorola Q last Wednesday; it was promised for Friday. Showed up Monday. Opened the box and the unit was damaged (it had been dropped) but it dialed calls and surfed the net. I took it to a VZ store and exchanged it for an undamaged phone. Got it home and - discovered the new phone won't surf the net. Called data tech support; after 30 minutes on hold with the rep she finally tells me there is a KNOWN ISSUE with the Q and the Verizon system; that they have had a number of calls about this problem. She has to "escalate the ticket" and it will take 24 to 48 hours before I hear back from them. Great; another 1 or 2 days wait to see if the thing even works...

I am a Cingular customer and got this phone because of the Q. So ...

How do you properly exit a program?

Does anyone else have a problem with the Q not exiting programs?

Ex: I open Windows Media Player to play music. When I am finished, I click the "home" key to return to the Q's main menu. The problem is the program itself never closes.

If you hit the back button it will take you right back into WMP. The only way to exit the program is to go into the task manager and kill the WMP process manually.

This happens with any program (e.g. solitare, opening contacts, text messages, internet, etc)

The reason I find this to be such an issue is because after opening several programs, the Q's performance tends to suffer. I am forced to kill processes manually or turn the phone off then on.

Am I doing something wrong or is this just a softw...

Exchange-Mail2Web and the Q

Is anyone else using meil2web as their personal exchange server?

I have found that they sync mail OK but I have not had great success with Calender and contacts.

If I'm out at the local sushi bar and make a change in my calender, the appointment change does not show up "wirelessly" through exchange
in my desktop outlook calender. I think it should. Any clues as to why this wouldn't happen. oh, and ALL the check boxes are marked in the Q, and in active sync. I am also using the 4.20 Beta of Active sync (it's very stable)

Finally, mail2web does NOT support an SSL connection so you MUST uncheck that in Active sync server set up, and when the Q asks for a PW, enter it into the Q and click on SAVE PW.
Otherwise it's going to kick you o...

Just got the Q. Have some questions...

If I can get some answers, that would be great.

1)Can you download additional themes.
2)Some websites don't come in good. Anyway to fix this? Is there a setting that I should put to get the best results for internet explorer?
3) I can't get on aol.com. It says it can't access pages with frames. Anyway around this?
4) Can you set a home page on internet explorer?
5) Where is the underscore button?
6) Can you really not send files over 300kb?
7) How do you copy and paste something from a text or email?

Thanks a lot any help would be appreciated

Text, missed call Reminder???

Is there a way to change the reminder alerts to a shorter time when I miss a call or there is a text message that I haven't opened. My old V710 would beep every minute or so if I had missed a call or there was a text message. I do get a reminder with my "Q" but it takes about 15 to 20 minutes before it "beeps" (which is the sound that I have it on to remind me) but my old V710 used to beep after about 1 to 2 minutes to remind me that I have a missed call or unread text. Is there a way to change that 15 minutes to 1 or 2 minutes???? I've done the following already:

Start
Settings
More
More
Unread Message Alert and turned it to "on"

any information would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
