Just Got My Q Sunday.....So Far so Good

I have monitored all of the issues brought up about the Q and finally decided to bite the bullet and purchase one as my NE2 date had arrived. I should preface by saying that I was looking for a good phone first with PDA functionality next, and internet access as a nicety. So I did not get the data package.

Anyway, I got my Q home and was able to pretty much set the thing up without even having to refer to the manual. The only time I referred to the manual was for synching my outlook information, and surprisingly, Active-sync (via cable) seemed to work just fine with no glitches. The phone seems to work fine and has not locked up at all. I don't know whether I was just lucky or if others have been unlucky but so far I am really please...

Selecting Multiple Items From a List

Is it possible to select multiple items from a list? (I know that on the blackberry you can use the scroll wheel while pressing the shift (or alt?) key to select all of the items that you're scrolling through.
This is helpful when trying to erase or move a bunch of emails, text messages, etc. at once.
Any advice?

Hard reset, Key tones

2 questions for you guys.

1) How do I do a hard reset (delete everything (data, programs, etc.) and restore to factory everything)? I have not tried it, but is this what the 'reset' program does? It seems like shutting down and restarting is similar to a soft reset on my old PPC

2) Key tones. My PPC used to make clicks when menus were selected. Not sure i'd want to turn it on anyways, but is this possible with the Q? I'm guessing WM5 Smartphone might not do this. When i go into sounds, the only key tones i can adjust are the numeric keys and the tones they make when dialing...

Thanks.

Videos on the Q

So Ive had my Q now for about three days and I have been able to figure out pretty much every feature on it but what one problem I am having is getting my video either video that I have recorded using the Q or video I have downloaded to play in full screen. I called Motorola and they told me that I need some sort of video editing software to change the frame size. If this is true does anyone have a suggestion as to an easy to use program that I can use or has anyone been able to find a setting in the phone other than the full screen button in media player to do this. I keep getting a little one square inch view of the video on it but cannot seem to use the entire screen to play the video. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

Interface for IM'ing / Text Messages

I use AIM for instant messaging. On my Treo (650) when an IM is forwarded to the device as a text message it is put into an interface that looks like an IM. This way I could reply and have a near-real-time discussion with someone without clicking around. On the Q each message that is forwarded by AIM arrives as a separate text message that I have to click to open and reply to.
Any way to get the Q to display my IM's (from AIM) in an IM-like interface like on the Treo?

Office Editing Software

Does anyone know of software that will allow editing of documents/spreadsheets on the Q? I have a 'power user' that can't loose that ability and so far is the only deal killer to move to Q.

Backlight

How does everybody turn on the backlight when it goes off while you are viewing the screen? I know you can "press any button", but that button generally does something, usually something you don't want to happen.

I use the navigation arrows, because all that may do is move the focus to another item. However that can still be a pain, if for instance you are trying to enter data into a field, pause for a few seconds, then wish to continue. I know it's not that big a deal, but I was just curious if there was a better way.

Possibly related, there is an alternate symbol on the messages key (bottom left), a circle with half black and half white? Does anybody know what that does? I can't seem to get it to do anything, no matter what abc, Alt,...

Anyone Want To Sell Thier Q??

Does anybody who doesn't like theirs want to sell it to me? I want one but I don't want to add a line and I don't want to pay 419.99. I'm still deciding if I want this but I'm pretty sure I will buy it if someone offers it cheap enough.

ACURA RL ??? HFL

Does anyone own a 2006 Acura RL using Bluetooth and the Q?

Are you able to see on the "in dash" display
BOTH Battery Strength and Signal Strength when you are connected?

I have ONLY Battery display. People with the Acura TL have reported seeing both batt and signal.

Motorola is CLUELESS about this so I am asking anyone out there that has a Q and would be willing to conduct this little test to see if there are defective Q's out there.
Thanks!!!

Active Sync Error Message 85010014

Has anybody had this? After getting bounced from Verizon to Moto, from India to Argentina, it turns out that apparently it is a Microsoft Outlook issue - one of the files is missing that Active Sync talks to. I spent 2 hours on the phone with Microsoft and was told that I need to deinstall/reinstall Outlook with my original disk.

Anybody else?

Can I circumvent this with a wireless sync?

Eager to hear.

Thanks!

just swapped my q in for a 700p awesome move!

I like many others was waiting for the q release for long time, but after trying 2 seperate q units i've been very dissapointed with reults.
here is a brief summary of the comparisons i've made.

1)speakerphone
found the speakerpone on both units to work very well, although 700 may be slightly louder
2)bluetooth
the connection process is smoother on the 700
3)operating system
even though windows will obviously slower i found the q to work painfully slow at times, freezing, long delays, multible buttons needed for simple tasks, with the 700 none of that exists
4)scroll button/back button
obviously only had this on q and will miss it
5)e-mail
on the 700 it is a breeze to synch, as opposed to the q much slower

will update more as i...
