Motorola Q

When I'm writing/sending an email on the Q I hit "send" but the email isn't actually sent until the next time that I initiate a "send/receive".
Is there any way to configure it so that the email gets sent automatically when I hit "send" on an outgoing email?

I'm looking for a way to charge an extra battery without needing to have the phone tethered to the wall.

Does anybody know if the desktop charger has an extra slot to charge a battery which is not currently in the phone?

If so - does the extra "battery only" slot fit both standard and extended batteries?

Is VZN GPS system (VZ Navigator) available for the Q? I noticed it is on the Razr V3M.

Long time lurker, first time poster here. Thanks so very much to the ten or so people (you know who you are) on this board that act as a wonderful resource for all the rest of us.

Now the time has come for me to solicit your help. I am feeling quite frustrated with the Q's ability or lack thereof to handle my pop3 email, specifically gmail. For some reason, the Q deletes all old email from the phone each time it connects (every 15 min) to check for new messages. Essentially, I am saying that if I have no new emails, it will erase the 5 emails that downloaded 15 minutes previously. I talked to a moto tech on another Q issue and subsequently asked him about the potential for wifi with the Q. He indicated that the phone was a smartphone not a PDA and as such wifi was not supported. So I pushed a little harder and mentioned the Synctec mini SD wifi card and he said it is not supported again. I asked if that meant it will not work or whether it is compatible and whether it works unkown. Surprisingly he responded that the features that would allow wifi to work have been locked out on the Q at the request of Verizon. So I guess that pretty well answers the question of whether the synctec wifi card or any wifi card for that matter will work. Twice today the phone froze up while talking for 15 minutes, and when I tried to end the call, the keypad was not doing anything... I couldn't end the call, no lights would come up and any button I pressed nothing would happen. To end the call I had to take out the battery. Has this happened to anyone. Is the phone defective?

Several hard to explain contact search problems.

A) When I click on contacts, then a letter to search, it brings up all the contacts with the letter if it is the first letter int he last or first name.

B) Also, when I click on contacts, then specifically the letter "W" it will bring up the prior contacts and the W contacts with the W contacts letter highlighted. But what is even stranger is the "," between first and last name is also highlighted.

Is thsi on all phones, a defect?

I returned my original Q for poor battery life- they couldn't give me a new battery, swapped entire unit. I was getting 4 hours with moderate use with BT. 9had same issue with replacement)

Now, my Q won't 'boot up' - I am traveling to SF, and need to hunt down a store to do a swap..

anyone have problems freezing up and not booting?

i've invested an equal amt in chargers, SD, etc. than i paid for the unit..

Got the phone battery is low so I am trying to charge USB does that do the trick? Does the razor charger work for the Q?

I was going to try out the Q for a couple weeks to see how I like it.

Unfortunately, it is the worse phone I ever bought. It is a wonderful toy, but in terms of an everyday tool, the reviewers were on the mark -- too many keystrokes and scrolling to do anything, too slow, too weird, and just way too much work for what you get.

Anyway, I really need my old my old phone back in service ASAP.

While evaluating the phone today, I stupidly copied a lot of stuff to the Q, configured e-mail, etc. I wanted to completely delete all this stuff before returning.

Please, please, what is the easiest way to do this?

Do you have to be on an exchange server for this to work? I use a personal dot com email address and all I want is instant or at least close to instant email. Is that possible with the Q or the 700w or 700p?

On my old phone I was able to modify the speed dial on the one key for voice mail to include a "p"after the number to pause then enter my password followed by the # key. This way all you need to do is speed dial voice mail and the password would enter automatically.

Has any one figured out how to modify the speed dial number to include tha password.

Does anyone know if there are 3rd party applications that can beef up the security on the phone. I know the phone has a time out lock down. But I believe there should be a sub-password protection on sensitive information such as e-mails, texts and contacts. IE. You let someone borrow your phone to make a call and if they tried to look at your info it would be password protected. Any suggestion / thoughts??

Our tech person doesnt know what to do. He said I may even have to get my hotmail account through our server? Very confused and I feel like this phone is doing nothing for me without being able to get work messages unless its hooked up to my computer.

Anyone have know any good sites to download games for the Q yet??

I dont get any alerts that I have new emails.

When you are requesting VR you depress the speakerphone button for 2 seconds to get the prompt for a command... however the prompt come over the speakerphone rather than the earpiece. Any way to force the command prompt to come over the ear piece rather than the speakerphone? Regards

I'm setting up my speed dial and it appears that only number keys are available for assignment. On my Treo I could assign any alphanumeric value which I found very convenient. Anyone know how this can be done with the Q?
