Lexus problem solved with Q?

Since the Q has Object Push, you can finally send contacts to the Lexus / Toyota / Denso car kits.

Anybody tried yet? Just select the contact and Menu > Send Bluetooth.

Remote Access - A MUST HAVE for every Q- user!!!!

Found this great app on Motos website called "Avvenu" and best of all its 100% FREE!!!

It allows you to remotely access your PC's files from the Q or any other computer browser. You can access multiple PCs from one account and it works flawlessly. I just set it up and tried it out. I am able to download files from my PC to my Q instantly over the EVDO network. Also you can share files to anyone by selecting the file you want to share from your PC and entering a email address to send a secure link of the file to anyone!

I am a veteran of logmein.com but found it does not work on the Q (works on regular Pocket PCs though). I have to pay Logmein to access and share files, but Avvenu is FREE and Q compatible.

REALLY COOL! Check it out

Can Hotsync and ActiveSync co-exist?

While I am trying out this Q, I would like to be able to continue using my Tungsten T3. Does anyone know if the two sync programs can co-exist on one laptop? I will be using both heavily with Outlook.
Thanks.

Palm OS apps vs WM 5.0 apps

I am trying my best to like this phone, but I have been using Palm OS since the Palm V came out. I now have a T3 and use the heck out if daily and have invested mucho dollars in apps for it. My goal is to use just one device though.

Has anyone been able to find apps for this thing other than the Downloads page from Handango that was preloaded?

I use alot of personal management type sw, i.e. health, legal, diet, passwords, etc. I also use the heck out of consulting tools, i.e time tracker, mileage track (an all-in-one would be nice, but Fresh Perspective went belly up on Seconds Count), etc

I also use Notepad an aweful lot and can't belive this doesn't sync out of the box.

Hope for WiFi?

The Q is missing a few features power users will look for. Wi-Fi could come through the miniSD card slot in the future, according to Motorola and Verizon. Push e-mail from Microsoft Exchange servers will come in an update later this year. You'll also be able to use the Q as a modem for your laptop later this year, at a $15-per-month premium to your service plan.

Text Selection

Does anyome know how to select text on the Q? For example browsing a web page and I would like to select a couple of lines of text and paste the in a contact, appointment or note. Seems the blackberry killer should do this very easy.

My Cons

I won't list all of the pro's because there are many - as previously posted in several reviews on this forum.

Cons-

- Having to go into task manager to 'kill' a program. Possible software update in the future?

- Not being able to select text, copy, and paste. (If I want to copy text of one e-mail into another e-mail; you can't do it). If anyone knows how to, please reply. Possible software update in the future?

- You can catagorize your contacts into personal and business, however, the default for contact lookup is 'all'. I would like the defualt to be personal so that I don't have to search through 1500 contacts everytime I am not making a business call. I called Motorola and they confirmed that this cannot be changed. P...

Bluetooth

I am having trouble getting the Q to recognize the bluetooth in my car. It will recognize a headset but not the car. I previously had a RAZR working in the car so I know the bluetooth works. Does anyone have any suggestions or info on getting the bluetooth working?

gmail on the q

Hey Im trying to set up GMail on the Q manually following the directions here:
http://direct.motorola.com/ENS/q-email-setup-persona ... »

when it goes to sign it just keeps prompting me for a password and i keep entering and then it takes me back to the password and then says there was a connection error. i have service in the area, whats the deal?

and this may be a dumb question but how do you close out a program, like say internet explorer or media player? i opened them to try out and now they are still running.

GSM Version??

I like Verizon Wireless broadband speeds, and wouldn't mind switching to VZW just for this phone, but I'm currently in contract and just don't trust Verizon (I'm a VZW authorized retailer sales agent and have Cingular). They cripple all Bluetooth devices for fear that customers might do what customers do on all other carriers and move files for free 😲 (OBEX transfer).

But I am wondering whether or not this phone will be available in a GSM version or if anything similar is due for release within the year as a GSM phone. Even Samsung is doing a good job at duplicating Motorola's slim phones (the T509 and a900), so if they released a slim PDA on a GSM carrier I would probably go for that as well. Does anyone know if it is in the works? Let...

Bluetood headset

I saw a video some time ago. Cant remember where it was. But it was an interview of a Motorola Rep (looked like it was at a trade show).
Among the Q and PEBL, he also discussed this really cool and tiny bluetooth headset which has no boom mic and works on vibrations received from contact to your ear.
Anyone remember what headset it was? or where is that video?
I'm basically looking for a very small headset that can do the job.

Any way to control brightness or contrast of screen??

I just got the "Q" yesterday to replace my V710 and so far am not very happy with it. This first question of mine will deal with the "simple" problems with this phone. How do you adjust the brightness and contrast of the screen?

intial review

I will wait to post an actual review until I've had a chance to better test the device, however the "Q" seems like a sure hit. While it does not do email quite like a blackberry, it comes pretty close and should work for all but the heaviest email users. Also, the phone has outstanding voice clarity. I am also vert impressed with the feature set that is included out of the box. I'm not sure about the battery life because I haven't gone through a full cycle with the phone yet, but with verizon offering the extended battery for so cheap, it shouldn't be anything to worry about quite yet.

Pros:
form factor
features
voice quality
data speed
email(for lite users)
ease of use

cons:
miniscule lag time
no true push email
