Motorola Q

🙂 I read the review from the guy who picked hs up in Woodbridge, NJ and figured I'd try my local store (Freehold,NJ), needless to say they had received 5, already sold 4, and I scored the last one.

The phone is awesome, I am a long time Blackberry user and I love the Q. It's lightweight, it's thin, and it may be a bit wide, but not as wide as the 8700c or any other full qwerty Blackberries. It fits nicely in my hand, and comfortably in my shirt or pants pocket. The keyboard feels a bit stiff and will take some getting used to, and the track wheel and back button make for nice one hand operation. The back button on the Q works a little differently than the Blackberries, it will take you to your last accessed program instead of taking...

42nd and 6th Ave got a shipment yesterday at 5pm.

I picked one up at 7pm, right before they closed. They had tons.

Some other stores in NYC say they won't have them until next week, so call ahead b/4 stopping by.

$199 with NE2, or with data bundle on 2yr contract.

Can't combine NE2 and data bundle discount - there's no way to get it for less than $199 unless you have corporate pricing.

My corp. guy said he'd get me one for $159, but not until next Thursday - so I decided to spring for the extra $40.

Here's the only downright obnoxious thing I've found about the Q so far. When I send a TXT, I immediately get a confirmation TXT back. What the hell is that. Can I make it go away???general impressions below

Good:
So far I'm pretty happy with my Q. The screen is nice. Voice Command works well. The BT is much better than my VX9800. Reception is good. Voice quality is great.

Jury's Out:
Haven't played with the camera much, and don't have EVDO, so I won't be using the web or email. Haven't used the scheduling functions yet.

Not So Good:
It is slow. There is a noticable delay sometimes. The contact list is glitchy...sometimes when searching a contact by tyoing letters the Q freezes or displays nothing. And it just ...

It was easy to set-up my AOL acct-- the incoming mail works fine. HOWEVER, I can not get to the folders with my 'sent mail' as well the 'Saved on AOL' folders.

any ideas?

also, how can i access my address book? i've imported (via Outlook) many e-mail addresses, they don't seem to be accessed when composing a message. (i assume this would apply to all types of e-mail)

ok respond if you have a Q and it works with a minisd wifi care or if you tied and it doesn, iwant actual customer porrf.. WIFI or no????? dont respond unles you hage tried, we heard so many things?? yes or no?????

I have an existing Alltel account / number I need to transfer to Verizon.. Does anyone know if it's possible to purchase the new Q online and also facilitate the transfer of my AllTel phone number?

I like my new Q but where is the LED that will flash when a new e-mail comes in?

I have been a Verizon Wireless user for over 10 years, I have had every new phone the day they came out (v60, T720, V710, Treo 650, Treo 700 W, and now the Q). Well these are the phones that actually matter.

I have been a Treo user for over 2 years because I loved the out of the box functionality of wireless sync believe it or not. I have never had an issue with wireless sync and syncing my contacts, calendar, email, and tasks with any version of Outlook and now Exchange 2003 with Outlook. I know a lot of people here think it sucks, but its real push and its free.

got it to synch my pop3 account and found a setting to have it check every 15 mins for messages-- is ther any way I can get it to check 2 difft accounts or switch between them? if go back into set up new account it errors me out

Does anyone know yet if the spectec or whatever company is offering this MINI SD WIFI card works with the Q...please let me know if this card will work..here is the link

I received the Q this morning and I must say, it was exactly what I thought it would be. Feels cheap in my hand, it’s very slow, and the internet is a kill without a touch screen. SMS is much slower when trying to send out a quick text or especially when you’re trying to do mass texting. Im going back to my Treo 700W. Hopefully one day Treo will bring out a nice design, I am so over Treo’s design. Good luck with your Q’s!

How about it guys? Anyone out there want to throw in their recommendation for what they believe are the top 3 blue tooth headsets for use with the Q?

I visited one Boston area VZW store very close to my office and called two others near my home and none of them have the Q yet. I guess this area is at the bottom of the food chain. ☹️

I can't believe how badly Verizon is handling the Q's sales launch... you've got folks on this board buying Q phones "early" from B&M Verizon stores while others (like myself) placed orders "ONLINE" to take advantage of the "early access" of May 31st...

I called 5 minutes ago to find out status because no charge had gone through on my credit card and here's what I learned:

Verizon is just now processing orders placed ONLINE for May 27th!!! They have four days of orders to process before they get to my order, placed on May 31st! This is complete horse XXXX.

They had me right down a number to call if I want to cancel my online order... what a load of crxxx.

Anyone else have insight into this?

Hey folks, I have never been the one to really want a phone as bad as I've wanted this one. I wasn't eligible for an upgrade so I payed the full price of $419.99 for the phone. I read on here about B2B and remembered that I have a discount with Verizon. I called up and said hey I just bought the Q at full price, and I told him how I read on here that several folks were buying them at $199.99 with a data plan and a new 2 year contract. I thought a new two year meant a whole new customer. It doesn't! After talking to B2B I recieved a $250.00 credit for the phone!

I'm currently in the middle of a 2yr contract (ending in July-07). I called VZW customer service today & talked to them about the Q. After talking with the customer service rep and going over a few scenarios, it seemed like there was NO way I was going to get the Q unless I paid the full retail of $419.99. Through my employer I'm on a corporate discount program, so I thought I'd give VZW's b2b division (Business to Business) a call to see what they can do for me before I spend that much on the phone. At first he told me I'd have to pay retail price, then he told me to hold to see what they can do for me....... To make a long story short, after only being in my current contract for only 11 months, I was able to get the Q for ONLY $199 wi...

Do the bars indicating signal strength really mean anything? At my house, the Q only has 2 bars of signal (out of 4). My old E815 has full strenght (5 out of 5) and I was testing a Blackberry 7130e which has 4 out of 4 bars.

What does it all mean?
