Trying to choose new carrier...

Hi and thanks in advance to anybody who posts a helpful reply.

I'm trying to choose a new carrier. I'm currently using Cingular in the Chicago area with the Sony-Ericsson S710a phone. I like the phone but the voice quality stinks. A few other people I know with Cingular in this area also have not the greatest voice quality, and they have different phones.

I've used Verizon in the past (maybe five years ago?) and Nextel (up until last year) and T-Mobile (three years ago maybe).

I really did not like Verizon. For one thing, they sent an incorrect non-payment report to a credit bureau on me because THEY forgot to mark my account as closed and it took 4 years to clear it up. For another, I just didn't think the voice quality was all tha...

Sending a text

This question is definitely a complicated one. My Best friend is in the US army and is stationed in UK. He has a o2 UK mobile phone. He ended up coming back on leave and is back in the US for a few weeks. I cant send any text messages to him, i can only receive them from him. While he is here he is roaming on the Cingular Network. I have put in the 011 plus the 44 for the country code with his number and it says that the message is sent but he never receives it. Can anyone help or give me any info to why it does not work. I looked on Sprint's website and it tells me that they have a text messaging agreement internationally so it should work. Any info or help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks. 😁

A New Carrier Question

Hey I have an idea just tell me what you all think. If I am currently with Sprint hence the post on the Sprint website. But like many I get hit with a pretty good size of overages every month. Now, tell me what you all think about this.

If I had a carrier that offered many plans, for the sake of this example 4. Now my plan would include something like:

monthly anytime Night/wk Mobile to
cost Minutes Minutes Moobile
39.99 400 Unlim Unlim
59.99 800 Unlim Unlim
79.99 1200 Unlim Unlim
99.99 1900 Unlim Unlim

Now here is the catch unlike other carriers that charge you overages, this plan "flex" to the closest plan. So everyone starts at the 39.99 unless their wishes to start higher. As they use their mins, when they went over they wo...

Using a non sprint phone

Can I activate a Non sprint phone onto my account....Like some other CDMA phone that was never offered by sprint. I know that your can do that on GSM phone because I had T-Mobile and I would just buy any phone that was never offered by tmobile and just pop my sim card into it and it worked just fine....but the problem with Sprint (and aslo Verizon) there are no sim cards to be found in there phones...So how would I be able to do this? Texting while roaming

I know a few phones can text while roaming, the A900 for example can send and receive text messages while not on the Sprint network. Does anyone know what other phones can text while roaming?

Problems with Java Apps anyone else?

All,

Lately my Opera mini, Google maps, weather, and on demand do not work. Is this a network thing? Anyone else having the same problems? I can use the standard Sprint browser to get online but none of my Java apps seem to be able to connect.

Pricing Concerns - Discontinued LG 535

Hello.

In November I bought a LG535 from my Sprint corporate store. I paid approximate $230 (not including taxes) for the phone after the discount.

I now see that the phone has been discontinued by Sprint. When did this happen?

I also was curious as to what phones Sprint had available currently online, and was dismayed to see that I paid nearly as much for my LG535 as I would for a brand Blackberry (about $60 difference). The most expensive, non blackberry phone they had listed was only $180.

Also, Qwest Wireless, which still sells the phone has it listed at $290 manufacturer price, and $130 if you have a contract. That's nearly $100 cheaper then what I paid! The manufacturer price Sprint listed at the store was around $380....

Well... I'm out!

Like many who have come before me, I have learned what I've needed. Now I'm officially leaving the cellular industry for good. Thanks for the drama and the laughs. I would'nt have made it this long without PhoneScoop. I got an offer for a new job I cannot refuse. I put my notice in on Monday when my boss comes back from vacation. It's been fun and I will pray for every store rep, csr, and technition's sanity. Thanks guys. EV-Do network on rural interstates

Does any Sprint employee or engineer know when the Sprint EV-DO network will be completed nationwide on the rural interstate areas. They said last year the entire network would be EV-Do by the end of 06. Is this still true?
