Sprint is now compromising your security!

Just saw this pop up on digg

thought I would let you guys know about it

http://cryocone.livejournal.com/1131.html »

Here is the article:

"Identity leak with Sprint wireless
By dialling a certain phone number from any phone, and punching in the phone number of any sprint subscriber, the service will read the name and street address of the subscriber. It also can read back the names of people who might share the same address.

Does anyone else see this as a problem?

The automated service leaking this data is Sprint's international call identity verification service. I think the theory is that they want to provide extra safeguards so that people can't rack up massive fraudulent bills for international calls, so they want to real...

My Katrina Experience(which phones worked and didnt)

Very very disapointed with cingular wireless's performance during this hurricane. The power went out for the whole town meaning cell towers were down. I woke up to go in the attic to avoid the water then i thought to get my phones. In my pocket i had a cingular, sprint, and verizon phone. We were tryin to dial 911 as we were stuck in the attic with 8 ft of water. My cingular phone would not work, no service for almost three weeks. You'd think with an allover network it would be durable. It wasn't, so ipowered it off. Next is my sprint phone. I powered it on and it looked for service for about 3 mins then picked up a digital roam signal, with a sigh of relief i dialed 911. The call connected but then i heard a "Welcome to verizon wireless, al...

Personal Information Security Risk!

It has been discovered that Sprint has a serious security risk for its users.

By dialing a toll free Sprint number, a person can enter the number of any Sprint phone and obtain the name, address, and even information regarding other people who may have lived at that address.

Please contact Sprint and request them close this security hole with Sprint's international call identity verification service.

Roaming choices on sprint's network...

so i go into the sprint store the other day because my GF wanted to upgrade her phone, and i happened to tell a sprint rep how much i love sprints service and how i get such great service no matter where i go here in southeast Michigan. She said let me see your phone, and then said that now that she changed my roaming option to "sprint only" that i will get EVEN BETTER service. Is this true? She also said that the sprint rep that sold me the phone (got it a little over a month ago) should have set it from AUTOMATIC to SPRINT ONLY...

it this true? which is better? wouldn't automatic be better, because what if maybe i go somewhere where sprint doesn't cover (even thought i have never been in that scenario yet) would that mean it wouldn't p...

Benefits of 'being optimized'?

Just curious, have two MM-8300's on my business/family account and both an an OTA update done on them by using 'update phone' option in the settings menu. It said something about optimizing the phone from ver 1.005SP to 1.007SP, anyone know the benefits of doing this? Is it OS only or does that include PERL updates? I got nothing...

Dual-mode phone and coverage issue

There was a news article concerning a Motorola dual mode phone that seems to be coming to Sprint: http://gizmodo.com/gadgets/cellphon...oval-18 4778.php

Rumor is that the voice portion of the phone will only operate on CDMA and use iDEN for Direct Connect only. If this is indeed the case, when this phone is released, and again, in previous posts, it was slated for around October, will the voice coverage for CDMA exist in Nextel only areas?

Hopefully Sprint done some homework and added CDMA panels in areas where there is Nextel service only, so that it makes it easier for Nextel customers when it's time to upgrade and offer this phone. If not, then at least in my area, you would be roaming on Alltel most of the time.

Rasin Bran can save you $75

I guess Kellogs and Sprint got together and made an addition $75 mail-in-rebate off phones (with and MSRP of 299.99 or higher) for new and exsisting customers... so if you're ready to sign up with sprint, go get some frosted flakes...hope this helps someone

"New for You" Upgrade program changing in September!

For the better!!!! In September, Sprint is getting rid of the crappy rule of your upgrade elegibility being based upon your last ESN swap rather than th e last time you got an upgrade. That is all I know so far, hopefully they will make it as good as Verizon's "New Every Two" Upgrade Program.

Dealing With The Wireless Industry. Pt. II: The Sequel

๐Ÿ™‚ Happy 4th of July Everyone! My last post gave me some pretty good info so why not go deeper? Now once again I'm just looking for relevant info that could help.

My topic of today is Customer Service โ˜น๏ธ which is one of the number one problems people have to discuss on here or any forum for cell phones. Now I've heard the horror stories and bad store experiences people have had but do you guys think it the companies policies that cause sooo many complains and problems or is it really just the wrong people at the wrong time? ๐Ÿคจ

P.S. I know customer service is a sore spot for a few reps on here so lets not get to upset. We've all had a few bad customers.

Problem with texts

I just joined Sprint yesterday. I went with the LG LX350. Up until alittle while ago I wasn't able to text anyone. I called sprint and after 45 frustrating minutes I'm finally able to text (the guy had me change the MDIS or something like that) but now I can't recieve texts! I Really do not want to call back tonight. *sigh* does anyone have an opinion on what could be wrong? I'll still call sprint in the morning, I just can't take another round with them tonight. Not giving me a great first impression I'll tell you that!

I thought that I had seen it all...

I left Sprint over two years ago because of their poor billing and horrible customer service. I told my father not to change to Sprint but he wouldn't listen. On this past month's bill, they had overcharged him $100. When he called they said "Yes sir. You're right. We overcharged you. We'll be happy to credit you the $100." He's thinking "great. they fixed their mistake. The CSR goes on to say "however in order to credit you the money that we overcharged you we will have to extend your contract by six months"

I don't even have the words.

Sprint...argh....whatever!

So is the Samsung A900M/P release really Q2 2006?

Other sources have an awful lot of conflicting information in regards to the specs of the phone and its release date.

So long, Sprint...

No, this isn't a post waxing poetic about the evils of the Sprint Empire. This is a post just saying that about a month ago, I was forced to leave my job as a Sprint Rep. Since then, I've moved across the country, and next week I am starting at a T-Mobile call center. I'll probably still be keeping my Sprint phone as a back up, but I'll be spending most of my time over on the T-Mo boards. Good luck, everyone! It's been fun, and I'll check in on the boards here every once in a while. Later. ๐Ÿ™‚

Possible VI-2300 flip answer problem..help!!

It seems when I use the flip to open option to answer calls I get a bit of lag time..meaning I have to either wait then say hello..or say hello twice before the caller hears me. This doesn't seem to happen though if I use the talk button to answer the phone. Does anyone else have this issue or should I send it back to Sanyo?
