Smart Phone Question

If the economy has such an impact on people. Why does it seem like every phone Verizon wants to put out these days is a Smart phone. These phones require people to spend more money that they dont have on this 30 dollar data package. You would think when money is tight there would be more affordable and mid range phones to choose from. There are several phones that Motorola are putting out this year that I was interested in. For example tha Calgary but sure enough it is another Smart phone. I cant afford the package nor have no need for a Smart phone. I like more higher end dumb phones. Right now I have the Voyager and looking for something along those lines. I have the connect plan and phones like this work best for this plan

Friends and family issue?

I am noticing as I check my minutes from day to day my actual total of minute used is going down? I checked on Monday and it was at 888 minutes (mind you I set up friends and family on Sunday and it was active on Monday) and yesterday it was at 875 and today it is at 858. This is really weird but maybe it is a delayed processing of minutes due to the friends and family. Has anyone else noticed anything like this?

phone warranty question

I was wondering if I buy a phone off of craigslist, it is supposed to be new, is there still a 1 year warranty with the phone? Will a verizon store still fix the phone? Or are you basically hosed if something happens to the phone.

Apple Lockdown?

People always complained about VZW being some nazi company that locked its phones down. Not all of them, but a lot of the same people who make these claims are the ones drinking all that Apple koolaid.

Here ya go: http://scitech.blogs.cnn.com/2009/02/18/could -jailbreaking-your-iphone-land-you-in-jail/

Yup, Apple wants to stop you from jailbreaking your phone.

Could jailbreaking your iPhone land you in jail?
Posted: 09:56 AM ET
Well probably not jail – but if Apple has its way, in some sort of legal trouble. I saw this over at Wired’s Threat Level blog. Apparently Apple is asserting that hacking the phone to run non-approved applications violates the Digital Millennium Copyright Act.

Jailbreaking is a proce...

Samsung Saga & Other Smartphones

Is anyone currently using the Samsung Saga? Since it's not available in stores yet, I'm reluctant to order it without first being able to see it first. I currently have a BB8830, but will have to get rid of it soon since my company retired its BB Server, and will need a Windows Mobile device. Now, with the Q discontinued, it seems like the only options are the HTC Touch Pro, Samsung Omnia and Saga. I heard bad things about the HTC Touch Pro, and I need a full keyboard so the Omnia is out. Any opinions on the Saga, or any insight into when/if a Q replacement be coming down the pike will be hugely appreciated!

Swapping Storm For Curve

The BlackBerry Storm is by far the worst phone Ive ever owned. I got the Storm on release day and am currently on my 4th replacement phone. Each phone I have had has been plagued with horrible software issues and terrible build quality. My most recent Storm was replaced because of dust under the screen.
Ive contacted Verizon and complained about how the Storm is unusable, citing its frequent lock ups and need for several battery pulls per day. The customer service rep agreed with me and wrote a note on my account so that I could go to the store and exchange my Storm for different phone model. The service rep said my best option would be to switch to the Curve. When I asked about the Omnia he said "i do not recommend it" which I found shock...

No data plan smartphone

I'm a little confused with Verizon's smartphone options. I would love to have PDA funtions on my phone (sync with Outlook, by wire or bluetooth) but the way I understand it one has to have a data plan ($30/ m) to purchase a smartphone. Does Verizon offer a smartphone or near smartphone cell phone that offers good PDA functions ?

Please help, confused about voice/data plans.

I currently have the LG vx8700 and have the America's Choice Plan, 450 minutes for $39.99. I also pay $5.00 for 250 message allowance and $5.00 for Mobile Web.

I am considering to purchase the Samsung Omnia, but if I do, would I have to change my plan? If so, do I need a voice AND data plan? Ive gone to the website to review my options, but I find it confusing.

What is the cheapest option for having voice and data packages for the Omnia phone. Any help/advice is greatly appreciated.

Thanks....GP 😕

Just want to make sure it's really FREE

Last week I signed up to a "Premium" plan. I was told that I now have unlimited texting, free unlimited use of VZ Navigator, free unlimited web browsing and free mobil email. On my new phone's menu (LG Dare) there is a choice for V-Cast Videos. I was told that I can watch those videos for free as long as there is no price listed next to them. Several of them show ($0.00) next to them. I was told that they are free and that I will be prompted if I'm about to download or watch something that I will be charged for. Is that right? I'm loving all the new stuff, but I don't want any nasty surprises on my bill. Thanks.

Say Goodbye too theses phones and hello too...

Well, we know the Pearl Flip will take over the Peal.

And the Samsung SCH-i760 was once gone, but now is back, but will soon be gone again..

What will take its place?

Also the Verizon Wireless VX9600, the HTC Touch Diamond will take its spot.

And the Verizon Wireless SMT5900, what will takes its spot?

Also, say goodbye to the Samsung Juke when its sold out, i dont expect it to come back.

Data Plans

I read somewhere that some of the Verizon smartphones will require data plans, like the Blackberries - is this true? If so, how much will they cost? I've never had a smartphone but am considering the Blackberry Curve. I would like to be able to read email and surf the web, but the $30/month requirement seems a little high - my husband currently has the Voyager and has a $15/month data plan. But if the newer smartphones will require expensive data plans like Blackberries, I guess it won't matter...

Samsung Phones

I am currently an Alltel customer that will soon be a Verizon customer. My contract expires the beginning of March and I am looking to upgrade to a smartphone. I currently have a Samsung SCH520 and really like the Samsung phone. With that in mind, I would like to upgrade to a Samsung smartphone. Does anyone have any idea what a good Samsung smartphone would be? Also, would it be smart to go ahead and upgrade the beginning of March or should I wait until the transition is completed?

Sending picture message to an email address

I just got my new LG Dare with a "Premium" plan last week. Now I can do all kinds of really cool stuff that I was never able to do before (without extra charges). I love the fact that I can snap a picture and send it as a pic message to an email address! The only problem is, it shows up in the recipiant's inbox as being sent by [email protected]. Unless someone reads it carefully and recognizes my number, It looks alot like junk mail. Especially since it has an attachment.
Is there any way to change that to show it as [email protected]? Thanks!

New Plans 2maro

I was talking to a rep tonight and telling her that I have 11 phones on the verizon network. I have 4 on my family share plan and 7 on my small business plan. I explained that the rates are just killing me and to be honest the service isnt that much better to justify the cost. I wanted to know my contract end dates to start cancelling lines. She said to hang in there because we will be offering some great new plans. Can anyone confirm this?
