New Verizon Motorola LIneup for 2009.

Looks like BGR got a scoop on a few of the new motorola handsets headed to verizon wireless in 2009. I like the calgary, but if these bad boys are still running that ridiculous verizon UI, im gonna have to pass.

Heres the link, enjoy!

LG 8950 vs. LG 5500, other simpler phones?

OK, I've decided I want to use my NE2 credit to get a phone I won't have to pay additionally for. Have an iPod; not concerned w. music (though I liked the Chocolate 3 in the store and I think I can get it really cheap).

Anyway, the LG 5500 seemed like a solid little phone. I was a tad concerned with the fact it doesn't accept a memory card, but I never used that feature with my recently deceased LG 8300 in nearly three years of use. The 5500 seems to get good reviews.

But now I see the 8950. Unfortunately, all I can find is one biased review: "WORST PHONE EVER MADE!" I'm sure this is either hyperbole or the user got a reject. I do see the 8950 has a slightly better camera and supports a memory card.

Any advice here (and that include...

Someone help??

Okay, I'm just curious, how Verizon's "month to month" plans work? Its not like Verizon's Inpulse plans are they? I cant stand, getting the prepaid cards, I find it annoying, so can someone tell me how they work, is it kinda like AT&T's Pick your Plan deal, where they take it out of your bank account each month? Let me know, I'm thinking about going to Verizon, but I need to know, I want the Month to Month plan, and can I have unlimited messaging feature?

techies help

every once in a while i get a call about people showing their caller id displaying a certain name on it. for example, they call a landline with their mob phone and it shows their personal name and they want to change that bec they don't want the other receiver knowing their name but i call tech and they always tell me we can't do anything. so question is: do we have anything to do with what displays in landlines' caller ids? does anyone know why that would even show their name anyway if we don't even broadcast anything but the mtn in the caller id? please advise.

Blackberry Reps calling stores...

Hi Everyone,
I just had a rep from Blackberry (RIM) call asking all kinds of questions about the Storm, how well is it selling, what are the issues, how many have you had returned, what is the Storm's main competitor in your market, etc. He also asked my personal opinion on the phone and what I thought needed to be fixed...all I have to say is, BRAVO RIM!!! This is really good and I'm glad RIM is doing this. The rep also said that most complaints are over the software and RIM is definitely aware of the issues (even after the update) and they plan on pushing another update soon. Just thought I'd share...anyone else getting calls?

Activating a phone you obtain from a friend?

My VX8300 died. I still have a NE2 credit, but haven't decided on a replacement. In the meantime, my friend can give me a used Verizon blackberry for free.

Can I activate this as a replacement, via the website, for instance, until I pick my next phone?

Trouble getting ringtones on Moto Rapture

Having a horrid time trying to figure out how to get ringtones onto my VU30 from my computer. If I email them, they can be saved to the phone, but they randomly save as either My Sounds or My Ringtones, with no discernable pattern as to which files go to which folder. In My Ringtones the file can be set as a ringtone, but not in My Sounds. I've tried MIDI files, mp3s and WAV files. Am I doing something wrong?

Order status on VZW website?

When I go the the VZW website to check my order status it says that my order is processed and I should receive my order in 2-3 business days. Does this mean my order is complete and its just waiting to ship? I never received an email from VZW giving me any kind of order status updates.

Yea Verizon!

Best cell-phone service

Verizon is a standout cell-phone carrier for most people, based on our exclusive best cell phone service survey of readers in 23 cities. The company received high marks from survey respondents in overall satisfaction and customer service, and service is available in most of the country.

Overall, cell-phone service has become significantly better, judging by the annual survey conducted in September by the Consumer Reports National Research Center. Contract terms for cell-phone service are less onerous, and there were fewer problems with call quality in this year's survey. The best carriers even came through after a hurricane hit one of our survey cities.

Sixty percent of readers were completely or very...

Early Upgrade Question

I am one year into my VZW contract and have really learned to dislike my XV6800. I thought about the Touch Pro, but it seems a bit crippled and sluggish per reviews. The Omnia will probably be my first choice, so what would I expect to pay for either the Touch Pro or the Omnia if I upgraded early?

BB Plans

I have been hearing rumors about the BB plans with ATT. I am a current USCC customer but I really would like to get a BB without the plan for the simple reason that I wont need it. I like the PDA and keyboard features. If someone could help me answer this question I would greatly appreciate it.

Tech Question

I don't know if anyone here can help but...

I have a customer that I upgraded back in March of 08.

For the first couple of months, he had a couple of Unavailable calls that are 3 minutes apart and his voice mail code had gotten wiped out. We did this 2 or 3 times.

I call tech a couple of times and we reset the vm in the switch and what not. Thought we had it fixed. Nope. He apparently had trouble with again (i got the word second hand).

Short of changing his number, which I don't really want to have done because of the age of this number being with his business for so many years that it would cause havoc, I don't know what to do.

I have a call into my friend that just started in Tech and she is working on it.

I wanted t...

Question on Blackberry service plans - PLEASE

Can someone who knows please answer this. I cant seem to get a straight asnswer.

First, I have a Storm and love the thing. I've had them all too...the latest being the XV6900 (Touch). But always Windows Mobile. This is my first foray into Blackberry and it rocks for sure. I am an I.T. Consultant and do Exchange server in a lot of small companies.

The question is this: If youa re using the BB Server or BB Professional Software with Exchange, which data plan do you need, the $29 one or the $44 one? My understanding is the $44 plan is for the Blackberry Internet Service and this is if you *DONT* have your own Exchange server and BB server software and want BB to redirect/sync for you using the Desktop software. So the $29 plan is all you ...
