Storm a POS?

Ouch -- according to this review in the New York Times at least the first Storm to come out is an extremely buggy phone and a POS. Why would RIM (and VZW) let a phone out on the market with so many flaws? http://www.nytimes.com/2008/11/27/technology/ personaltech/27pogue.html?bl&ex=1227934800&en =e69773c4efd24c5c&ei=5087%0A

Was the rush to put something on the market before Black Friday to compete with the iPhone the only consideration rather than quality?

Guess I'll being going with Omnia instead. Hopefully the phone was tested before it was put on the market.

Verizon Class Action in Wall Street Journal

Check out today's Wall Street Journal, page 1 of the Business section.

The heat is really turning up on Verizon now. The six column article, among other things says:

"Ms. Raney of Verizon Wireless notes that other carriers sell Bluetooth phones that offer only some of the Bluetooth features. But Cingular, the largest U.S. wireless carrier, accepts its phones with the full Bluetooth function the phone makers intended."

Hello, Verizon, can you hear us now?

Storm Reviews Are In!! (and they're not good)

Wow,

I pretty much decided last week that I wasn't going to get the storm and after reading reviews and watching videos for almost an hour last night, my decision looks like a good one.

I'll let you guys decide for yourselves, but right now, it looks like RIM and verizon have a lot of work to do to make this phone the touchscreen powerhouse that it needs to be.

The following sites have in depth reviews:

Any suggestions for a good wired earbud/microphone system?

I currently have the V-moda vibe duo and TWO of them have broken in TWO WEEKS. So, its obviously poorly made (and verified by the reviews on Amazon to the same effect). Is there an earbud set that is as good when the v-moda works, but does not break as often? TIA, Al

Please help

I have read the mixed reviews on the Blackberry Storm. And most of them are so so. I was thinking of changing carries so that I can purchase the Bold which is suppose to be a good blackberry. I was also looking at the Curve, but it doesn't have as many feature as the Storm or the Bold. Can somebody please give me some advise as to which phone would be better.

What can I do?

I currently have a LG EnV and a mobile broadband card in which my bill is about $140/month. I want to get the storm. I am eligible for the 1 year upgrade in January. What would be the best thing that I could do to get the storm and have the smallest bill.

Should I upgrade to the storm in Jan. and then do an ESN swap with the card and make the plan a family plan or is there something else that I could do to make the bill cheaper.

Please help.

Thank you for you time.

Omnia on VZW.com

Hey everybody, I just wanted to let you know that the Omnia is on VZW.com for 249 after a 2 year agreement.

I'm going to check it out today and see if it's at the stores. BTW, I only posted this because I thought it wasn't supposed to be coming out till 12/17.

Real Advice Before I Spend $199ish

The SureClick. Is it a winner or no... I got to play with the storm and could not decide between that and the Dare.

I type ALOT of text (300-400/day)

I currently have the voyager and hate it because i have to flip it open to do anything QWETY wise

Or is there something I should wait for, my 30 days are up on 12/10/08. I need to know because this girl @ best buy is holding a storm for me until 11/25/08

Thanks!!

Almost bought Storm

Was in line to get it, until I was told that no retails sales were taking place??? What? Yes only new lines of service, additional lines or those who qualify for upgrade.

Verizon didn't want my $499, which after I got home and read the reviews is not a bad thing.

Such is life...

Storm for only new customers(vzw reps)

Sorrry this thread is pointless. Just think its crazy.

So in my store on thrursday we were informed that we could only sell the storm to new customers, No upgrades. Ya know, As a rep it does make me money, but seems pretty ****ty for existing customers who are ready for upgrade. I mean. We are still gonna get data$ off of it most likely. I know if I had service and a new phone came out when it was time for my NE2 I would want to get the phone of my choice and not be told its only for customers who are new to customers. Just think its crazy. I dont know if this is how every store operated on the realease of it, Im from up north. And ive talked to other store reps who said that it was the same thing with them.

$50 mail-in rebates

I have noticed that several of the newer phones on the Verizon wireless site have a mail in rebate link that tells you that your rebate will be paid via debit card that can be used instantly. The catch is that it can take up to six weeks to get the card. In the meantime if you buy the phone on-line you have to shell out the $50 or $70 or $100 cost. It appears you also have to pay tax on it. Also if you wait to pay your credit card bill until the 6 week rebate arrives you get to pay the interest on this as well. Is this the wave of the future for Verizon? The advantage of buying on-line has been the on-line discount on the less expensive phones along with the new every two discount meant you didn't have to pay any money upfront. Now if I were...

Need some help from those waiting for Android

It's not unknown that VZW will eventually have a few phones with Android but I'm not expecting a good choice for at least a year. I currently have a Curve with AT&T for work and a regular VZW handset for personal use. The ultimate goal will be to have an Android phone as my personal phone with Verizon and a basic cheap AT&T flip phone for work.

I'm not a fan of WinMo and I'm not too sure about the Storm but i'm open to ideas. Its been about a year since I've played with WinMo 5 on the 6700 and i760. As a huge Google products user, what device would you use as a smartphone for the next year? (please don't suggest anything with the VZW OS)

Samsung Omnia

We had a field engineer come in the store today and let us play with his Samsung omnia that he is testing for VZW...all i have to say is .... that phone is AMAZING 5.0MP, the browser is INSANE FAST, youtube streaming even more insane. touch screen CRAZY responsive, sound quality top notch. I fell in love hahaha! I asked him about the BB Storm he said he just got done testing it last week and its going to be a great device as well. I'm still using my upgrade for the BB Storm since I dont like Winmob devices. But yeah...just wanted to let everyone know the Omnia is coming and it is amazing...going to be crazy expensive though
