VZW phone upgrade

Hi All,

Newbie to this place and my first posting here. I have been with VZW for about 5 yrs now and am eligible for a phone upgrade now. I currently have "AMERICA'S CHOICE II 450 ANY UNLIM N&W AND UNLIM IN CALLING" plan. I want to add messaging to that and If I understood the sales rep correctly I believe my current plan gives me the ability to use Get It Now and possibly other web features and the usage is deducted from my minutes. (I might be wrong). Essentially I want to keep the current plan and add 250 text messages for 5 bucks. I might use the web features occasionally and may be some music.

Given that what phone is best suitable for my usage? I was thinking of BB Curve or Pearl (both coming for free after instant rebates) and ...

Blackberry maps on Verizon Curve

I just updated to software 4.5. Blackberry maps now has the option for GPS navigation. Is this supposed to work with the internal GPS? I am having no luck.

Thanks.

evil homer

Here is an answer to the ATT fanboys that are blasting Verizon Wireless for buying Alltel and therefore taking the Best to the Biggest.

You all are hating because someone can buy a customer base. First, Verizon Wireless is buying Alltel at a good rate and picking up quick spectrum in rural areas that VZW didn't have coverage before. 2nd, it is an easier transition then Cingular and Att; and Sprint and Nextel due to the obvious reason...technology.

Now, let us say they "bought" their way to a top spot. In this world of crumbling financial empires, doesn't it show that one company was fiscally responsible enough to be in a position to buy Alltel. VZW doesn't operate at a low profit like some other carriers. No, they keep thier busines...

racist customers

so every once in a while i get those customers that call in saying "why do you give an option of spanish in your menu? this is america!" and maybe even escalate or refuse to get off the phone after you've told them there's nothing you can do. some people just don't have a life and call just for that. i usually tell them that many customers speak spanish so we need to offer our customers options or else how would we help them. now they go on and on about this is america and i shouldn't have to waste 2 seconds of my life to listen to that option and etc. so my question is, what do YOU say to those customers? i just need something real good, something that will just shut them up. thanks.

Glyde s/w update

I haven't been to work in a few days. Did the s/w update for the Glyde come out as expected? If so, did it fix the problems with the touch screen and other issues?

Besides a Storm what else is coming?

I'm not a true blue phonophile like many on this forum (I have a 3 yr old treo 650). Seems to me the Storm is going to cost me more/month on top of whatever the phone itself will cost. What else is coming out in the next couple of months in the smart phone/pda category that's worth looking into. I'm definitely ready for a new phone/PDA but don't want to pay extra per month just to have a BB. Thanks in advance for the input.

Secret Storm "release" Envelope

I have heard the "secret envelope" will be opened Sunday evening to the employees.

I also hear that the managers have seen the contents of this envelope today.

Who's going to be the first to leak the contents to us?

Come on, what's the worst that can happen?

Circuit City will close 155 stores
RICHMOND, Va. รƒยขรขโ€šยฌโ€ย Circuit City Stores (CC) said Monday that it is pulling the plug on about 20% of its U.S. stores in an effort to return the nation's No. 2 consumer electronics retailer to profitability.

The company said it will shutter 155 of its more than 700 stores in 55 markets, including Phoenix and Atlanta, by Dec. 31, laying off about 17% of its domestic work force. According to its website, the company had nearly 46,000 employees domestic and international at the end of February.

Circuit City also said it will further reduce store openings and plans to work with landlords to renegotiate leases, lower rent or terminate agreements.

The company said it expects the stores it is closing, w...

PDA Plan/Assistance, please

OK, I'm not new to VZW and love my little LG VX8700, it's small and works great for me.

I'm thinking of adding a PDA into my life and I'm not certain that a phone/pda is what I want or need. I think that if I have a combo unit I'm going to miss my LG's small form in my pocket/purse and always be a bit worried about a more expensive toy being snatched.

What I'd like to do is have internet access and, correct me if I'm wrong, if I have a PDA w/wifi I can browse networks for nothing, right? But if I have a PDA/Phone w/VZW then I'm going to pay either 1.99/unit (however they do it) or I'll have to get a "plan" that includes data too ? Right now I have the 900 minute plan w/Unlimited text and pic msg for an extra 9.99. I think the 900 m...
