Home vs. Automatic and data plans

Hello!

I have an XV6800 with WM 6.1 recently installed (finally!). I am going on a trip from southern California to Ensenada, Mexico (only about 60 miles south of the border), and I want to make sure I do not roam. I went into Settings > Phone > and set it to Home rather than Automatic.

Does that setting also make the data side of the phone (EVDO or 1xRTT) a "home only" setting? I do not want huge data roaming to sneak up on me.

Out of curiosity, and with all the hoopla about AT&T having more bars in more places, I decided to look at the VZW world-wide coverage. I was surprised how many countries are using CDMA. Listening to the AT&T ads, you'd think the USA was the only place that CDMA works.

Thank you!

VZW & LTE

I have read about VZW adopting LTE for 4G. Does this mean that VZW will be switching to using SIM cards? Thanks for the info 🙂

30 day return question

I didn't find any search that was relevant, so I'm posting.

I recently purchased a BB Curve. I'm unsure about the phone now, compared to a more simpler ENV2.

I am still within my 30 days, but if I exchange my Curve for an ENV2, but hate that, how's that work?

I'm assuming you only get one 30-day period, or do you get 30-days PER EXCHANGE?

Anyone? TIA. My 30 is up soon, so I need to decide.

BB Curve VS LG EnV2

Time for an upgrade and am considering one of these two phones. Not a novice user, actually have worked in the industry for over 10yrs. Quite familiar with the curve (on the GSM side, currently work for the "other" major carrier) and has seemed to be a solid performer although somewhat bulky. Not familiar with the EnV2 although it's gotten quite good overall reviews. Would like some input...

All the new VZ phones look like they got beat with the ugly stick!

LOL! I guess maybe this is the time of year when they dump out all the mongoloid phones.

Verizon Blitz

I have done a little searching in the forum and can't find anything about the new Verizon Blitz made by Ultracom. I saw it at a verizon kiosk in the mall and i was looking for a phone with a QWERTY keyboard and it looked interesting.

I guess the cons are that the phone looks a little plasticy. and the screen quality didn't look great i was wondering what you guys thought.

Question for Verizon Reps??

I may be interested in Verizon service, however I currently live in a non Verizon market. This market is served by Alltel though. Is it possible to sign up for Verizon service now or do I need to wait until the merger officially goes through?? Thanks in advance for the help!

Time for a new phone

Verizon called me this morning. My contract is up, its time to get a new phone, and they offered me one. I had to turn her down. Verizon does not have a phone that excites me even a little. I wish they did, because I like my phones. I will wait to see what the new Blackberry is like, maybe that will be what I want. For now, my MotoQ is working Ok, I just wish it would play YouTube vids.

New Phone Time

My new in every 2 in now available & I'm looking for a new phone, & you folks have always been a great help.

When looking for a phone my priority list goes like this.

1.)Reception is the biggest thing for me because I drive through some spotty areas on my drive to work & I haven't solid service through this area since the days of the Tri-modes.

2.)Battery life
3.)Durability (I'd prefer a flip phone even though I'm not that hard on a phone)

Minor needs would be ....
Camera
screen size (my 385 has been a very good phone but the screen size just sux!)

Thanks!

Colin Cowherd (The Herd on ESPN Radio) recommends VZW!!!

So I am listening to my sports morning talk show and there is a segment where he connects with other parts of the nation to talk about what's going on there (spannin' the globe) in the sports world. He connects with this lady's cell phone who is over at ESPN Baltimore and asked her a question - couldn't get an answer so he asks again - but no answer.

Colin (on the air) - "Must be a dropped call, let's try this again. She really needs to get Verizon. I tell all of my guests that."
