Dare touchscreen durability q

i love the dare, however a vzw guy said it is a great phone unless your a big texter because the touchscreen can only last so long and take so much 'touching' and a physical keyboard is much better. is this true and has anyone lost touch sensitivity with theirs or other similar phones?

question about the Dare and contract

I have an existing contract with Verizon; my two years are up, and i'm eligible for my new every two year. Online, it says that my price will be 150; my first question is whether this price is cheaper than the store, or the same?

Secondly, it says that for me to get the Dare, i'll have to change my contract, or get a new contract. My second question is, what kind of contract do you need to get this applied to the Dare?

Thanks in advance for any help.

The phone nobody will blame?

I've seen it happen many times. It happens on every network out there...AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobil and yes, even Verizon. Someone is looking to sign up to a new network so they start looking at phones. They read reviews, they ask questions, and they ultimately pick a phone based on those recomendations.
Then it happens. For whatever reason (and there are MANY possibilities)they will start to have issues with their service or phone. It might be bad sound quality or maybe poor signal coverage...whatever. This frustrated consumer will then turn to the message boards here on phonescoop to try and get some answers. As soon as someone sees someone else complain about "their" network, the first thing they will say is, "Well, it's no wonder you...

Question on product focus

Will the focus on "simple" yet solid, well-built, excellent-battery life, camera flip phones start dying out now that they all seem to have music players, V-Cast, etc.?

I would think there's a market for people who want the above and not too much more, but want it better constructed, more durable, more reliable than what VZ is marketing as the entry-level phones.

Many like me have nice MP3 players and aren't interested in music features on their phones, and also don't want to pay for extra services like VCast.

Thinking About The Big Switch

I currently have us cellular in the chicago suburbs.

I live in a garden apartment (1/2 above ground, 1/2 under) and us cellular gets me about 2-3 bars depending on where I am.

When i had sprint, I had 1 bar, but could never really get or make calls that well.

They are both CDMA providers, not sure why they were so different. I'm sure it has to do with tower proximity and equiptment and all that good stuff...

I'm just wondering how verizon will fair... I know they have the 30 day test drive, they want a $400.00 deposit from me and I want to make sure it will be atleast close to us cellular for coverage, but I don't know anyone that has verizon, only t-mobile and sprint. I just don't want to pay the 400.00 (Plus 200.00 for the ...

Asurion

I just got my LG vx8700 replaced via asurion. What a joke..... I have been a verizon customer for nearly 8 years in a row. I have had several phones and this is the first one that I dropped and it was damaged so I sent it in and paid my $50. The phone I got in the mail for My $50 and $6 per month for the last 8 years is not even a LG 8700 .. It looks like one but, up close, no LG logo, Numbers are tacky and not smooth like before, hinge is weak and squeeky unlike my original which was smooth. The screen looks a little different and I swear the software is slower. I even weighed the new one at work comparing it to the orignal and the asurion one was lighter by 5 grams. To top it off it slid off the table when I got home and hit the gro...

Voyager vs Glyde

Both phones seem to have somewhat similiar features. to me the voyager seems like it may be higher quality but thats just from in store testing.

Just for fun lets throw the Env2 in the mix also even though it doesnt have the touch screen.

Billing Issues

I am a very p offed customer at this point. Pretty much to start I went into the store and had my main line phone switched to a env2 and all went fine except they experienced switch issues preventing the phone from immediatly being switched to the line and some how resulting in 3 lines added to my account 2 of which were cancelled previously and one I had never seen before. Funny thing is the line that they added for whatever reason was charged an ETF and the other two had insurance added. Of course intially I called customer service to resolve it - 4 days and 3 calls later no progress. I went back to the store and they agreed to have all the charges dropped on the added lines because it was their error. This was July the 11th. On July the 2...

The real reason Verizon bought AllTel......

Not for the customer base, Not for the technology, or plans (lol)

They wanted the 850MhZ Spectrum in the Southern US they could not otherwise get through auction. Period. The only way Verizon could expand it's 850MHZ (the prime cell phone space)was to buy Alltel. The merger made it clear the every single one of Alltel's ideas, unique phones, and plans will vanish. The only advantage Alltel users will have is that they can talk ONLY to other Verizon users free. But they can already talk to ALL the other carriers of their choice free with the My Circle Plans. No more Music connect Streaming services

And Verizon fan boys really believe Alltel customers will play?

vzw.com servers down?

I'm trying to change the settings back to my old phone (how do I do it, btw?), and just about everything I try to do on verizonwireless.com comes back with "try again later." Is the site down?

Question about returns

I am going to return this Boulder I've griped about for two weeks, but I have a question. It costs $20 to mail it back and swap out with a different model.

Is this $20 deducted from the difference in cost between two phones? I.e. if I wanted the Adventure and it's $30 cheaper, do I get a $10 credit?

Also, I've heard there is no charge if I simply send it back, then I get my NE2 credit back and such. If this is true, can't I just send it back, then a week later order a different phone and hence avoid the $20 fee?

question for Verizon employees

question for verizon employees:

I work right now for Corporate AT&T and have the oppurtunity to move to Verizon as ASSISTANT RETAIL SALES OPERATIONS. I was wondering what the job is like, and also what employee benifets they provide. At at&t I had my own line that was paid for as well as 2 lines that I only had to pay for features that I put on.

thanks for the info!

Futuredated Port Out

This policy that VZW came up with totally baffles me and working in CS I have to explain this to customers.

As of August 10th when a customer ports out their # to another carrier the service on VZW is suspended (with billing) until the end of the billing cycle. There is a way to disconnect the service on demand, but the customer would have to call in about it.

When a customer wants to port out they are already getting a phone with another carrier, hence the reason for the port out. How can you have the customer paying for 2 different carriers? I think that's ridiculous. It leaves a bad taste in their mouth to be honest with you.

I can understand their reasoning behind it, it avoids pro-rates.

Now I did read somewhere that when t...

Quick question about EnV2

With the EnV2 closed, can you scroll through your contacts, select one, and call it? Or does it have to be opened to do that?
Thanks
