Verizon Wireless ranks highest in wireless customer care performance with an index score of 103, followed by Alltel (102), T-Mobile (100) and AT&T (97). Specifically, customers report that Verizon Wireless performs particularly well in resolving problems in one contact.

So Does It Really...

Erase all of your ringtones, games, and Get It Now apps when you get the v09 update for visual voicemail? I have read that it does, but others have said that only happens when the stores use the wrong updater. Can I get the firmware upgrade without erasing everything oshould I just wait til v10 so I don't lose everything twice??? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Firmware updates

I know I may sound like noob for asking this question and it may have been asked before but I dont feel like searching for it but is there a way I can upgrade my firmware myself instead having to go to a vzw store? I only ask cause with my crazy work schedule I dont get a chance to get to the store very often, and I wanted to try out the visual voicemail on my voyager but I need my firmware updated first.

Thanks in advance.

Call Center Blues

Ok, I work in an AT&T call center. the policies for us, literally, change every flippin' day! I'm wondering is it JUST AT&T's policies that change every day or is it with every carrier?

What's on the horizon?

I am on the cusp on sending my Boulder back for a Moto Adventure, but I could also just return it, add some more duct tape to my old LG 8300 and wait awhile if I knew there was something great on the horizon.

My main needs are a sturdy phone, preferably flip, with outstanding sound, good battery life, durability (I know it won't be as good as Boulder in that regard, but I'll take a functioning phone any day), and camera. I won't listen to music on it or require a slide-out keyboard. I do text a lot, but I'm fine with good predictive Word entry.

I'm pretty hard on phones, meaning I just jam them in a pocket and go. There could be other interesting features that would lure me in, but I can't think of them now. Mainly seeking high qualit...

Kind of an odd piece to lose...

I have the maroon EnV2. On the back there are 5 little screw holes (1 at each corner, and one in the middle on the right side of the phone) that are covered by little maroon pieces of plastic. I lost the middle one. It is driving me absolutely crazy! (this may not bother most people, but I am the type of person that kept the little rubber protector thing that went in the charging port of my VX8300, if that gives you a clue). Anyway, I was wondering if anyone knew how I could go about getting a replacement one...Thanks!

V-Cast and Other Carriers' Live TV

From the British website, www.theregister.com:

Even Koreans turn off mobile TV
By Andrew Orlowski
Published Tuesday 12th August 2008 14:35 GMT

Despite billions invested in turning mobile phones into pocket TV sets, the public continues to find it all a giant yawn. A study by TMC Media published earlier this month suggests that peak-time viewing of direct broadcast TV on phones in Korea barely exceeds the pollsters' margin of error.

TMC found that only 1.17 per cent of the mobile TV-equipped audience was watching - peaking at 3.58 per cent during the commute rush hour. Around 48 per cent of receivers are built into mobile phones.

Which begs the question - if the Koreans don't want mobile TV, then who does? Despite the cu...

Pearl on Premium plan

Ok, so, my fiance and i have the premium plan with everything included, and we both have EnV's. i really want a BB Pearl. I had one on Sprint, and I miss it! Would we still be able to keep the premium plan and still get everything included? (ie, email, internet, VZ navigator, text messages, etc.)? I'm ok with paying $30 more per month on my line as long as we both keep all those features. Thanks!

I Love VZ Navigator

Sure, I use it pretty regularly, and it always comes in handy for looking up phone numbers and whatnot, but man...it's nights like tonight when I really appreciate VZ Navigator. Apparently, giving any indicator that a road is closed ahead would be completely impossible around here, so I nearly drive through a bunch of orange cones that're arranged across the road.

I don't have a GPS unit in my car, but I do have VZ Navigator, namely for the aforementioned reasons, as well as the fact that I'm the absolute worst person for getting lost and whatnot. Despite it having me take a drastically different route that was so far outside of my original route, it managed to get me home only ten minutes later than intended.

Yes, I realize that this ...

America’s Most Reliable Wireless Network!!

What do you think?

Cell phone towers still vulnerable to power outages

Five years after the largest blackout in North American history on Aug. 14, 2003, it isn't just utilities that still are having problems meeting reliability standards. So are many many wireless telephone companies, whose cell phone towers would go silent after several hours of no commercial power.

When 6 million Michigan residents lost their power in 2003, and as seen in several natural disasters like Hurricane Katrina in 2005, cell phone towers soon started running out of power from backup batteries, making it very difficult for people to communicate.

For more than a year, the Federal Communications Commission has been trying to institute rules that wou...

New Plans

My wife and I have a family 500 plan (no longer offered) We are wondering if VZW has new plans on the horizon? We can renew in Nov. Or if they are looking at including or reworking current plans...like including mobile web in the 99 plan?

Thanks

Supertooth 3 & Phone Book Upload

I have recently purchased a Blueant Supertooth 3 handsfree device and I simply love how it works. Unfortunately, my older Verizon Wireless phone does not support automatic phone book upload (PBB for the techies) or a manual upload (OPP for that same group!! 😁 ).

I called Blueant and discussed a phone model they said should work "IF Verizon did not have any network restrictions". If they did, I was told to ask about the availability of a firmware upgrade that would allow the built-in bluetooth functionality to work.

Off to a Verizon store where I found the phone and was promptly told it was restricted and no firmware upgrades are available...why a cell company would restrict this function to impede total hands-free is nuts...but, it ...
