Unlocked phone for Verizon

Hi,

I am new to the forum so forgive me if this question has been asked before. I am wondering if a non-Verizon CDMA phone can be used on the Verizon network. I have looked at the phone selections from Verizon and none of them really appeal to me. I have seem several Nokia phones that look interesting. If I have a CDMA/WiFi phone from Nokia, can I get it to work on Verizon?

Verizon UI getting MAJOR overhaul?

OK, so I'm an Electrical Engineering student with a strong desire to design telecommunications systems one of these days. As such, I keep my eyes open on the industry's websites to see what they're looking for in new employees in the technical fields. I thought some of the crowd might find this interesting:

I'll post the relevant parts of the job description here in case the link stops working when the position gets filled:

Text input; some versions much better...

The LG 8300 I had used a Word text input mode that learned new vocabulary simply by you using the word, and it was predictive, so that the next time you wanted to text someone that long email address, usually it would be an option after a couple of key taps by cycling through the choice with the zero key.

I noticed on the Boulder (which is going back) that it has a T9 mode that is very tedious; you have to switch back into ABC to "teach" it words, and it's not predictive, so that you have to enter the entire word you wish.

Is this because LG owns rights to the other mode? It seems like a step backward to use this T9. How do I find out which phones have text input similar to the LG 8300?

Geezzz...

My first curve was great up until last week. It rebooted itself say... 3 to 4 times a day. CS sent me a new one. the one they sent, the ESN wasn't logged into VZW data base. That's #2. the 3rd one they sent, the browser didn't work properly. finding this out after 1 1/2hrs with tech support. So I will receive another FRU on tuesday. How many FRU's do they send me until I get a "NEW" one? Is the rule 4th times a charm? Any input would be appreciated. 🤨

Are wireless stores necessary?

I decided to start a new thread for this topic:

tgoace said:

If there were no retail stores to drive sales, wouldn't the trade off of that be to take all that money "saved" and invest heavily into marketing? That would either be a wash or more expensive, wouldn't it?

What would VZW do? Rely on word of mouth? Just let their fate be decided by chance? 😲

There will always be stores- but who says they have to be VZW stores?

Ever seen a DirecTV Store? How about a Microsoft Store? These companies seem to be doing pretty well, and they have no direct retail presence at all as far as I can tell.

People will still buy cell phone...

Does Verizon pay people here to post?

I read the article yesterday about the NRA planting a spy on a anti-gun groups board of directors and made me think about this forum. It seems like I see the same names, time and time again rushing to defend Verizon. Are these people being paid by Verizon to Post here?

i won't name any names but....

please stop talking down to customers / potential customers in here

what's worse is that sometimes you guys (you know who you are) don't even read what the OP writes and jumps to conclusions and start flaming away

no wonder VZW doesn't want their direct reps posting on here!

Employee Cell Plan

Is it true that all employees MUST migrate to the new National Plans by the end of August?

A friend of mine was told that she has to or face suspension of her account.

Anyone?

How good is the service?

I am currently a customer with AT&T, have been for 15 years, I have an Iphone. With the future release of the BB Thunder and Verizon being the projected carrier I would like to know how is the service, i.e. calls dropped, as well as customer service, cause with AT&T it is really bad, to put it nicely, customer service that is.

Can you switch back-and-forth between two?

What I mean is, can I own to VZW phones and activate one or the other when that phone suits my need? For instance, say I'm doing something where a phone could easily get damaged, I might want to re-activate my old phone for the weekend.

Is this possible? If not, it should be.
