This is a great deal on Verizon's behalf. They're aquiring 13 million more customers to add to their current 67 million. Alltel has had a great network here in the southeast (ATL) and their reputation is good. Regardless of the "My Circle" plan, I personally know several people who have Alltel that were excited to join Verizon. iPhone 3G is finally official, starts at $199, available July 11th


It's been a long, leak-filled wait, but Apple finally took the wraps off its 3G iPhone. Thinner edges, full plastic back, flush headphone jack, and the iPhone 2.0 firmware -- Apple's taking a lot of the criticisms to heart from the first time around. Obviously 3G is at the forefront, but they're also making sure it's available all over internationally, works with enterprises, runs 3rd party apps... and does it all for cheaper. Apple claims its 3G speeds trounce the competition, with pageloads 36% faster than the N95 and Treo 750 -- and of course it completely trounces the old EDGE data. Battery life isn't getting put out to pasture though, with 300 hours of standby, 8-10...

Just wonder how everyone feels about work for them. I work in the store and its stressful sometimes.

Why is verizon going to stop selling this phone soon. It is such a great seller. The phone is probably the best flip phone that verizon sells. I just don't get why they are going to stop selling this great phone.

I heard rumors that AT&T is responding to this great new merger by trying to buy T-Mobile. They don't want to be second, and merging with T-Mobile will make them #1 again.

Does anyone know if this rumor is that true? I hope not 😲

You can kiss the ADC (advanced device credit) good bye on June 16th. New price strips will be put out that day that don't reflect the instant $100 off pricing. The ADC is being retired. I currently don't know why, maybe somebody else does (trolls excluded)

Verizon has the best phones, customer service, and now the largest coverage area. I love that I'm with the best carrier! I was so excited to hear that Verizon bought Alltel to become the largest provider! We were number one before with net add and lowest churn , but now we have the most customers and the biggest coverage of any carrier, that's a great! Noone can compete with US!!!

IM tellin ya Kool-Aid drinkers this is not going to be pretty...Most ALLtel customers get far more for the money in their opinion for their needs than VErizon can offer.

These people are just the tip of the iceberg....

If you do not need the "instant access" to your email...but like to have access to the web, texting and of course using it as a PHONE is it worth it to have a Blackberry such as the Curve or would it be better to go for something like the env2? Thank you

My Treo 650 is dying a slow death and I am up for a NE2 shortly.

Also, does anyone know the true difference between the Treo 755 & the Centro?

Where I stay, the 2 top companies as far as coverage is att and vzw. Alltel sucks here (at least in my opinion) but everyone I know with vzw is happy with their service. Now I am not under contract with anyone but was thinking between att and vzw. The prices seem to be the same. But my question is will vzw keep the my circle and if they do when would it go into effect? I would love it if they did because all the people I talk all have different cell phone carriers. Thanks for any helpful info. 🙂

I was wondering if you can change your calling plans minutes down and up with no penalty or extending of your contract? So basically can I move to a plan with fewer minutes and if I find that I need more again then move it back up? Thank you.

Okay, I admit it, I'm a Sprint fanboy, and not ashamed; but now that I have everyone's attention, here's WHY I think the merger will be good:

First, for you guys, it obviously will increase your coverage and reception while on your own network, not to mention your free M2M community. "My Circle" will no longer be necessary, since practically everyone will be in it then anyway. No more roaming for Alltel customers, either!

It will be good for the rest of the carriers for the following reasons:
