Verizon Wireless delivered the old one-two punch this week. First, declaring it will open its network to devices and applications in the coming year. And now, deciding to align itself with the GSM world by picking the Long Term Evolution (LTE) technology for its 4G network.

The LTE decision is not unexpected since Verizon Wireless has been rumored to have been looking at the air interface standardized by the GSM world’s 3GPP standards body. Also, using LTE will bring Verizon Wireless together with its Vodafone part-owner (Verizon Wireless is a joint venture of Verizon and Vodafone).

Why would you buy a phone that is one year old!

My question is what is the reasoning behind the lack of these super hyped up phones? As an indirect agent, I have yet to get a voyager into any of my 5 stores and have had 10 venuses since they've been out. What is Verizon really trying to do with this? I understand the hype is building and people are standing at my door each morning waiting for these phones, but the phones are no where to be found. We have 3 corporate stores within reasonable travel distance, we've called them, they're saying they're out until the 15th, but you can still order and have the phone delivered. However, you can go online or call telesales and they'll have you a phone in 2 business days. Where's the love for the indirects? somebody obviously has these phon...

Does anyone know what the largest size memory card this phone can hold? We got a 2gb and are having problems getting it to work. Thanks.

The venus says it can trasfer images and the voyager says it can transfer images.....but they won't transfer to each other. Will they only transfer to a PC....it will let me send vcards all day, but who cares about that.....I also tried sending a picture from 8130(pearl) to the voyager and voyager to 8130. No luck on either....anybody else try this? I'm thinking it will only do vcards to other devices and everything else using a pc????

Also, anyway to get around the multitask problem with the voyager??? Lame, lame, lame....

I just spoke to my indirect, who said that he won't have the Voyager until after the new year. This is getting a little crazy. I feel like at this point, I might as well wait for the Curve, since that's what I really want. But why all the hype and no show? 🤨

Anyone know how many Voyagers were sold in it's first week? I know it didn't do iphone numbers just by the amount my local stores had. The biggest store in my area only had 20.

Has anyone been able to order any Voyagers since the initial release? We keep being told they will be available at random times every day but have yet to be able to order any and I noticed today that the Voyager is not even in WOW anymore. Have we just totally missed it by getting wrong info from our account managers or have they really not been available since the release? I know that no other indirects in our city has ordered any but of course corp has had some (very few) in and I think they have more coming today, but I'm not sure about that. I hope it's not just us and the ball has been dropped...

We finally were able to get a ton of Venus' yesterday.

Anyone know if and/or when Verizon and Motorola will release the V9M in a different color?

I have posted on the voyager thread but wanted to also post here because I do not seem to be getting many responses. I got the Voyager (after going to two different stores to find it in the Circuit City location) the first day it came out. I used it and was SHOCKED 😲 to hear a muffled effect compared to my Motorola Q that I replaced. I really like the Voyager , touch screen, etc. but if I have to keep asking the other person I'm talking to and /or repeating what I've said because they can't quite make it out sometimes, what good is the phone? Anyone else have call quality issues? When I use my Motorola 500 bluetooth it seems even worse.

ALSO, is this sold out in all areas? I'm in NJ and it is selling like crazy. I can't imagine...

Anybody else having problems with your Voyager?

So far, on 2 different models I have seen problems.

On one of them, the outside screen freezes and you have to open it and close it back.

On the other one, the touch screen doesnt always work, and you have to hit it several times.


Anybody else?

I think that this phone is going to be a huge hit even more so than the Voyager and Venus if their prices are high. I can see this being the must have item for tweens and older teens this holiday season. What do you guys and gals think?

Consider I have the 15 dollar vcast plan and unlimited texting on my Select Nationwide Plan.

Are there any hidden charges I should look out for using ESPN MVP? The data charges are covered through the vcast plan, but do text alerts get covered by my texting plan? Or are all alerts extra charge?

I searched all over verizonwireless.com, but found nothing on prices for alerts. I just wanna make sure before I start to fully break in my Voyager 👿

I am on VZW. I have an LG VX8300. I have loved this phone since day 1. Previous I had 2 or 3 LG's really liked them ALL. All have been bullet-proof.

My 8300 is beat Up, but working fine, But I am up for new after two. Figure I'll get something new. I cant figure out what to pick. I read a review about the lg vx8350, it said the phone was not so great. I have heard that the plastic they (LG) use now feels cheap.

I need a Clamshell with speaker phone, Front LCD, nice quality and sound, very very reliable. I have not had a moto in a very long time, I remember I hated them back in the day. I have been really impressed w/ LG but fear they might be ...

does this extend my contract for 2 more years?

Ready for my new every two; currently have a Palm Treo 650. Use the device for business; big email user. Torn between these two: the small form factor of the Pearl vs its SureType; the 'anywhere' use of the World phone vs its still bulky size.

Any feedback from folks who are heavy email users and have used either/both is most appreciated.

One other wrinkle: I have a Mac. Currently use Mark/Space to sync with my Treo. Imperfect, I'm sure it will be the same with any device (except an iPhone).

I have a question about the new every 2. What good is the new every two if they are already offering a $100 on line discount? For example, I want to purchase the i760 (Well actually the XV6800 but who knows when that will be released). There is a 100 on line discount for that phone. If I log in to my account and try and purchase it with my NE2 discount, it will give me the 100 discount for that, but not the on line discount. Why not give both discounts? I should get the NE2 discount on top of the discounts already being offered, otherwise what is the point for the NE2? Someone else that does not have 2 years can get the same discount?

I think Engadget says it best, please read the users comments. I have been waiting to switch from Alltel, but after waiting so long I am just not excited about it anymore. I always hear the best phones (ATT) vs. best network (Verizon). Why can't Verizon have the best network and better phones? It isn't like they are giving them away for free.
