Question about Verizon's purchase of Unicel (Rural Cellular Corp)

I live in Sioux Falls SD. Here we have Verizon service, and also a local Unicel GSM unlimited service. I just learned from someone that Verizon has purchased unicel (Rural Cellular corp) It stated on wikipedia (I know everything is not true but hey its worth asking) that Verizon was going to turn all of Unicels GSM customers to CDMA Verizon, and then save the GSM towers just for roaming from other carriers. Does this mean that the local GSM unlimited service in my are will be shut down?

Also another question. My aunt lives up in Brainerd MINNESOTA, which is highly Unicel CDMA and GSM coverage, and she uses for service. Does this mean that soon she will be switched over to verizon?

Thanks to anyone who knows!

i760 going back - need advice

Hello all,

I have the i760 right now and am not too thrilled with it. I love the OS and what I can do PDA wise, but I hate the fact that it is a phone second.

I don't need the email functionality, but I do need calendar, text with reminders until I look at it, and internet.

I am a business user and have been considering the Voyager, but I know that the HTC 6800 is coming very soon as well. For you Voyager owners have any of you used the sync function to load up your Outlook Calendar yet? Any help or advice will be greatly appreciated!

U.S. Cellular vs Vzw

Yes, our readers can hear you now. Verizon Wireless lost its spot at the top of the contract providers to "super-regional" US Cellular, which went up a half point to 7.8 out of 10, despite serving only 26 states.

Cell Services: Contract | US Cellular
If you're lucky enough to be in a state serviced by US Cellular, you'd be foolish not to consider it for yourself.

Need a quick recommendation

So I have a customer on his way in. He wants the phone with the loudest ringer (he works construction) but doesn't want the G'zone or any phone by LG. I'm thinkin about the u540, but I'm also open to suggestions. Thanks in advance!! 🙂

Verizon to Open Access to Apps and Devices Next Year

So that means any CDMA handset will work, as long as it has the right freq? Like we will be able to use a Sprint handset?

publicity stunt, no more

I disagree with the individual https://www.phonescoop.com/carriers/forum.php ?fm=m&ff=2&fi=1481895

who compared this to the moon landing in the 60's...this is publicity, plain and simple. The reality of people bringing other "approved" CDMA devices to Verizon in droves is quite limited, though possible and welcomed by that minority, and the update yesterday shortly afterward lets us know Verizon's true intentions:
posted Tuesday, 7:45 AM by Eric M. Zeman
updated Tuesday, 10:15 AM

Updated: Added add'l info. Clarified that Verizon is not opening its own devices to any new software flexibility, only new third-party hardware.

SO, of the 60 mil that have VZ, and saw that y-day, there is a good percentage of that number that belie...

Verizon Reps Misquoting Rates 93 Percent of the Time (YouTube Video)

Impressively poor performance Verizon. I feel sorry for your customers.

No wonder the Verizon contract (and others) have provisions like this:

This agreement and the documents to which it refers form the entire agreement between us on their subjects. You can't rely on any other documents or statements on those subjects by any sales or service representatives, and you have no other rights with respect to service or this agreement, except as specifically provided by law.

After all, when representatives are misleading you out of spite or ignorance in an attempt to get a sale, you can't be bound by something as silly as truth.

No wonder wireless reps ar...

This is for robtheman

I also wanted to thank you for all the help you provide on this forum. You make being a verizon customer good. Although, I wanted to let you know I decided on the Venus rather than the Voyager. I though it was more appropriate for me being I dont use all those advanced features.

One More Thing for robtheman

There are many nay sayers about the Venus. However, there are many surprises that most people are not aware of. They tend to back down because of the feeling it is only "half touch" But the reality is about 85% of the operations or maybe even more can be handled by that half touch screen. I do almost every thing with touch. Also the Venus answers a lot of the complaints that people have about other phones. For example you can make a call with the slider down as long as they are in your contacts. The speaker also can be turned on when the slider is down.

Q9M

Is there any Q9M owners out there that can give their real world opinions of this device?

Do you still have the phone? Would you buy it again if you had it to do over again? How is the call quality, reception, stability? Have you compared it to any other PDA/SmartPhone?

Thanks in advance for your opinion!

new phone? Last chance for question....

SO, returning my Voyager today. Verizon officially shut it off yesterday and turned back on my old Motorola. Already I see the call quality much better!

I am planning on going to get the v9m either today on the way to work or tomorrow on my day off. I am just worried that as soon as I get it, it will become available in other colors or another motorola phone that I like will come out.

Anyone know of a color change for the v9m (I know I've asked already ) or a better motorola phone coming out any time soon?
